1. Yay! So happy you're feeling better! And you are welcome. My nurse told me in the hospital the shoulder pain is very common. It's the gas that has traveled through you body and got stuck in your shoulder. How bizarre is that? Lol. Hoping you can sleep in your bed too. It's so comforting. Haha. I'm sooooo excited about puréed food, I hopefully get to start them Monday after my post op:)
2. . Awww, I'm so sorry you're still not feeling good. Everyday is easier! I got out and even went to walmart today. I've slept in my bed since I got home from the hospital. I'm even sleeping on my side; we have a huge plush foam topper though so maybe that's what has made the difference. For my gas I was taking several hot baths a day and just kept the water below my incisions. It really helped to ease my muscles and relax me and then the gas pains were able to go away. Maybe try those tricks and see if you have any improvement. Good luck!
3. I could NOT wait to get home to my own bed. Since 2 days post op (my first night home) I've slept like a baby and was able to sleep on my side with a pillow propped up on my back. It felt weird with it under my belly, but when I put it behind me it was a whole new story. Felt so good to sleep on my side and to be out of the hospital bed:) I'm hoping you'll get to experience the joys of side sleeping again soon! Good luck!
4. Oh no, I'm so sorry you're in so much pain:( I'm 3 days post op and am also struggling to get enough fluids...it's so hard!! My doctor told me only room temperature or warmer for all my liquids and that has really helped. My stomach seizes up anytime I had anything cold. Good luck!

I am mamayalley on MFP and fitbit. Add me! I'm only 3 days post op so I'm pretty much only logging water and protein, but I'd love to have fellow sleevers on there;)

Gosh Im Nervous!

We have a pretty similar story. I started my journey 2 years ago and am now 3 days post op. April 16 will be here before you know it. To answer your question YES what you are feeling is totally normal. Today was my first day home from the hospital and I was terrified I was going to screw the whole thing up. Could I get enough water in? Can I drink enough protein? What if I blow this? I'm feeling almost consumed with doubt, but I know of all the success people have had and I keep reminding myself. If they can do it, I can do it. And I'm worth this battle to succeed! I'm here if you ever want to chat:)
8. I'm 3 days post op. Had surgery on April 7. First day went well, second day was pretty rough, and today I'm feeling pretty great... Almost normal. Lol. I'm exited to start to see the scale move:)
9. Have you tried talking to you NUT? This is what they are there for. If you're keeping a log of all you eat and exercises I would call and have a sit down with them. Most of the time they can tell you why this is happening just by looking at your info you supply. Think of them as another tool for you to lose. Hope you can figure it out and get back on track soon????

Oh how I wish this were true for me, but it isn't. I track every single morsel that goes in my mouth, I keep my carbs lower than low, and my food choices pristine. Yet, I'm not losing weight. The party line of VSG is that on such low calories it is impossible not to lose weight. Well, here I am. I exercise 5 days a week, 30 minutes elliptical, full weights rotation. I eat 80+ grams protein, 10-20 grams carbs, 60-90 ounces water, every day. Not only have I stopped losing weight (a month without loss), but I have gained. I do not eat bread, potatoes, rice, grains, etc. I am supposed to be on 600 calories a day.

11. I'm 12 days pre op, but my Dr. told me to weigh daily so I can see how certain foods affect me and my weight. I plan to be on the scale at least twice a day. Lol

What was your breaking point?

What was your breaking point?

My breaking point was Aug 3, 2013. It was my birthday and my husband who HATES roller coasters had surprised me with a day date to a theme park where after 7 years of marriage and begging he was finally going to ride some with me. We waited in line for what seemed like forever only to get on the ride and I couldn't fit! I was holing up the ride, people gathered trying to see if I could pull a little harder if it would close. I finally gave up with everyone staring and whispering as I took my walk of shame off the ride. Worst, most gut wrenching and embarrassing day of my life and my husband felt awful. The following Monday I called Dr. Colquit's office and got the ball rolling. I CANNOT wait to take on that same roller coaster again this year for my birthday. I'm having the sleeve in just 15 short days!
