EmilyMikulec got a reaction from TheProfessor in Why I am in love with my Lap-Band
Hey there. Well this is why I love my band!!! My heaviest was 275+ after several years of being miserable and trying every fab diet I decided I needed to do the band. It took a year and a half for my insurance to finally approve my procedure. I was banded in March 2014. I struggled with it at first trying to get to my heavenly green zone and it also took my brain a while to understand that I don't have to eat everything is sight. It was a very slow weight loss the first year I think I only lost like 40 pounds. Then after my last fill which was in March of 2015 I was losing a lot of weight and I was doing my part to contribute to the weight loss. Also what really really helped me was talking to people like me that had the lap band because no matter how much support you have people will not understand unless they've gone through it. Little by little I continued to lose weight and when I gained a little I didn't get super upset I would just start again the next day. Oh and I weigh myself every Wednesday so I can take accountability for celebratory times when I lose and also for when I gain. If I gained I just really really watch what I eat the next week. You can't bully yourself into losing weight. Just realize what you did wrong and do it better next week. After my long struggle i weighed in this Wednesday at 164. I can't believe it. That's a weight loss of 111 pounds. It was the strongest, bravest and smartest thing I've ever done! My quality of life is so much better and I am so happy!!! Best thing I've ever done!!!

EmilyMikulec reacted to PrettyThick1 in Did the band make you re-evaluate your life not only with weight loss but everything? What have you done about it?
This journey is as much psychological as it is physical. To have moments of epiphany and actually have the motivation to pursue greater is an NSV. You've conquered a major hurdle in your life and have overcome something that has plagued you for sometime. When these things occur, we realize we have regained lost power and belief in ourselves to do "the impossible". Congrats to you at this new moment of discovery, may there be many more moments of positive realization for you in the near future.

Since starting with this process I've realized that there are some things I need and want to change about myself. My list of things are not only physical but emotionally too.
Physical- I need to start working out and working on my problem areas. I need to have my varicose veins looked at on my legs cause they are getting pretty bad. Also be better organized to improve my daily routine.
Emotional- Be stronger! Learn to say NO and not feel guilty about it afterwards. Learn that other people's problems are their own not mine to fix!
Where there or is there any on your list of things to improve and what is it? Did the band make you re-evaluate your life not only with weight loss but everything?

Thanks everyone! I made it the whole day without eating a sandwich. I was real good and stuck to my liquid diet averaging 350 calories all day. It's so nice to hear all your stories I'm so glad I found this website. Whenever I feel like I might crack I read some of your post and my hunger/ cravings pass. Thank you for taking the time to reply it means a lot.

My husband was about 45 lbs overweight. Wore most of it around his belly. He's a solid 32 pants now. Lost 35 so far and is working on the last 5. His biggest motivation is daughter is getting married in June and he will walk her down the isle. His only suit was way to tight and I told Hume he would walk buff before we were spending money on a suit to hang in the closet. He tried the suit on and viola! He said the other 5 lbs will make it hang better and I agree. He brags that with my surgery we got a twofer. Now I just wish I could show him what sliming feels like:)

EmilyMikulec reacted to sleepingarby in Scheduled 2/27. Need help!
Once I was resolved, I made a post on FB of all places. I knew it would draw negativity. I knew what I had decided and why was for my benefit so I said it and braced for impact. Oddly only a couple people said anything that MIGHT be considered negative. Most people just asked questions. Now nearly 4 weeks out 3 friend have approached and asked more detail questions on what it takes to get the procedure. Not what I was expecting at all! My perspective, stand tall, be proud about your choice and people will see only your strength and those that don't can stick it in the suck it bucket! You are a warrior princess. Don't forget it girl.
