I had to self pay for mine too. Thats one reason I went to Mexico. I had a great team and the hospital and nurses were great. I have had 2 fills there also. I think the expensive part is keeping myself dressed. My clothes are way to big!! You will be so happy when this is over. Its like starting a new life.

I am not sure why I lost the weight so fast, but I will tell you that Betancourt Medical have been great with support and helping me all the way. I have followed their diet with a few modifacations. I believ I lost fast because I weighed 351 pounds. I am told the bigger you are the faster you lose in the beginning. I go back to the clinic about every 2-3 months to be checked, so my weight loss is all documented. I also have a group of clothes that are huge and I can't wear them so off they go. As soon as I figure out how to attach pictures I will.

The scales are just a tool to tell skinny people they are fat!!! When I slow way down on weight, I am usually dropping inches. I will notice my clothes before the pounds. Smile, we have all made the biggest step of all.You will get there, I guess we are all impatient.

My insurance wouldn't pay either, and I wasn't going to die waiting. We refied our house so that I could have it done. My hubby is an angel for doing it. I had the surgery on 4/15/05 and I am down 106 pounds. It has slowed down now and I just had a second fill, so I am ready to move the numbers down to the tummy tuck area!!! I started at 351+, my scales quite at 350, and I love putting on my old clothes and they fall off. I have gone from seatbelt extender on the plane to pulling the belt a good 10 inches. I love my band!!!!! I would do it all again if I had to....

I also went to Molding Clinic and had a great experience. I am down 106 pounds since 4/15/05. Dr. Huacuz did my surgery. Go check them out at Betancourt Medical.com they are a great group and truly care about you and your sucess.

Dr. Pleatman, I was told the advantage to the fluoroscopy is to make sure the band is ok and not leaking. Is this not an important safe guard for your patients?

There is one in every group and you should not have to suffer for it. I was told the fill should be enough to make you feel full. I just had one done Friday, and I feel full faster and longer. I know in order for my band to do it job, I have to do mine. I am still 90 pounds from goal, but I have lost 104 pounds since 4/15/05 in the first 90-100 days and then it slowed down. I had to go back and review the rules again and I am back on course. Chew, chew, chew. small bites and make it take longer to eat, no water 30-60 minutes before and after. I will say I do sip water once and awhile while I eat depending on the item, but not enought to wash it through the band. I have had so much fun being banded and losing the weight. It is so much better for me that all the diets out there. I am not an expert on the band, but I have barfed with the best, if I can help, let me know.

Mickey, I was banded April 15,2005, I researched for 18 months. The Molding Clinic Surgical Center was neat and clean. They use sterile techniques,gloves, you name it. I had a nurse stay with me the night. It was better there than here!!! They treat you like a queen!! I flew back for my fill and had a ball. We went shopping and took us out to eat and we stayed in a 5 star hotel. I will return for my next fill also.

I have heard of that but I haven't any information. I went to Tijuana for mine in April 05 and I am down almost 100 pounds and I still have 100 to go!!

Hi all, I was banded in Mexico on April 15 and I weighed in at 351 and I am 5'8". Its my birthday 6/26 and I am down to 256!!! I love it. I just had my first fill 2 weeks ago and it was fine. So I can't wait for you all to get banded!!!!

I had that too, we call it lonely mouth syndrome. I usuall tried warm broth. I don't know what your Dr. reccomends, but it helped me.

I was Banded at Molding Clinic in Tijuana for $6500.00. It was my airfare, hotel, hospital, surgery, Dr.'s everything. My mom and daughter only had to pay for air and food. It was the best experience I have ever had. They treat you like family. They took us to meals and shopping . I was given pain meds when I needed and they came to the hotel to check on me. I am in contact with them all the time for check in's and questions. I went back for my fill a week ago and had a ball. I am from Olympia, and you can research them at moldingclinic.com.mex. You can call and talk to them and they will answer questions. I emailed them for 4 months before I decieded. I have gone from 351 to 256 since March-05, I love them!!!!

That is awsome, How can you live on 3 ounces of food?

If I eat or drink artifical sweetners , I crave sugar. How come?

I went to Dr. Fox seminar and he made me angry. He assumed I wanted to get skinny to shop for clothes. I swear, I want to lose weight so I can breath and play with my grandkids and enjoy life. I really don't care about size. I will never be a super model!!!

Thank-you for the imformation. I had to go to the emergency room this weekend and they were so rude to me because I went to Mexico for my banding.

Can anyone tell me who will do a fill in the Seattle area for someone who had the surgery in Mexico? I live in Olympia and they will not do it here. Thank you

I don't know why they give us so much grief when we are trying to lose weight to fit in and to be fit. I wish I was a DR. I would do it for free!!!

I went to Molding Surgical Center in TJ mexico and it cost me $6500 for everything including hotel for my mom and daughter. I was so treated like a Queen. I will return there for my fill and some fun.

I didn't have a skinny dream, I have been big all my life , but I was banded on the 15 of April in Mexico and I have lost 38 pounds since then and 18 before surgery. I have not cleaned out anything yet, but maybe later. You will do so well with this. Keep having good dreams. Love Shirley

I had Lap Band Surgery in Mexico on April 15,05. It is really a different experience. I really have to watch the amount and how small I cut it up and this is probably gross for some, I wear false teeth and I have to put them in or the food dosen't get chewed well enough and boy the pain sets in for me. I love my band so far, I have lost 38 pounds and I feel some better.
