  1. Wow, how did you get so lucky? I still have a little restriction from surgery, but my Dr won't give fills until you are 90 days out. Something about insurance. Speaking of, I'm going to call mine now to check. Good luck, hope you are having some restriction, let us know how it feels since you are the first. patti
  2. Yeah! You did it!!! Welcome to the banded life. It's great here isn't it. You will feel top notch in a few days, trust me. Just rest now and try to drink as much as you can, you do not want a dehydration headache, they never go away!!! patti
  3. I didn't have a pre-op diet, just the day before of Clear liquids to keep my tummy empty. so i think you will be ok. Patti
  4. Sounds like you had a vacation instead of surgery!!! Rosarita Beach, oh I have some fond, and not so fond memories of a sailor and me(18) fo that beach. OK back to reality, congrats on the band, sorry about the bed. Hope it isn't too bad, but don't you go trying to fix it. I pick up a baby and it hurt like heck and she was only 23 pounds. Rest this week and enjoy your time off of work. Welcome to bandland!!!! Patti
  5. Welcome Welcome Welcome to the banded side of life. You are doing great!!! It all feels better in time. Just KEEP walking. I got up ever 1 1/2 - 2 hours, my 6 y.o had a time and made me get out of bed to walk the house and kiss the babies as he called it. It made the world of difference. Patti
  6. Ok I just had to share. Monday is my official weigh day, but for some reason I didn't believe it so I weighed again today and it was still starting with a '1' so it is true. I am officially in ONEDERLAND!!!!! I almost passed out yesterday!!!!! Patti
  7. The difference is that a blender will not mistakenly swallow a noodle that was not chewed. It will mush every noodle to oblivion where your mouth might just miss one, and that is all it take to "hurt like heck" and may cause a slip. My post-op rules were anything that can pour through a funnel, so take anything you want to eat and blend it to the consistancy that it will flow, and there you go. But that was after a full week of Clear liquids. Patti
  8. wow, sounds pretty 'normal'. good luck and speedy recovery. welcome to the banded side of life, it sure is great here.
  9. So, it turns out that not being able to drink so my is not a good thing. I am dehydrated. I seem to have a 'fickle' band as they call it. it is very tight in the morning and loose at night. So i have to drink warm liquids in the am and work my way towards cooler at night. Let me just say that tuna never tastes so good. I am slowly loving every tiny bite. l8tr patti
  10. I am having HUGE problems drinking. I do not know why. I can drink a cup of tea/coffee in the morning, but that is it. For the rest of the day I have to fight with myself to get my liquids in. I used to be a chugger, now I have to be a sipper and I just do not know how to sip. How much is a sip? is it 1 oz, 1/2 oz? I have this feeling in my chest like a golf ball, not sure what that is, I have an appointment tomorrow with my Dr, but I have a feeling that the chugging that I was doing the first week out may have done some damage. Any advice? Patti
  11. 4jin, they all look YUMMY. I can't wait until Thursday to get the OK to start on Mushies!!! that oatmeal looks good, is it the Weight Control? And the refried beans, mmm. OK, back to my tomatoe soup.
  12. And how much are you getting paid by Allergan to bash the Realize band on support websites. That is what this is a SUPPORT webiste. Where people who have a gastric band come for support from each other. Not to get called names or have their surgeions called hacks or money grubs because they choose to use one band over another. Remember it is OUR body it is OUR choice to put in it what WE want to. We are here for SUPPORT. Go do your bashing somewhere else. And I happen to like my Realize band and have no problems with it.
  13. I do not have a braclet. My band came with an ID card that I am to keep in my wallet at all times. It has that I have a Realize Band, my Drs name and phone number and my name. It says" This patient has undergone a surgical procedure to place an adjustable band around the stomach with an injection port, to assist in the treatment of obesity. blah blah blah contact the the surgeon before performing any medical procedures. The gastric band is MRI compatible." I like it because it is not know to the world that I have a medical "issue".
  14. Chipper, sorry that you are having these problems. what are you trying to eat? I was banded on 2/5 and I'm still on the full liquid stage, but others have moved to the mushy stage already. maybe you are not chewing it well enough? or it is too dry. I know that if it is dry it will get stuck, my friend pretty much told me to drown everything in ff sauce until i get used to eating again. so tuna will be wet with ff mayo, chicken w/ ff bbq sauce, see what i mean. if you are PBing everything you eat, that is not right, you shouldn't be, you need to call your Dr and get that checked. I wish you well and better eating. Patti
  15. Hey Amanda, I start MUSHIES on Thursday, looking for some of your FABULOUS recipies. Help a hungry momma out, please.....
  16. Yeah, welcome to Bandlandia!!!!! It is so great to be here and have you join us. You will do GREAT!!!!
  17. Karen is absolutley right. for the first 4 days, i slept. my son cam in every 2 hours and woke me to walk, per the Drs orders, so he says. so i walked to the kitchen, sucked down a sf ice pop and walked back to bed, stopped to kiss babies on the way. by friday, i was shopping and pushing the babies in the stroller at the mall. take it easy. jell-o was good like karen said, just something to 'chew' on. it does get better and easier. and as far as caffine goes, i am allowed 1 cup per day and i do get it. matter of fact i'm going to get some right now. a double peppermint latte sounds good. l8tr. patti
  18. OH MY GOODNESS!! That is so AWESOME!!!!! You are ROCKIN' IT GIRL! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!! Patti
  19. YEAH amy and lori. what great NSVs. That is totally AWESOME!!! I wore my moms jeans to wrk the other day. they are a 14. I'm usually a tight 16. This is GREAT that we are having NSVs so early on. What GREAT motivation.
  20. Oh yes if blended long enough, a banana and Peanut Butter become unnoticable in a shake. my paperwork says **as long as it goes through a funnel. so last night I took some refried Beans from Taco Bell (Happy Valentine's dinner honey) and added some olive oil and hot sauce blended until liquid, and YUMMO! Becca, my list has soft scrambled eggs listed as mushy.
  21. thanks for the update, was starting to worry about you. take it easy. its gets better every day.
  22. hi, those dry heaving episodes, they may have been burps. well at least that is what my burps were the first 2 days post op. i even called the dr's office and made the nusrse on staff listen over the phone to it happening. she said it was burps. it hurt like heck, but no damage to the band and walking made it go away by the 3rd day. congrats on being banded, welcome to the banded side of life. patti
  23. I've got a Realize band. It is put out by J&J, but it is the 'old' Swedish band, just renamed for used in the US.
  24. yes, i'm on full liquids until my 2 week follow up and then mushies for 2 weeks, then i can start working in solids. I tell you what, I really don't miss 'food' but i do miss chewing. it was funny, last night while the family was eating and I was dining on a protien shake, which was fab by the way, I was chewing it. My 6 y/o, says, 'mom, your chewing your drink, are you nuts?' we all just starting laughing so hard it hurt so bad.
  25. Congrats on being a Bandie! and a NON smoker!!!!! It only gets easier from here!!!!!
