Here is my before shot and after shot. My one year mark is this Friday, March 7th. I have lost over 100 pounds. I was a size 22, now I'm down to a size 2,3. I feel great. I work out almost every day and I thank God every day for this surgery.

BisaW0902 got a reaction from prettyricki in Got my date!
I have been on this journey since September 2017. I was completing all my classes and visits, but got off track, I think it was self-sabotage from fear, with my weight. My starting weight was 296 and I was down to 284 when I met my surgeon and he set a goal weight of 278.
For Kaiser in Northern California you just have to reach the goal weight, psych eval, and attend the classes they have. You can go as fast as you want as long as you make weight. I finally hit 277 and got my psych appointment but weighed in 278.8 the day of and had to wait until I got under 278 to move forward. At that point I changed it up and pushed through and got to 274 and was able to schedule my blood work. Today I did my one on one with the RN and my weight was 271.4! I met with her with my Vitamins and food journal and she gave me a surgery date of 4/18/18!!!!! I had to have another appointment with the surgeon and she “forced” me in right after our appointment.
I could have gone to surgery sooner but I have to go to a pre-op class that’s only on Wednesday’s so I have to wait until 4/11/18 for that.
I’m super excited! Anybody else excited for April surgery dates?

Today is my 3 month surgiversary. I'm down 53lbs since surgery and 141lbs total since I started the 6 month pre-op program last May.
40lbs to go to hit my goal.

BisaW0902 reacted to yosoyelmaspesao in My gastric sleeve journey
They call me "Biggie" and know me as "yosoyelmaspesao". My weight loss journey started on January 12, 2017. I had to wait 6 months to get my surgery. And in that time I had doubt, fear, worry, that I wouldn't go through with the surgery. But finally, my surgery date came. I was scheduled for July 3, 2017. My surgery came and went because my surgery was canceled. Then more doubt and fear came. And once again I was scheduled for surgery for August 17, 2017 and then rescheduled again for August 21, 2017. But, my surgery was finally done. I was sleeved. At first everything was great. Then slowly the complications started to creep up. First I couldn't hold anything down, then a horrible pain on my side. We come to find out my gallbladder isn't functioning. So, back to the operating room. Mind you I'm a person that had never had surgery prior to the sleeve. But, it was removed and things got better. Right now I'm almost 8 months into my surgery. Do I regret it? Nope. Would I do it again, yes. Even with all the complications, I've dealt with.
This surgery, this tool has given me a second chance at living. It's giving me an opportunity to accomplish goals, to reach milestones. I'm going to only keep moving forward.
    Here I my stats:
My Hw was 582LBS, my Sw was 540LBS, and my current weight is 445LBS.

BisaW0902 reacted to Orchids&Dragons in Tome off work - how much??
I work in an office. My doctor wouldn't clear me to return to work until after my 1 week follow-up. So, I stayed home one week, then worked one week of 1/2 days, then back to work full time. I admire the work ethic of other posters, but I needed more healing time! And, personally, I did find that sitting up in a chair was quite uncomfortable for the first week. I spent most of my time in a recliner.

Its not hunger it’s acid reflux. Make sure you’re on a proton pump inhibitor. If you’re on one you may need to up the dose.

Really common to have acid during the healing phase and it mimics a gnawing hunger. That timing and reaction are pretty classic for acid.

BisaW0902 reacted to WildcatGirl71 in Grocery store blues....
Today was my first trip to the grocery at 10 days post op. It was much harder than I anticipated. My husband went with me and as he was casually throwing his usual junk food in the cart, I felt a huge wave of sadness just looking at all the things that I would no longer get to enjoy.
I had a committed relationship with each one of those tasty morsels. I had mentally broken up with this food about 5 months ago via the usual food funerals but seeing it all piled up in the cart, it was like ripping a huge bandaid off and boy oh boy, it was painful. The reality of the break up hit hard.
I felt myself tearing up in the frozen food aisle, surprising to me since I’m not overly emotional. I dropped behind my husband, as he pushed the cart along, and tried to regain my composure.
Once we turned the corner to the next aisle, I pulled it together and remembered that this phase is temporary. I just have to let myself heal. Two words came to mind.... SUGAR FREE!! I can have treats similar in about 4 weeks except I now have to be smart and choose the better options. They are out there. I just have to take the time to find them for me. It was like a giant weight lifted off my shoulders.
I was so busy feeling sorry for myself that I forgot - this is temporary and it too shall pass.

Lots of people do. You are not alone.
    Be patient.
    Be consistent.
    And then, be patient again.
    LOL...you'll get there.

BisaW0902 reacted to sideeye in What's wrong with a straw?
liquid isn’t at the top of the straw and you have to suction it up, bringing those four inches of air in too. They tend to mix into something kind of bubbly at the top of your mouth which is hard to isolate and breathe out before swallowing, so you end up swallowing a lot of air. Then your stomach gets all bubbly.
I’m writing this as I drink through a straw, which I absent-mindedly stuck in the iced tea I just bought. First time since surgery and I probably won’t make it a habit, I can feel the difference in my stomach. Feel a little seasick.

BisaW0902 reacted to Introversion in All of 3 pounds in one week. 3 weeks out. Pissed.
I'm three years out...I lost 15 pounds the first month and 12.5 pounds the second month.
Thereafter, all of my losses were single-digit (1 to 7 pounds monthly). I was a slower loser and it took me nearly 18 months to lose 100 pounds.
The speed and rate of your weight loss doesn't matter nearly as much as your ability to keep it off for life. I'm dancing on a cloud because this is the first time in my live I've been able to maintain any type of weight loss.
Weight loss doesn't matter as much as weight maintenance. Society focuses too much on shedding pounds as quickly as possible when 95+ percent end up regaining. Weight maintenance is the key.
    Good luck to you.

    Alternate hours.
on even hours, pour 4 little one ounce cups of Water. Drink one every 15 minutes. (or more if you can handle it)
on odd hours, pour 4 little one ounce cups of Protein Drink. Drink one every 15 minutes.
    Sip, sip, sip.
If you sleep 8 hours a day, and follow this schedule the other 16 hours each day....you will get in 32 ounces of Protein drink and 32+ ounces of water a day. 64 Fluid ounces per day total.
If you do this...you will feel much better.

If for some reason you have an issue, most insurance companies will also accept a signed form from either your surgeon or PCP in lieu of a class. Depending on the schedule this may at least cut the number of classes you need to do if you are forced to.
