moveandgroove got a reaction from LipstickLady in So, this fasting stuff works.
Just came back on this site after a long while - really looking at ideas to get back on track! I have a little renewed optimism tonight so will try to tighten up restriction and see how that goes. I definately know grazing got me in trouble and after surgery last year to fix a brain aneurysm I am struggling to get my life back! However, I am not ready to give up.

I am glad I wandered on here again tonight!

I too have been in stall for just about 1 year now. I have lost 75 pounds with 45 to go. I have tried everything I can think of. Frustrating to say the least. I am not willing to stop - I had surgery to be at a healthy weight and darn it I am going to do it!

    Moveandgroove,
You have had quite the journey! If my math is right, that means 3 surgeries in 2 years (wls, gallbladder, aneurysm)? Your body has gone through some pretty traumatic experiences in a relatively short amount of time! That is something that you should be proud of working through!
So, let's take a step back and look at what may be going on here. You went from running to recovering from a significant surgery. You had a period where not only could you not exercise, you also could not work. What I get from that is hearing someone that had to go from being active to sedentary very quickly - which may have triggered some of the feelings of "old habits" possibly coming back ("I am terrified...I won't stop gaining...I don't want to waste the surgery...").
What's fueling your doubt? This setback? Does it feel familiar, like a setback in a diet? If it does, step back and look at it again - this is not the same. You have a beautiful tool in your arsenal that you didn't have before. Use it. Go back to basics and pretend it is day one. I remember a very similar time in my own life, about 3 years when I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and though I was going to be put on long term steroids. I thought I was done with my weight loss forever.
Take one step at a time, one foot in front of the other. The fact that you are still reading, still posting, still asking....that says that you still want this.
You can do this. You will do this. Get back out there and walk a little. Don't focus on running, just walk. Remember, even baby steps get you closer to your goal.
    Take care!
    Amanda

    Good article Amanda,
I had my surgery July 2013. My honeymoon period was about a year. As soon as I hit a year - I had my gallbladder removed after months of pain and feeling nausea. I was anxious to get the weight coming off again. My weight hasn't moved for almost a year. I was running 3 x week but not even inches were coming off. This spring I had an emergency surgery for brain aneurysm and just recently started back to work. I haven't started running again and have gained 5 pounds. I am trying desperately to get back on track - I just have to keep remembering why I had the surgery in the first place. I am terrified that if I don't get back up and running real soon and if I gain anymore weight I will not stop gaining. I want to get to my goal weight - I still have about 40 pounds to go. I still have pretty good restriction and I am grateful that I had the surgery - I just don't want to waste the surgery to not get to goal.

I was sleeved July 2, 2013. Unfortunately I have only lost from 263 - 192. I still have about 40 pounds to go but haven't given up yet! My goal is to be finished losing by the end of this year!

moveandgroove reacted to livvsmum in 22 Months Post Op - 155 Pounds Lost - Before & After Pics :-)
So after 22 months, losing 155 pounds, reaching my "dream goal" weight of 125 pounds and healing from my Tummy Tuck and panniculectomy, I took some before/after pics that I feel really embody the new me. It's been such an amazing journey, and I can honestly say that the change has been from the inside out, thanks to some hard emotional work with my therapist, dealing with the "eating issues" that really were not about food at all.
This journey has been absolutely amazing, and while the recovery from the TT was WAY harder than I expected, I wouldn't change any of it for the world. I Think my journey is complete now for the most part. I am waiting on insurance approval for an arm lift, and I was told I would hear by the end of June, so that is the only other thing that could possible make me feel any better physically.
And now that my TT is mostly healed (though i'll be sore for several more months) I'm back to running now, which emotionally makes me feel so much more grounded. It is my meditation.
Anyway....I just thought I would post this here for anyone coming on the "success stories" board to see if the surgery is right for them or could help them. I can tell you that for me, it has provided me the opportunity to make some changes I wasn't able to make before and I'm way happy with the results!
So here are my almost 2-year post op (post TT) before and after pics.

I have not had a carbonated drink in almost 2 years. I don't miss now - but sure did in the beginning. My nutritionist said no alcohol/no carbonation. I would think once you have been out for awhile - perhaps at goal weight a little beer now and then would be ok???

I had similar issues - but I opted for a hysterectomy - this option is not for everyone. I just couldn't function for most weeks out of the month! Quality of life improved greatly. I am now almost 2 years post op from my sleeve - I wish you well and hopefully you will get the weight off so you can have your treatment done. Good luck - keep on your path and you will get there.
