U can also gargle with bi carb soda each morning. It fizzes up so only use small amount. Then spit. Worked a treat for my dad and it's CHEAP

goosarr_sez got a reaction from 2muchfun in OUCH!
Firstly I have found that reheated meat has been a big no go for me. It always gets stuck.
Rushing to eat is of course another thing to avoid but I had trouble with that until I downloaded an app called Bioring Gastric Band. It has a meal timer and a pouch timer. Search for it in the App Store. Since I started using it I haven't had a single stuck episode.
Hope this helps

goosarr_sez got a reaction from SillyAuntDi in Amazed
IM always amazed by my pre vs post op food intake. Especially when it comes to me being naughty. Like today for instance. I caved and got a cheeseburger. Normally I would have eaten 4-5. Today I barely ate 1. Has anyone else felt as shocked as me with the changes?

goosarr_sez got a reaction from ☠carolinagirl☠ in Band rules you consistently 'break'?
Be realistic about it. Yes the rules are there for a reason however it isn't the end of the world to have a slip. Yes there are consequences to everything but as long as you are aware of your weak spots and do your best to avoid triggers I don't see it as a fail. I want this so badly. I waited 4 years for it. However I have slipped. I'm not going to beat myself up over it though.

Also thanks for the info on signals that it's time to put the fork down. It's something I've always struggled with as I was raised in a house where u couldn't leave the table till the plate was empty.
The hiccup I've had and recognized. The others I have experienced but ignored. I will watch for them more closely now and recognize what they mean.
Thanks so much

goosarr_sez got a reaction from Leepers in Is it just me?
I'm curious to find out if any other banders have had a similar experience. I'm finding that early mornings I'm not hungry at all. As the day goes on I start getting very hungry. I also find it takes more to feel full at dinner time than it did before my fill (have only had 1 fill of 1ml). Also can u please give me any tips on foods to avoid and foods that are great at providing Protein and yet are filling. I'm finding it hard to figure out a good variety of meals and Snacks.< /p>

goosarr_sez reacted to Sharpie in Lapband Failures
From what I am reading the band did not fail you, you failed the band. We all expect to lose magically without effort but that is not reality. If there is nothing wrong with your band and you haven't had a fill or a checkup in 5 years you should contact another Dr. and start working the band like it was intended. I am not sure the purpose of asking for other people who have "failed" bands but I hope you don't give up and want others to verify your diagnosis of a "failed" band. Some people do indeed have slips and issues with the band no doubt just like other WLS there are bound to be failures . Some are from patient non compliance and others are truly a fail from some other cause. Before I gave up though I would consult with another surgeon and make sure your band is no slipped. Best of Luck to you in the future. I am a 67 year old woman who had some of the same medical issues as you and I am no longer on any medication thanks to my Band.

I have been told that just before and during menstration that eating can be more difficult. I've found I can't tolerate meat or bread during this time. I also feel full quicker. Anyone else experienced similar???
