  1. I feel like I am walking like Frankenstein. I cant walk erect because the pain in my stomach incisions plus the pain in my shoulder. I got banded on Tuesday and havent left the house yet but made plans for sunday and all next week and am afraid people wont think I am normal if I cant walk normally.
  2. I am still having left shoulder pain too. Its hard to walk upright. My stomach is getting better, but the gas in my shoulder is so hard.
  3. I took a shower today and it was awesome! It felt so great to wash my hair. I put saran wrap over my stomach but I realized they put some kind of waterproof tape over the incisions already so I was just being extra cautious. Showering is so good!!
  4. I think it varies by doctor. My doctor put me on Optifast for a week before but I had a hard time sticking to it. Its really hard knowing you will have your stomach banded and not wanting to get some last minute eating in!
  5. I need to shower today. I am feeling gross. I had my surgery Tuesday and it is Friday and I need to bathe! I am going to plastic wrap and use my hand held shower (I use it anyway!) and wash my hair. I can't wait to feel the water; it is going to feel so good.
  6. Hi Jim, I just had my surgery this past Tuesday. That day I was feeling great. I barely felt anything. Then I realized it was because of the shot in the stomach. The next day I woke up and felt like I had been hit in the stomach! My stomach hurts when I move. I have been drinking the painkiller stuff and it seems to be better. I still hurt tho and it's Friday. I am hoping by Sunday I will be my old self again. Its hard to move or do anything with my stomach (walk, lift my dogs) because of the pain. I guess today it feels better tho. I haven't had any painkiller because I finished it already. I am just trying not to over exert myself. I have been having a lot of gas pains in my shoulder. I think I lost one pound today, which is exciting since I think I gained at least 5 pounds during the surgery. But I think its just because I am all swolen from surgery and it will go down. Hopefully I will be like you and be better by Sunday! I have put off all plans for this week till then. 7. I had it tuesday and my stomach still hurts. Its very hard to move around.
  8. I am self pay also and totally agree. If it cost a million dollars it would be worth it if it is a permanent solution to keeping the weight off. Think of how much money we waste on diet plans. I have spent thousands of dollars on diets from the age of 8 till 30 so this is not even like a lot of money to spend compared to all of the money I spent on diets my whole life.
  9. I agree that day 1 was easy. I am on day 2 and on day 1 i barely had any pain because of the shot they gave me in the stomach. Its day 2 and I feel like i got hit with a truck in my stomach. Its hard to move around and get up and walk without pain. Bending and lifting is impossible. Thank god I have the pain meds. I wonder when the pain will go away? :notagree
  10. Dont beat yourself up for what you did in the past. Throw out any bad food in your house and only buy food that is on your diet. If you only have that food around you (sugar free pudding, coolaid, yogurt) then you wont be tempted to go for the fried rice. You cant control the past. Forgive yourself and move on. Try to get the temptation out of the house by only having the food you are supposed to eat around. When you go out, plan about what you can buy on the road that will be healthy. Go to Starbucks and get a caffeine free latte or herbal tea. Get chicken soup if you go out and tell them you just want the broth. You can do this! You are a strong person and have the power to do well on this. It will be ok.
