  1. Hi all ...well, I made it to Hawaii and home without incident. I didn't even need a seat belt extender on the first leg of my flight but did use it on the other three flights as I needed about another inch. I even used the bathroom on the plane! All that worrying for nothing. I am so glad to see goals of 10 lbs by Thanksgiving. That doesn't seem so far fetched. I know that I was told a 1-2 lb loss per week was what I should expect but then you read some of these huge losses and wonder what you are doing wrong. This just makes me feel like I'm not doing so bad and it sure is better than gaining a pound a week! Good luck to all on your mini goals and big ones too!
  2. Hi all... 1week to go and I'm off to Hawaii. I did buy a seat belt extender on ebay for $20, I figured it would be worth the peace of mind. Insubordination, congrats on being able to click that seat belt. Soon you'll even have room to spare. I've been reading a lot on pre op diets and for those of you who are having trouble with the liquid stage I found that High Protein Boost got me through with no problem. I'm still kind of addicted to it and I am 7 weeks post op. I actually have one for breakfast while I'm getting ready for work and it gets me through to lunch time for only 240 calories. I'm supposed to be back on regular food and I am scared to start eating again. I had my first fill last week, 4cc in my VG band and my doctor told me that I should be eating 3 meals per day totaling 1200 calories. I don't really have much of an appetite and small portions do satisfy me but I have not really ever felt "restricted" and am afraid that I'll binge if I eat something too good. The only time I have felt any discomfort was with a bite of a dinner roll that was a bit too dry and not chewed enough, my bad! My question is, what do you all eat? Do you get 1200 cal/day? I average app 850 cal now and have lost an avg of 3lbs/week. I think I would have to eat higher calorie foods because I don't think that I can up my quantity. Any advice?:help: Thanks and good luck to you all.
  3. This is a great site. Thank you all for your advice and support. Big Wave Dave, I will be visiting a clinic in Waikiki. Insubordination, Yes, I did mean 325 not 225. Wishful thinking Well, I visited the nurse and I'm down another 3 lbs. That makes a total of 16! I was a little dissappointed as my 3 lb loss was over a period of 3 wks but I'll take it. The nurse told me to try to eat 1200 calories a day over 3 meals. I just got off pureed foods and am starting soft. I've been averaging about 850 calories a day to this point. I need to call and ask her how to get 1200 over 3 meals by only eating app 1 cup of food at each meal. Maybe it will be easier on this next phase. Also, I found out that my scale is about 9 lbs light. I knew it was off so I wasn't too suprised. I'm a little nervous about eating foods that taste good but I will be getting a fill this month (my first), so that should keep me in check. I hope you are all doing well. Just remember we're going to do this...and we'll look mahvelous.
  4. Hi all, I posted this message on another thread a few days ago but after going over past postings, I see this is the place for me! Panic Time I'm new to this site and like all of you, I have some embarrassing stories but right now I am in a panic. I have had multiple opportunities to travel for work and I have always passed them to a coworker for fear of not being able to fit into a plane seat. Well now I am supposed to fly to Hawaii and I am the passenger who is quite overweight (size 26/28). I don't want to say no but am so worried that I'll be too big. I'm trying to check into seat size, possible upgrades, etc. , but since the company is paying for everything I'm not in on the arrangements. Since the flight is 10+ hours, I'm also concerned about the size of the bathroom as I can't hold it that long. I have been losing sleep over this and am tempted to say I can't go...but it's Hawaii for free!! I was banded on Aug 6, 2007 and I was hoping that I would lose before something like this came up again. Didn't expect something so soon! Does anyone have any flying hints or advice? Be brutal as I would rather avoid an embarrassing situation than walk right into one! I just hate living my life trying to keep one step ahead of any possible problems that my weight will pose. That's why I finally decided to get this surgery and I know it will be worth it. Best of luck to you all. By the way, I have 45 days...Aloha I've seen a couple of posts that address this problem and I guess I'm looking for a little encouragement. I'm not sure how much I have lost to date, but I was banded Aug 6, 2007 @ 346 lbs. ( I'm 5'8" ) Weighed in at 337 one week post op. Not sure what I weigh now because my scale couldn't read my pre or post op weights so I don't know how accurate it is (it's been reading about 225 but I'm not going to trust it yet). I am going to see the nurse tomorrow for my first monthly follow up, keeping my fingers crossed. I'll let you know how it goes.

The last time I flew, I was 150 lbs but my traveling companion was quite overweight and I spent the whole trip leaning into the aisle to make room for her, which I didn't mind.
