  1. Eclectick- Hmmm, I think my profile is defective... so my stats are as follow HW: 364 SW:347 CW:292 So I've lost 72 in 7 is months, 55 of that in the 5 months since surgery. At my 3mo check up I had lost 40 lbs, so I think he was disappointed that I only lost an additional 15 in 2 months. Logically i know 55 lbs in 5 mo tha is awesome, but I'm currently in a stall so I'm sensitive over not losing and him getting upset with me rubbed me the wrong way.
  2. Gal friday- I have one, you know what he said when I told him I'd been throwing up? "Yeah that's going around".... at the time I thought it was a bug too so I didn't persist. I'm gonna try to do this regimen but I'm not gonna wait 2 months, then I'll have my dr put in a referal with him about this.
  3. Try putting some Vicks rub under your nose, it helps
  4. Thanks pac-woman. .. it's nice to know I'm not crazy thinking this was all so off. Unfortunately, I already have an internist (I have an immune deficiency so I see an internist, immunologist, gastroenterologist, pulmonologist, and pcp) amazingly they aren't very good. With the exception of my pcp that is. She's really awesome but your right, there's only so much she can do. I live in alaska and go to the Indian health care center. They don't have a variety of specialists, and they won't touch anything to do with the surgery. I feel stuck, like I just have to deal with the burning of gastritis and spasms every time I eat. I want LESS meds, not more. I think what upsets me most is he pretty much brushed me off and then made me feel like a failure.
  5. I went to see my surgeon about some gastritis and esophageal spasms I've had. He was NO help. He said he has no idea and I've already done what he would have asked me to do (egd, meds ultrasound) so for the next month just continue what my pcp prescribed me (double dose omeprezole, ranitidine for gastritis and nitro for spasms) and hope it goes away. He than said something that indicated he was disappointed in me for my amount of weight loss. So now I'm in pain, discouraged AND depressed.
  6. I had the same issue, even tested negative for cdiff. It got alot better by 2 months.
  7. I agree with jamielogical there's is a wide range between the types of foods. I'm 5 months post op and I can eat the amount s of the following. .. Chicken 1/4 cup or 1 ounce Fish 1/4 cup or 1 ounce Beef 1/4 cup or 1 ounce Soup 1 cup stew 1/2 cup Spaghetti 1/2 cup In general the more liquidy the food, the more I can eat
  8. So I'm curious, who has been diagnosed with esophageal spasms post surgery? What was the cause? Treatment?
  9. My dr is thinking I may have that in addition to the esophageal spasms. She already did an ultrasound that didn't show stones but she says that sometimes there are stones or sludge that don't show on an ultrasound. I'll keep updating as I learn more
  10. Pcp says it's esophageal spasms with possible gallbladder involvement. She increased my omeprozole for the constant spasms (the ones I get every time I eat or drink) and gave me nitroglycerin for the bad spasms (the ones that last hours and make me cry). Had no idea they give heart attack meds for the tummy! She also said to let her know what my surgeon said. I see him tomorrow.
  11. That's a great attitude to take! at least u know it may be an option tho. Odd that they are essentially saying the sleeve stops working
  12. I have not been fated to have a revision. But I'm fearing that's where things are heading. Mickally: what kind of meds did you try ? How long did you have issues before they revised you? How much weight have you lost? Padraigma613: do u know why you gained the weight back? Was it because the stomach acid mimicked hunger and you ate more or is there another reason?? What was done for your Gerd?
  13. Im not exactly sure where to post this question since its kind of an in-between topic, so I apologize in advance if you see this in two locations…. For all those people who originally had the sleeve and were converted to the bypass, I was curious to know WHY? What was your journey? For those who had to have this done do to gastritis, what was done for that before they jumped to conversion? Did anyone have to have this done because of stomach spasms?

  15. I did not have a fever, but yesterday i DID. I can for the most part keep fuilds down. I was in my infusion when this severe spasms came on. They almost cancled it but instead gave me zofran (for nausea) and ranitidine (for gastritis). It ended up working... so long as i didn't eat or drink anything. I continued to use both over the weekend and as long as i kept up on them i was fine. This morning however i took them, and had the spasms AGAIN! My pcp is out till thursday but i have an apt with her then. Im waiting till my surgeons office opens now to call and ask them about it. I have a feeling they will say its gastritis causing esophageal spasms and really what can be done for that??
  16. Did you find out what this is? I'm having the same issue. I had this for the first 2 weeks post surgery but then it stoped. Now im 5 months post op and having it again. I was given ranitidine on friday which helped, and as long as i took it first thing in the morning and before eating i was ok. but now not even that is working.
  17. Im 5 months post surgery. I've had a tummy bug for the last 4 days. Dizziness, Nausea and vomiting. Then randomly I'll be starving so I'll force myself to eat. Then I get light stomach spasms, nausea, and light vomiting. Today I wake up with a bad headache but nausea is better so I eat. Now the nausea is back and the spasms are horrendous. Like they were right after surgery. Do I worry this is something wrong with my sleeve or is it just that my sleeve is irritated from throwing up??
  18. Aleena: Wow, good for you! Have you always done that much exercise or did you start at a certain point? I've been horrible on the exercise front. Every time i go to the gym I get sick and since i have an immune deficiency i get sick for a LONG time. And of course once i stop exercising its hard to get back into a rhythm. Lulah: I completly know the feeling (sick). How are you doing now?
  19. Lulah: yeah I gain alot of water weight during my time too. So annoying. Woah! 43 lbs in 2 months?! We're u extremely strict with the diet and exercise? Congrats for being close to goal
  20. Aleena: wow 135lbs is awesome! Did you do much exercising?
  21. Countrygrrl: I know what u mean. I had chocolate too. I was totally beating myself up about it untill my mom figuratively smacked me upside the head & reminded me that I've always had a ravenous craving for chocolate when pmsing. Just because I got a surgery didn't mean I stopped being a woman. So I forgave myself. Aleena: thanks, I hope it stays normal too! I heard that people keep losing up to 18mo to 2 years. If you dont mind me asking, how much did you lose a month? Was there a certain month that the weight loss seriously slowed or did you pretty much stay consistant? How many calories do u eat? Shizwiz- oh I so hope you don't end up having to deal with this. It's really tough. I went batty at first not sure if it was my hormones, or gastritis, my surgery failed or what. Turned out it was both hormones and gastritis. Talk about a double whammy lol. Try warning your bf that the next couple weeks you will be very hormonal. It helps to let them know that u understand that your gonna be wacko. My hubby was really good about it.
  22. Oh thank god, its very nice to know im not alone. This has been driving me nuts and i hadn't seen anyone else mention it so thought i would put it out there. Lulah: Im 5 months out. I listen to my sleeve when its full so thats why i've been able to find a trend. Aleena: Oh wow, i've had crazy irregular periods too. Some times every other week, some times every 3 weeks or once a month. The past 2 month have been pretty normal. I'm hoping it stays that way. How long did it take for you to normalize? Did either of you find that you lost less or slower because of this?
  23. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed a trend with their menstrual cycles or if its just my own special weirdness. Ive noticed that in the PMS stage of my monthly cycle (ie, 1-2weeks before my period) I am extra hungry & i can eat MORE volume. For example, for that 1-2 weeks I can eat 3/4-1 cup of soft food & 80+ oz of Water, or about 2oz of chicken. BUT during my period to the week after i have a hard time getting 1/4 a cup of soft food or 1 oz of chicken & i struggle to get all my fluids. I've have found research connecting the menstrual cycle with hunger, but i haven't been able to find anything regarding capacity. Not sure if its because woman without wls don't think about it and/or because the sleeve is still fairly new so no studyies have been performed. Anywho, i was wondering if any other sleeve patients had noticed this.
  24. Just eat the toppings and tell anyone who asks that your cutting out carbs
