    So, this fasting stuff works.

Just came back on this site after a long while - really looking at ideas to get back on track! I have a little renewed optimism tonight so will try to tighten up restriction and see how that goes. I definately know grazing got me in trouble and after surgery last year to fix a brain aneurysm I am struggling to get my life back! However, I am not ready to give up. I am glad I wandered on here again tonight!

    BC Sleevers

I had surgery with Dr. Malik. His program is 4 weeks of liquids - Glucerna or Boost Diabetic - no food at all for 4 weeks. That is back in 2013.

Thanks so much for your encouraging words Amanda. Those are all questions that are good ones and that I will try to answer for myself. I appreciate your feedback.

    When the Honeymoon is Over

Good article Amanda, I had my surgery July 2013. My honeymoon period was about a year. As soon as I hit a year - I had my gallbladder removed after months of pain and feeling nausea. I was anxious to get the weight coming off again. My weight hasn't moved for almost a year. I was running 3 x week but not even inches were coming off. This spring I had an emergency surgery for brain aneurysm and just recently started back to work. I haven't started running again and have gained 5 pounds. I am trying desperately to get back on track - I just have to keep remembering why I had the surgery in the first place. I am terrified that if I don't get back up and running real soon and if I gain anymore weight I will not stop gaining. I want to get to my goal weight - I still have about 40 pounds to go. I still have pretty good restriction and I am grateful that I had the surgery - I just don't want to waste the surgery to not get to goal.

  9. I too have been in stall for just about 1 year now. I have lost 75 pounds with 45 to go. I have tried everything I can think of. Frustrating to say the least. I am not willing to stop - I had surgery to be at a healthy weight and darn it I am going to do it!

  11. I was sleeved July 2, 2013. Unfortunately I have only lost from 263 - 192. I still have about 40 pounds to go but haven't given up yet! My goal is to be finished losing by the end of this year! You have done remarkably well - congratulations!!

    Liver shriking diet question...

My pre-op diet was 4 full weeks of no food and just drinking diabetic boost. So the total calories were suppose to be around 1000 calories. I was also allowed tea, Water. After not one morsel of food - I only lost 10 pounds in the month prior to surgery!

192 for me this morning. Thank you.
  16. I have not had a carbonated drink in almost 2 years. I don't miss now - but sure did in the beginning. My nutritionist said no alcohol/no carbonation. I would think once you have been out for awhile - perhaps at goal weight a little beer now and then would be ok???

    Is this too optimistic?

I wouldn't have been able to either. Just took me awhile to get with it. I had no pain - just trying to get food in and keep energy up. I was in the hospital for 3 day - so it really depends....which I know that answer doesn't help much:)

    Dealing with ongoing medical conditions

I had similar issues - but I opted for a hysterectomy - this option is not for everyone. I just couldn't function for most weeks out of the month! Quality of life improved greatly. I am now almost 2 years post op from my sleeve - I wish you well and hopefully you will get the weight off so you can have your treatment done. Good luck - keep on your path and you will get there.

CW - 191 one pound at a time!!!
  20. I was on complete liquid diet for 30 days prior to surgery - no food at all! Not sure why it was so long compared to others..... Anyways - after the first week - the headaches for me were gone and I was beginning to handle the radical diet easier. I did avoid a lot of events where eating was happening though - I hadn't told many about my surgery so I didn't really want/need lots of questions about my no eating. Hang in there - I keep that experience in the back of my mind when I think I can't stick to something

    Forget to eat?

I am close to being 2 years out from sleeve surgery. I do forget to eat from time to time. Sometimes I just choose not to eat as I am out and about and there are no good choices - so I think I will eat when I get home - but of course by the time I get home I forget....not a good habit to get into I know!

CW 193 - Thanks again for doing this!
  24. My stats are similar to yours. I had surgery July 2013 and have lost 77 pounds. I have about 40 pounds left to go. Last summer I had my gallbladder removed and then went on a family holiday which was very stressful - I gained 5 pounds and have taken almost a year to get it off! I started running but have recently stopped due to a successful aneurysm surgery. I am hoping to get back at it. I so desperately want the losing phase to be over. I do know when I am eating something I shouldn't be - I think for me the trick is to keep it very simple getting more exercise. It takes alot of playing around with diets and exercise to find what is right combination for you. But the biggest thing that is motivating me now is I don't want to have gone through life changing surgery to not come full circle and reach my goal. So this year I WILL get to goal. Good luck to you - be good to yourself!! Keep trying new things to break the cycle and get back on track.

How long were you off work?

I had the ability to be off longer so I took 6 weeks off. Definately could have gone back around the two week mark but was having difficulty at work before I left so I took the extra time to really heal but also to get on a schedule - start walking - a spend some time with my young girl.
