  1. Don't get me wrong, I'm very very greatful for all the weight I've lost. Any amount is good... BUT for my starting surgery weight (347) and age (28) I'm considered a slow loser (doesn't help I stalled for 1.5 months). Losing 58 pounds in 6 months seems a little low for those stats. And I never had the rapid weight loss of a honeymoon period that I hear so much about. I've had to work hard for every pound. I think the reason I freak over this the most is because my surgeon was disappointed in my weight loss at my last appointment. Hard not to feel like a slow loser when the experts think u are.
  2. That would be nice. I hope your right!
  3. My biggest fear is the "honeymoon" period. If its THIS time of my weight loss that I'm supposed to be losing fast (and I'm this slow) then how slow will it be when its suppose to slow down ??
  4. I'm a slow loser as well. 6 months out and have lost 58 lbs since surgwry. It's so frustrating to see people at my starting weight or lower who have lost nearly a hundred pounds. It's very discouraging. My mom said something to me that put things into perspective for me tho. Would I have lost this much presurgery? The answer is definitely not and I keep trying to remind myself of that. Of course it's hard when I keep thinking I won't make goal and will disappoint everyone (mainly surgeon who was upset with my numbers last month)
  5. Well I unfortunately have kept it. I can get really bad attacks that feel like contractions.but don't worry, it's rare. If it lasts for more than a month id tell ur surgeon tho.
  6. Wendiebryant.... its Esophageal spasms, usually goes away with time
  7. Yeah I've resorted to slider foods too. I feel like so much of a failure for it. How far out were u before the docs decided revision was best? How much have u lost? I'm on double dose omeprezole, ranitidine, carafate and nitroglycerin. Good luck with ur insurance!
  8. Zunbapink..... I feel for ya, I have a tough time exercising too. I have an immune deficiency and get sick alot. Between that and being in pain every time I eat, exercising is the last thing on my mind. I struggle with eating and have resorted to the bad habit of grazing just to get ANY food in. My surgeon got upset with me when I told him that tho. But seriously, does HE exercise when he has the flu? I hope your revision goes well. Please keep in touch, I havnt had one but I think it's heading it that direction
  9. Thanks for the reply mickally. Wow and I thought my 40 mg was bad lol. Ice to know I could still go up on it tho. My spasms are much better, think that was brought on by the vomiting for the tummy flu. Still got gastritis and it's now turning into reflux. Woke up last night with pain and spent 4 hrs regurgitating my dinner. Not cool
  10. Yeah I'm almost positive its from post nasal drip. Have had a sinusitis and a cough for a week. I've never had laringitis before so this is new territory for me. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try them
  11. I have laringitis, my voice goes in and out but for the most part... it's gone. I've tried tea, honey, cough drops etc... My brother suggested a hot tautie, but I told him that was a big no no for the sleeve (I'm not too hot on drinking anyways). Got any ideas for treatment that are sleeve freindly?
  12. I eat the same portion size consistently but every day feels different. Sometimes I can only eat half, Some days I want more (want but don't give in) and some days it's JUST right. Lol its like my tummy is goldilocks
  13. I'm so glad you asked this question. I've had the same issues and I was thinking it was all in my head! Lol
  14. Hi artsong, thanks for replying. How long were you sleeved before they converted u to rny? Have you noticed an improvement? How has your weight loss been compared to the sleeve?
  15. Vsgann- yes that would be nice. If I don't get any answers I'll suggest it to one of them. Probably my immunologist because he's all about working with other docs. Drmeow- that's a very good point. I'm starting a new treatment soon so I'll make an appointment and try to pick his brain.
  16. Thanks proudgrammy..... my drs seem to be clueless. My surgeon has no idea about my immune system issues and my immunologist doesn't know the weightloss surgery stuff. Admittedly I havnt asked him about this issue so I will try when I see him next. I was hoping someone here had experience with it too. Looks like not.
  17. I have an immune deficiency that was discovered because my Protein lvl (presurgery) was consistently low. It turns out that immunoglobulins are just Proteins...And since mine were severely deficient, it showed up in a normal blood test. Despite many treatments, my lvl stayed low. After surgery and losing about 50lbs my immunoglobulin level rose significantly. I also noticed that I would always lose my weight right after an infusion (big boost of immunoglobulins (protein). For some odd reason, my immunoglobulin levels have plummeted again (back to presurgery levels). And with it, my weight loss has completely stalled. I've tried eating less, eating more, getting active but nothing is helping. I know that my particular situation is extreamly rare, however I also know that with weight loss surgery people can get protein deficieny. So I'm curious, for those of you who have dealt with protein deficiency, did you notice a stall with your weight loss during this time? Did things pick back up once the deficiency was corrected?
  18. I've heard of it being done for gerd, but I've never heard of it being done for gastritis/esophageal spasms (which I have). I actually WANT to have this done because its miserable being in pain and never knowing when ill have a bad attack. But my surgeon hasn't mention anything but more testing (for what?) If this current treatment doesn't work (its not) I really hope you don't have to get another surgery you don't want. Good luck!!
  19. That's a good idea, I wish I could say I thought liquids would help the spasms, even water hurts! But it definetly couldn't hurt to give it a break. I'm gonna try that starting tomorrow.
  20. I've been in a stall for a little over a month and it's driving me bananas. Normally I will lose about 4-5 lbs after an infusion, but this time I GAINED 3 lbs. Since then I havnt lost anything. I had a stomach bug for a few days that had me vomiting alot, and then the gastritis/esophageal spasms I get worsened. This made it so I ate very little. I've heard that sometimes increasing calories can break a stall so I wanted to try that, but with esophageal spasms everytime I take a bite I'm miserable. I'll admit I resorted to slider foods to get the calories in. I never went over 1200 calories tho. Normally I top out at 1000. Ive had no change. What do I do????
  21. My dr said the symptoms i had were definetly esophageal spasms but she also thinks I have a second issue with my gallbladder. I was given double the dose of prescription strength omeprezole, carafate, and ranitidine to take daily. And nitro glycerin for the bad spasms. So far it's not working but I'm told to give it 2 months. Surgeon was useless, so at least I know he doesn't think the symptoms are a leak or anything sleeve related. Please keep us updated on your progress. I'd love to know what other drs do about it.
  22. Haha, maybe its a gastroenterologist thing. Too much talk about s*** is rubbi g off on then I could but then I'd risk paying $35 to someone new and they may turn out to be an a** as well. At least I don't have to pay copay for this guy. Your right tho, I will keep at it till something is done.
