  1. Im gonna get mine checked again next week cause I'm having some pretty severe muscle burning/weakness (think the feeling u get after holding your breath for a long time), dizziness and tiredness. My last test showed I was slightly anemic, had low vit d and a mildly high PTH level (due to low vit d). So my vit d was doubled and an iron pill added. I'm wondering if these symptoms are a worsening of these issues, or something new. I didn't have them when I had that blood test. Anyone else experience this?
  2. It could definetly be gastritis. I denied that it was for awhile because I was taking double strength ppi, but turns out mine was so bad that I needed double prescription strength omemprezole, ranting AND a course of carafate. Definitely look into it
  3. I was disappointed in the responses I got. Im not 1+ year our But I've pretty much got my answer. I'm now 9 months out and I can say for sure that the honeymoon period is over. My weight loss has slowed dramatically. I find that despite still having restriction and not being able to eat much, it's almost like I don't have the sleeve. Ive significantly increased my activity and I watch my food like I did pre surgery and have barely lost a pound this past month. So I think in my case it's safe to say that yes you can get even slower at losing lol
  4. Does this actually help tighten your skin or just help to hold you in? I was looking to get one either way but was curious.
  5. Had a huge NSV victory this weekend. My 3y/o son rode his bike and I ran along side him. Not only did I keep up, I was actually running faster, and not getting tired!! To have the energy and health to play with my son nearly had me in tears. I'm so happy
  6. So the median number for your ideal weight is 97.5lbs. Subtract that from your current weight (223) and you get how much you need to lose (125.5). Take that number, and multiply it by 0.65 (65%). And this is the number they think you will lose (81.6lbs)
  7. What pills does he think will help that the wls couldnt?
  8. I have to re-phrase my response. I did not think the weight would fall off. I did think it would be easier when eating so little tho. I didn't think eating 1000 or less a day would leave me only losing 3 lbs a month... or less. And with a starting weight of 347, I honestly thought I'd lose more. After all, every one says the higher the bmi, the more weight u will lose faster.
  9. Yes, think about it all the time. I honestly wish I had gotten the bypass. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled with the amount I've lost so far, but If I could do it over again I'd get the bypass.
  10. I sure hope the body liking a set point isn't the case. Most of my life i was around 260-280.... That would put me right were my body likes to be... It would definitely explain why its so hard to get over this weight though (i keep going between 274-278). I wonder if we get below the hurdle if it will get easier, or even harder? Ugh, yes, sugar is my most horrible habit as well. Carbs in general. I made the HUGE mistake of believing that a calorie deficit was a calorie deficit no matter what the calories were made of and i could still lose. For my body, WRONG. Me and carbs dont mix. Took me 8 months to figure it out, but i know now. Let me know how things go after you get over your hurdle. Good luck!!!
  11. That it an excellent idea! Im gonna try that this Friday
  12. Thanks so much, its really nice to not feel alone. Your absolutely right, i love the advice to stop looking behind me. I think i get so caught up in having screwed up that i forget that i have the power to change. OK, looking forward NOW!
  13. @@*Lexie* I'm so glad this thread could help u. It's definetly helping me. My momma asked me a good question "would I have lost this much weight if I didn't have the surgery". Truth is no, I wouldn't have. At least not in this amount of time. So no matter how much I wish I would lose more. I'm very greatful to this amazing tool.
  14. @@KingMoose lmao, I was so the same way! All my friends couldn't understand how I was sweating, outside in Alaska in minus degree weather! Heck, I still can't believe it. It's nice be semi normal (although yes, colder then usual).
  15. @@maggie409 I've lost 70lbs in 8 months, and an additional 20lbs a few months prior. So about 90lbs in 11 months. And your absolutely right, THAT is not failure. I'm very proud of myself for that. It's the lack of exercising and "cheating" with food that I've failed at. I have a bad habit of using my infusion days (every friday) as an excuse to eat whatever I want. This in turn puts me on a bad path to eating so by Monday I'm feeling huge guilt and am mad at myself. I needed to own up to it so I felt obligation to stop. At 8 months the "honeymoon" period is over and I know I gotta shape up. Thank you for the reminder! And that's a great quote. I think I'll start a quote book with all these good quotes and read them when I'm lost.
  16. @@AvaFern I really like that saying and it's so true.
  17. Congrats on getting back too it. I just recently gave myself a kick in the butt too. What kind of exercise do you do? Right now I'm mainly doing walking. It's the beginning of summer in Alaska (which is like one big state holiday) so as a family were doing alot of walking, biking, hiking. I doubt we will see a gym again till September Keep up the good work and keep us updated
  18. @drmeow – Yes I’ve done quite a bit of soul searching and have come up with a few reasons to my weight issues. Started when I was very young. The genes in my family are actually to be extremely skinny, but I have CVID (an immune deficiency) that makes me sick a lot. When I was an infant I would get seizures when I got over heated/a fever. This made my mom switch my time schedule so I lived at night and slept during the day (can’t be very active at night), and then a particularly bad seizure had the doctors convincing my mom to put me on a medication. This medication, while saved my life, slowed me down and increased my appetite. Since I was living at night, food became an activity. Then things turned emotional. I had gained a little weight and got teased by peers and siblings. That’s when I started eating for comfort (which ended up being compounded by many hard times and abuse). Somewhere along the way (probably about the time I started getting sick a lot) I started eating for energy, that’s my worse habit, I get sick, have no energy, and to make it through my many obligations I grab a high carb snack for a quick lift. And because im sick, I don’t have the energy to exercise it off. Now all that compounded by the fact that I have PCOS, and an extreamly stressfull life (wont go into it) and its no wonder im overweight lol. I am working on all this though. I realize that it wont all be fixed right away, or even within a year. Im well aware that its an ongoing progress, I just keep sliping . Thank you for the suggestion of the book, I will look into that. Is there a specific book of the series you would suggest?
  19. @@Alex Brecher your right, I do know im not a failure for being at 278. I’m very extatic that I’ve lost all the extra weight I gained. I think why im feeling like a failure is twofold 1. Ive read that were supposed to lose between 50-60% of our excess weight, and if we don’t, the surgery is considered a failure. 2. I’ve had bad eating habits (even tho I eat under 1200 calories a day, I’ve eaten a lot of crap) and I havn’t exercised as much as I should. I KNOW I could do better, its in my power and I know that…. And that is what ive failed at. I do like your idea of giving myself more time and focusing on other things. Im going to try the one day at a time thing. I think I get too overwhelmed when I think long term. Hmm, its very possible that the fear of failure is holding me back. Im a big people pleaser so failing the expectations of people (namely the surgeon) terrifies me. Know of any way to get over the fear? I appreciate all your suggestions, you’ve given me much to think about and I promise I will ponder it completely.
  20. @@Countessjessless a particularly nasty cough can still continue after the infection had cleared with antibiotics. It's called a post infection cough. They can last about a month. Not fun. If you find that your short of breath, wheezing or its getting worse try going back to your pcp for a different antibiotic. Sometimes the bug doesn't respond to one kind. Hope you feel better soon. It will all be worth it when your buying those new cute clothes
  21. Lmao @@VSGAnn2014
  22. Your right, that would be awesome to see how it compares ! I think the biggest difference is that the one on my fitness pal is only based on numbers where as the one at the gym is based on numbers AND your oxygen levels. I'm really curious to know why it is I only eat 800-1200 calories and I'm not losing. I'll keep u informed
  23. So im very proud of myself. I have reached 10,000 step every day, included a small amount of cardio (i need to build up), Eaten about 800 calories every day of healthy food (with an exception of a few slips), but most of all, I did this while being sick (sinus infection/chest crud). In the past i would use feeling this bad to sit on my butt or eat bad, but this time ive pushed through. Im just hoping it goes away soon, im exhausted!
  24. I didn't get it done at either, they didnt even mention it....I had to make an appointment with someone at my gym.
  25. They use a machine to test your oxygen or something and it tells u how fast or slow your metabolism is.... I'll let you know more details after I get it done. Apt is wensday
