1. Oh you poor baby. Constipation is no fun. I've had diarrhea since day 2 so I'm lucky on that front. Try drinking some prune or apple juice. It could be the narcotics slowing your system.
2. Congrats on making this decision for yourself!! I'm so sorry to hear your best friend isn't being supportive. I've learned awhile ago that some people enjoy you being fat because it makes them feel better about themselves. They aren't real friends if they aren't supportive of you. I know how you feel about having "friends" and family not include you because of your weight. My sister excluded me from her wedding because she thought I was too fat. Ignore their negativity and keep positive. These people are better to be kept as aquaintances. This journey will help you discover who your real friends are. I was also afraid about the dr issue. I've had them judge me all my life and because of it a very life threatening illness was undiscovered untill I took control and pushed them to look further. But you will find out that most medical personnel are great cheerleaders in this journey. They are excited for you and tend to be very accommodating. However, If you find some bad apples just ignore them. There are many more people routing for you. Good luck on your journey, I look forward to hearing how it goes!
3. Ugh I'm so sorry you had to wait extra. I had the same prob. My surgery started at 1 but it was delayed untill 330 because the person before me had complications. BUT all went well. Might be a blessing in disguise because they will be extra careful with you. Best of luck!
4. Age: 28 Wt: 360 ish Ht: 5'6 Bmi: 59 Comorbidities: CVID (immune deficiency), knee/ back pain, depression, anxiety, peripheral edema, pcos, borderline htn
5. Haha I did the exact same thing. I had my house spottless. Including moving furniture and cleaning under it! But it was short lived. 2 days in the hospital the boys of my life (husband, 2 yo son, and brother) had it messed up. I never got to enjoy the clean house lol. BUT it helped a lot with the jitteriness and helped keep me busy so I didn't think of the preop diet.
6. Fever is gone but the swelling has turned a light pink. I'm going to call the surgeons office tomorrow. Thanks for asking
7. The preop diet sucks, but it will go by quick and it's very worth it. My Dr was planning to do a liver biopsy at same time as my sleeve because my preop tests showed fatty liver (its his standard practice), but he said when he got in there my liver looked great so he didn't need to! Try doing stuff to distract yourself. I cleaned to get ready for surgery. You can do this!!
8. I have FINALLY gotten in 48 oz of water. next goal is 64oz. The intense pain i get with eating/drinking has lessened. I can now take a few sips before feeling the pain instead of with every sip so that helps.
9. Yes I have pain in that side. Feels muscular and stiff, like I've done a ton of sit-ups. I took my meds and that helped the fever, and I put ice on the swelling and it brought it down some. I think I'll wait on the dr unless it gets worse. It does seem to be better today then yesterday. I'll update when I know more.
10. No leak test. I asked about it but they said it wasn't ordered.
11. My surgeon won't be in until tuesday. I don't want someone to do me, I just want to know if this is normal and if someone has had it what it was.
12. All my incisions are in front of my stomach, the swelling is on the left side, no where near the incisions. It's probably about about 13 by 10 inches. So it's not small. As for fever... I woke up after my nap and felt off so I took my temp and it was 101.7 Normally I have a low temp after waking up (hypothyroidism). I was hopi g it was unrelated that's why I didnt.mention it.
13. I'm having the same issue, except I have the unflavored Protein powder and I can still smell and taste it! I tries mixing it with a few things but it changed the consistency so I put it in flavored water. It was nasty and I ended up throwing up (first time throwing up). The ONLY thing I've been able to stomach is the liquid Protein tubes. I take a drink of it a couple times a day so I'm sure to absorb it. Good luck and if you find something else that helps please share.
14. I'm 6 days post op and I've noticed that the past two days I've had increased swelling on my left side. I noticed it after I woke up from a nap. I was sleeping on my back and slightly to my left. When I got up there was a lot of pain so I looked in the mirror and there was a visible spot where there was swelling with an indent where the top of my pants laid (please note I wore very very loose pants so there's no reason for an indent except from sleeping on it). Now I've noticed it even if I don't sleep on the side (it's there all day) Has anyone experienced this before? Is it normal? My imagination is running wild and I'm afraid it's a leak and the increased water has leaked out of the sleeve(I could only get in 8oz but been working on 32 the past 2 days).
15. I have the same symptoms and it makes it extremely hard to get all my fluids, not to mention protein! I have yet to figure out how to fix it. If you figure it out please share.
16. I've only been able to get about 30-40 so your ahead of me! And I've been allowed pureed since the second day. If it weren't for the liquid Protein tubes I don't think I'd even get that. Maybe you can try those.
17. If you find out please let me know, thanks!
18. I wish I had thought if that before I left. If they call me for the post visit survey I'll be sure to mention that. Thanks for the suggestion!
19. Wow, small world! Maybe, but there were 3 of the nurses acting like that. Maybe it was just an off day. I'm feeling better, still feel like I did a million sit ups and it hurts every time I eat/drink anything but I'm able to walk and do more so improvement
20. Haha I'm glad u asked cause I was too embarrassed to lol. I know with this pain I'm in no shape to do either, but it would be nice to know when my hubby and I are cleared for fun.
21. So at what point did you start to lose the water weight gained from the IV fluids? When they weighed me in the hospital it showed I gained about 7-8 pounds. I'm just curious when that went away for you
22. Absolutly! I'm nervous at every little gurgle and pain. I have a 2 yo who doesn't understand the need to be careful with mommy. For the most part he's been excellent but there have been a few times he's lightly fallen on my stomach. That has left me really scared!
23. Good for you.... I'm not counting what I'm eating/drinking. I'm having a hard time consuming more than ice chips (hurts when i eat or drink) so I consider it an achievement that I'm drinking water.
24. I had to do that. What got me through it was pork rinds (has 9 grams Protein and NO carbs) and string cheese. Also mushrooms. I love love love mushrooms so I'd have hamburger and mushrooms, or spaghetti sauce and meat balls over mushrooms. Just get creative and look up recipes online
