I'm really sorry to read such a racist statement. As a matter of fact, my surgeons both have over 15 years of experience, one is a professor of Laparoscopic surgery, has taught at Harvard, and has proctored many US surgeons in bariatric surgery methods. They are both members of the American College of Surgeons and the facility is certified as an International Center of Excellence by the Surgical Review Corporation. They have done hundreds of more VSG surgeries than any of the bariatric surgeons within 200 miles of my home. His complication rate for VSG is 1/100 of the published average.
The surgical center, medical care, and skills and hospitality of the staff was impeccable. The pre and post op support and instructions have been more than adequate for my success. I had no postop pain, was up and shopping the day after surgery, back to work in a week, and have had no surgical complications whatsoever. My PCP is thrilled with my results and my OB/Gyn has recommended my surgeon to several of her other patients.
So no, I have no problems with Mexican health care. (Thanks to Obamacare, I'm sure I'll be going back there again someday.) Good luck with getting your surgery and I hope you have as great of an experience as I have had.

I am new here I am applying to get the surgery. Hopefully I get accepted. I am very scared and nervous. Any one who can help me walk through this journey would be awesome.
So I am 43 and I weight 210lbs. I know that's not too much but I'm only 5'3" so that makes me highly overweight, my BMI is 37.9 and I have chronic back pain, borderline diabetes, bad sleep apnea, GERD, and Heart Murmur.
    I am just extremely nervous!

msfitn2014 you're doing better than me with the Protein. I'm only getting 30 grams a day so far. I'm going to try and up it to 60 grams tomorrow. I will have a Protein shake for Breakfast (30g) and one for dinner (another 30g).

Im new to this group. My mother told me to try it after hearing great things about it from a coworker. I'm having surgery in 2 days! I started my pre-op liquid diet this morning. I'm getting a little more nervous as the surgery approaches, mostly because I've never had a major surgery before. I'm sure everything will be fine though. I've done all the research and I know how a lot of people have felt after surgery, but I'm sure I will be in for a rude awakening afterward. Lol. But anyways, I just thought I would introduce myself and I can't wait for my journey to a healthier me to begin!!

I completely understand. I barely mentioned the idea to my sister and sister in law last year and GOOD LORD, you would have thought I told them I was cutting both my legs off! "You do not need that surgery" "you are not that fat" "you doctor is a quack" on and on......so I have not said another word to any family members since then. I've been quietly attending my weekly nutrition classes, quietly having all my pre surgery testing done....and when I have my surgery I'm telling them that I have to travel for about a week for work. And leave it at that. The crazy part is almost my entire family have serious health issues, including diabetes (which is my main reasoning for the surgery), but they are not educated at all about surgery or getting healthy in general and it was not worth it to me to argue with them:) Good Luck!

I too am on and off the roller coaster of doubt...it is very, very real. I say to myself maybe I can do this on my own...but yes, after 15 years of trying on my own, I need help. I have an awesome surgeon who doubles as a comedian and it helps. His staff is there for nee also...I'm thinking I may just need to utilize their offer to help during those difficult times by being there to reassure us. Right n now I feel a little anxious as I have to prepare for my sleep test...it is not easy. Then some days I'm so siked and excited I can hardly contain myself. Blogging truly helps me keep my emotions in check and continue at an even, stay pace on this journey. Here is to hoping we ALL have a safe and blessed journey with fantastic end results! We can do this!

    Hello Everyone,
I am in my 3-month pre-op phase (as required by my insurance). I have not received an exact surgery date yet, we are guessing in July (*or August, depending on how long it takes for the insurance approval process).
I can relate to what has been shared. I am very excited and looking forward to my surgery date, but I am also fighting the 'nagging negative thoughts of what ifs..." I do think that is normal, but also frustrating.
I am thankful I saw this post, (please don't misunderstand me, I am not happy about others going through struggles or sadness etc.) It truly shows how we are not the only ones going through these thoughts etc. (though sometimes we feel that way)
Though I am not as close to my surgery date (yet) I have been battling many thoughts and fears.,,,
lately it has been the "what if this does not work" *as crazy as it sounds, that truly has been in my mind.
It is good to try to remember that, as with many things, this is a process and it is going to take effort to combat the negatives that come to mind (all the 'what ifs, as well as trying to keep from thinking of "the fears of complications or failure")
It is also good to remember and know that we have the support of others who have been or are going through this same process. This is truly helpful the community, support and encouragement.
II am still new here, but please feel free to call on me as a "buddy' (so to speak) on the same journey.
Hope I haven't rambled too much.... lol...
    Sincerely, Angi
