I never did find a shake that I liked at all but I have found that I could tolerate Isopure. The thickness of shakes just make me want to gag, but Isopure has the consistency of plain Water and there are several flavors. You can try them (one bottle at a time) at GNC without having to buy a bunch until you know if you like them. I hope that anybody coming to this site will refuse to buy something that anyone connected with the surgery says you "MUST" purchase. They are just pushing something they sell and not looking after your best interests. Good luck with your journey.

I cannot tolerate any whey Protein Shake. I have found a shake called rockin refuel. 12 oz 30g Protein 12 carbs. I have this everyday for Breakfast it is a milk based but lactose free shake. I buy it at the Giant and it is in the dairy aisle.

I concurr with what @rbtnln says. Your head says "I'd love to have a three piece fried chicken dinner from Church's!" but try to do it and your sleeve will tell you that you can force down about half a piece and it won't be pleasant. The VSG is seriously a self-policing weight loss procedure. Hang in there, it will get better.

Just a word of advice - if you do give into your cravings, I guarantee your body's reaction will be so awful you won't do it again. I craved Cookies. Bad. I finally gave into temptation about 2 weeks after I went on solids. BAD mistake. I was so miserable. Spent the evening in the bathroom, if you know what I mean. I agree your stomach is trying to pull a fast one on you.
One thing I learned in this journey is that sugar is addictive. Once you start in the morning, you can't stop all day. So if you put sugar in your coffee, you will crave sugar all ..... day...... long. UGH! Also, artificial sweetener (Equal, Sweet N Low, etc.) all produce the SAME EFFECT in your brain as sugar does. Your brain can't tell the difference. So, if you put Equal in your coffee in the morning, you will crave sweets all.....day.......long. And carbs. It's vicious I tell you.....VICIOUS! LOL!!! My understanding is that Stevia doesn't do that to you. I need to try it. But, for you, this may be the key to why you're having those cravings?
Good luck. You can do it!!!!

it's common, it's your head trying to weasel it's way back into controlling your tummy... don't succomb to it...it's trying to brainwash you...lol
I found sipping some hot tea or broth helped get thru those times... I am fighting "head hunger" myself these days too...the worse I have done is raw almonds
Fried food and sweets make me nauseous just to look at, so I guess I'm lucky there... the stuff I eat is on our plan, but I have been indulging in "extras" and I have to stop NOW
PS that's why I LOVE my dvr...I hop right thru the commercials, rarely watch anything "live" anymore

teachingkids2004 reacted to katesuccess in Easter Dinner- help
I am still pre-op, and much restricted, but Easter dinner at my sisters is kind of the same problem for me. I am allowed one lean cuisine meal plus one cup of vegetable, and so I have to make dinner equivalent to that. Of course you are never invited to bring the thing that would be most helpful, right?! I think in addition to the flowers you could still bring a small veggie plate or small item to share that you know is safe for you to eat, and just say it was a recipe you wanted to try, or something that sounded good to you-- even a little white lie that you "had an upset stomach and are trying to baby it" doesn't sound like it would be a bad idea to quash the drama of people commenting or noticing your food intake if you do not want to tell them all.
My gathering will be family and some extended family, and only about half of them know about the upcoming surgery. There is one family member who is bigger than I am, and another about my size, and we have all endured some difficult comments, so I do not want my surgery to become a topic of discussion that will make anybody else feel bad, or make my weight feel like the center of discussion--this one is my business, and up to me who and how much I tell! That said, it is also up to me to eat what is appropriate for me to eat, and so if that means I have to bring something other than what I was asked to bring, I sure will! Good luck at yours!!

teachingkids2004 got a reaction from Pretty_In_Purple in Newly Sleeved, Too Much Liquid?
First post here! I got sleeved 4/7also and I feel like I'm getting so much liquid. I can feel it as it gurgles through my belly and intestines and comes out again. . I feel the same way you do. I'm not allowed to go to stage two diet (protein shakes) until I see the doc again. It stinks. So much liquid but I always want more and more. I guess my point is that you're not alone! We are same day surgery sisters. Colleen
