About Me

  • Gender
    Male
  1. I am a vegetarian, and therefore I don't know of too many dense protein solids. I can't eat too much of tofu.
  2. For Breakfast a Protein shake, for lunch usually some vegetable's or tofu. For dinner, some lentils, and quinoa, and vegetable. I usually snack on cheese, and fruits, like tangerines, watermelon's etc., nuts (Cashew's, peanuts) Once in a while, if we are out I will eat like the cheese off a slice of pizza (avoiding the crust).
  3. I am 12 weeks out after my sleeve surgery: My weight before preopdiet : 281 Day of surgery weight was:260 Current weight: 210 My issues is that I'm able to get food down! I goto support groups and hear people saying that they can't eat, and I'm totally the opposite, and feel like i can eat too much. I can get in anywhere form 1200-1400 calories a day. I do exercise 4-5 day's a week, with 40 minutes of cardio and some strength training. Everybody is saying i'm losing weight, but i'm just too concerned that I have stretched my sleeve, and I'm eating too much. Anyone else out there with the same problem?
  4. I had the sleeve done on March 3rd, and I have been going to the gym, doing the elliptical for 60 minutes, and some weight training (nothing spectacular). I heard some people say that 60 minutes of elliptical is too much, and I can burn muscle by doing that much cardio, is that true?

    I am scared

I was also, then I thought about my family, and my 2 precious boy's. I did this for them. I did it so I can live a healthy life, and see my family grow. I'm 8 weeks out, still a newbie, but so far I am happy I made the decision. I looked at it this way if I didn't do it now, I have 2 pages worth of medical condition's that are waiting to enter my life. Life will be more frightening if you didn't have surgery!
  6. I had the sleeve, and recommend the sleeve. You are also not super morbidly obese, so I would think that the sleeve is a better option. It's restrictive enough, and you don't get the dumping syndrome.
  7. I have a question for all the veteran's. I'm 8 weeks post op, and I can say that I can get around 1200-1400 calories in. I use myfitnesspal app, to track my food, but it add's additional calories of whatever i have burned off at the gym, so I'm taking an additional 500-600. Any help would be appreciated!

    Hard time

no it was normal, just take it in slowly, take a baby spoon, and take time to swallow.
  9. Also do you guys count the weight lost starting from your preop diet, or the weight loss starting from your surgery day?
  10. I'm 8 weeks out, and I feel like i'm I'm eating too much watermelon? Is that a problem. It goes down very easily, and I enjoy it very much. I eat it several times a day. I remember in the past when I was trying south beach diet, they said it was bad because of the carbs. Any advice would be appreciated!.

    18 months Post Op

You look great. I just had surgery on 3/3/14. I have also been doing cardio, and recently start mild weight lifting. Can you give me some details, of your initial workouts, amount of time you did cardio etc. Also how much weight did you lose initially. Your help is appreciated!
  12. did you gain any weight by pigging out? or have you maintained the weight loss. I recommend calm down, and follow the strict plan going forward. I like GNC's Lean 25 swiss chocolate shakes, they were delicious!
  13. My surgeon said treadmill, and elliptical were fine for me, but no weight lifting.
  14. I had surgery on 3/4, I'm 2 weeks out now. I weigh myself only on Mondays. Last Monday at 1 week a post op I was 244lbs, and Today at week 2 after surgery again 244lbs the same no change. In addition since last monday, I have been going to the gym everyday burning 450-500 calories on treadmil. I've been on liquid diet, drinking non fat greek yogurt drinks (approx 80gram Protein and 220 calories daily). Need some advice before I go crazy.
  15. Hi everyone, I had my surgery on 3/3, and the first few days were quite rough for me, but every day has been much better. Isopure tasted awful for me the first day, and I mixed some gatorade g2, and it totally fixed the tast. As of Monday I started full liquids. I am a vegetarian, so I don't eat chick broth. What I have been taking is non-fat greek yogurt, and milk add some salt, and make a smoothie (similar to indian drink called lassi), I have enjoyed these preoperatively, and still enjoy them now. I also started making tomato Soup, and lentil soup. I am able to tolerate a decent amount of these item, and enjoy them so much I actually want more. I keep on hearing that you get full very fast, and you lose appetite. I'm not very full fast, and I want more. I also have to work on taking these fluids at a much slower pace. I"m afraid that fact i'm enjoying these fluids along with taking down the fluids pretty fast, I may be stretching my pouch? How much fluid's do you take in how much time?
