    Lmao good for you!
  2. How long is your preop diet?? what kind did you have to do ? I'm curious because I to did the horrible food funerals and I'm so afraid I messed something up. I'm on day 3 of my preop and I feel like I'm constantly eating. I'm only required to do a high protein low carb (no more than 30 a day) diet. My prob is that without carbs I don't feel satisfied so I end up snacking on cheeses and what not. I wasn't given a calorie allowance but I feel like it's way more than it should be (1500-1800)
  3. Omg I'm so glad to read I'm not the only one who has become obsessed. Its all I've been able to think about. My poor husband has been bombarded with the tv shows, the before/after photos, having to hear snipets of other peoples posts etc.. He says I'm addicted to this site (jokingly) and he's right. The first thing I do in the morning is grab for my phone to read the newest posts. Sometimes I even wake up in the middle of the night!! At work i used to constantly research and read the forums and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get my concentration to focus back on my work. That's better now since I got a new manager who needs my help a lot. I don't have time to indulge my obsession all day, but I do sneak into the bathroom and read a few posts periodically through the day. I just hope I keep this obsession after I get the surgery!!!
  4. What is a metabolic tracker exactly? If you don't mind me asking, how was your emotional eating more complicated..
  5. Thanks guys! Its good to know the time frame. Im REALLY not looking forward to the headaches but i know its a necessary evil. Whoever said this was the easy way out is seriously outa their minds! Geelynn: im so excited for you. i hope your surgery goes well! Selena Hay: I made the mistake of having some tortilla chips with my taco salad last night. I ended up going 7 carbs over (miscalculated grrr). Its amazing how fast those can add up!
  6. Betterlife4me- Thats the weirdest thing. If i were asked what one food i would take with me on a desert island it would be hands down Protein. Im a HUGE protein fan. I crave it constantly. m not having issues with low carb recipes, i have those in abundance. My problem is that im craving carbs like crazy and no amount of protein leaves me satisfied. Im not sure if its totally head hunger and im having issues with the word "no", or being sick right now my body is craving something (first had a tummy bug now have a respiratory infection, its going around the office and i got it bad), or ive just been more dependent on carbs than i ever realized. This is just odd for me. How does your new diet given to you by the NUT differ from what you found to work?
  7. Yes exactly! Those hidden carbs are crazy. I didn;t realize just how much i was dependent on them untill i had to cut back.
  8. Ive just recently started my pre-op diet and while i have it pretty easy compared to most (I have a high Protein, low/no card diet) the low carb part of the diet (no more than 30g a day) is driving me nutty. I never realized how much i was dependent upon carbs until now. I read somewhere (not sure where) that the more carbs you eat, the more you crave. So i suppose my body is going through withdrawals. Did anyone have the same issues? How long before you stopped feeling deprived?
  9. im interested to know the answer to this question too. I havn't had surgery yet but im on prophylactic antibiotics and my surgeon knowns about it. He never said a word about it being an issue
  10. For me the weight gain was a mix of medical and emotional. The medical prompted the emotional which prompted bad eating habits and it was a downhill effect from there. I just recently put all the peices of the puzzle together. I think KNOWING what caused my weight gain helps alot tho.
  11. Does the gym have a "family" work out room? I have the same issues you do. Sever social anxiety, mainly weight related. My husband and I joined a gym which also has a family work out room. It's got the older equipment in it so barely anyone goes in there. It helps alot
  12. I'm not sure about all surgeons but mine didn't have any bad reviews. Maybe talk to him about your concerns?
  13. Lmao thank u for that laugh. I have a stomach bug today and I toughed it out at work running back and forth to the bathroom so this hits home.
  14. I start my preop diet tomorrow! I'm very lucky because my surgeon only requires high protein, low/no carb. It couldn't have come at a more perfect time. I've got a tummy bug and the sight of food is icky. Hopefully I can get rid of it before surgery tho, I'm terrified they will cancel the surgery =/
  15. I did ALOT of research to find the best unflavored protein and came up with NOW whey protein isolate (technically considered 2nd best but I liked the price better). What makes it good is how they filter it (high quality filtration to leave the added benifits), the protein to calorie ratio, low (nearly no) carbs/fat/sugar and Low sodium (some had upwards of 700mg!! But this only has 45mg). I just got it in yesterday (5 lb for 64.99 on amazon) and I'm very pleased to say it really is unflavored.
  16. You can also get an unflavored protein powder and mix it with your food / drinks. I just found a great one. I was skeptical about the "unflavored" claim. I'm EXTREMELY sensitive to taste/smell/texture and was pleasently suprised that it was indeed unflavored. It's a whey protein so I'm not sure if that fits your vegan lifestyle but perhaps you can find an unflavored vegan base powder. Good luck
  17. Yay! Keep us updated of your progress
  18. Havnt had my surgery yet but just wanted to say I'm so sorry you've had such a rough time. If you don't mind me asking, what caused all the complications?
  19. Also be aware that some beef jerky is loaded with sugar
  20. I'm a little confused. .. isn't throwing up advised against since it can stretch the sleeve?
  21. I love this thread, it helps alot. I'm getting the sleeve on Aug 25th and have been having a lot of second guessing. I know the sleeve is the right choice for ME but I can't help being afraid I won't lose like I want. Knowing others have succeeded with it helps alot. Thank you all for sharing.
