Banders #6
Dammit. Got stuck on chili. I made it with chopped beef instead of ground beef. Bigger pieces. Even well chewed, I got stuck on the first damn bite, so thankfully, I've learned to stop there. Had myself a salad instead. Off to bed again.

Banders #6
Surgery is over. I'm home and wiped out totally. I went to bed. Time to eat. No hunger per se but that's false signals because I'm headachy and my stomach has not stopped growling for the last 24 hours. God bless all our newbie post ops. Surgery, even minor, is a huge deal.

Had my minor "delicate region" procedure today. Feel like a truck ran over me and I still haven't eaten. I took a nap this afternoon. I'll go have some dinner now.

Hair loss?
Well I had my minor non-WLS procedure today under general anesthesia. I asked the anesthesia doc about hair loss. He said nope. Not related to anesthesia. Maybe related to stress in general but not directly to the anesthesia. So here's hoping I don't have another round of hair loss. My new growth is about an inch long and I'm pretty thin all over. On my head, of course. Lol.

BMI 31 - VSG? Would love to hear experiences of similar...
Good for you. You do have to be really ready for a permanent commitment to WLS for it to be successful, as well as to have no regrets and have confidence in the process. I finally got there in 2013 and was banded in 2014. It's the focus of my day every day. But I was ready and wanted it. I still want it. I have no regrets because I was sure. Best of luck to you and know we are always here even if you want to just check in and say hi!!

did you tell people?
You know, I definitely have food issues and consider myself an addict. I was raised by overeating non-drinkers who were raised themselves by alcoholics. Food addiction is all around me. I live with my mom right now, and it's a challenge. We don't eat together. She's a retired widow. I wanted to have supper together when I get home from work at 5pm, but we tried that for a few weeks after I moved in, and she got angrier and angrier at me. Finally I got the reason out of her. She said it's the "3 bites" of food I eat that makes it not worth her waiting for me. She eats "one big meal" at around 2pm each day. Ok. Not a problem. We will just eat separately. Well, one day I came home after half a day at work and let's just say I got between her and her food. Just by showing up, I interrupted her "big meal". Holy crap is all I can say. Seeing this flashed me back to my childhood. I haven't lived with my parents since I was around 21 years old. It all came back. Every one of us would hole up in our respective bedrooms with loads of food each night. We each had a tv as well. Now I literally can't eat with my mom unless we're at a restaurant or unless it's a holiday with company. And that's okay. It is what it is. I go to OA and I get what I need there. She supports my WLS for the most part, but we can't eat together peacefully. HOWEVER. My best friend has been a normal size her entire life until recently. She is cute, my height and wears a size medium top and has a nice waist. She has never. Dieted. A. Day. In. Her. Life. Never ever ever. I don't think she would even know what to do if she was handed a diet. Her older sisters have been both morbidly obese their entire lives. Not my friend. Small top, cute waist. Wide hips. She has her mother's build. "Birthing hips", they used to say. My friend has gained about fifty pounds since her wedding 28 years ago until today, going through menopause at age 55. Every ounce of it is in her rear. She's not happy about it, but she's never once expressed a desire to diet. Right now she weighs more than I do. She pointed that out because I've shared my WLS process and progress with her every step of the way. She's my number one supporter and always loved me, fat or thin. She does not have food issues. She has a fat butt. She'd like to wave a magic wand and make it thinner, but other than that, issue closed. So she's a person raised with obese overeaters, technically obese herself, but free of food issues and addictions and free of any desire to change her eating. So I'm a food addict. But my friend -- nope.

Old Habits, Fear
Well I didn't weigh for years while my weight climbed. Then I had surgery and weighed daily. It was very motivating when I was losing 4 or 5 pounds a week. But when my weight loss slowed and stopped I was dreading the scale each morning. It was making me very anxious. I decided to go to weekly. Once I did, I became motivated again and started to slowly lose again. I don't know why it affects my mood so much but it does. So for now once a week is plenty. I've even thought about just weighing at the doctor but for now I seem to have struck a happy balance.

nsv...i am a skiier!
How cool is that? I went a few times as a teen but barely handled the bunny hill. Just getting off the chair lift sent me flying! It was enormous fun though. Maybe someday....

BariatricPal Launching Online Store to sell Discounted Bariatric Nutritional Products ? (Vitamins, Protein etc.)
Unjury and Quest. I'd like to try other things too that people rave about. Like that peanut butter substitute. So sample sizes would be great.

Sliming
I agree. I had stuck and sliming episodes but it was always from eating too fast and not chewing to paste. Now it's rare but I am still at the same fill level. I really have to work on slow eating and chewing.

It might be time to give the scale to Goodwill. You lived without it successfully before and today it makes you anxious and sad. To the curb!!

Wow. I never thought to ask what anesthesia I'm given. I'm having a minor procedure Friday and I'll be asleep. Hopefully.
