lilbitahoney got a reaction from CrazyJaney in 7 weeks post op - success and struggles
Hi all! I am 6 weeks out and down 39 lbs. i haven't had any real bread, Pasta or rice, but I was craving something with a little more substance so I bought Wasa light. It's a multigrain crackerbread. One cracker, which is a nice size, is about 22 calories. I add a laughing cow wedge and a slice of boar's head turkey and I am full for less than 100 calories...delicious. Sometimes I replace the turkey which perdue chicken cuts diced really small and add avocado. Very satisfying!

I got sleeved 3 days ago. I had all the panic attacks and a good one about an hour before surgery. I thought about canceling too because this was my third scheduled date but I thought of the year long process I went through and held on to my faith in God and my faith in my surgeon. I thought I would feel worse post op but I am great. Incisions don't hurt and my stomach accepted the Water and Protein Shakes today. It does get better every day, and let me add I spent 1 night in the hospital. Good luck all!! You got this!!

I agree, sounds like you need a PPI like prilosec, etc. Check with your doc.
I will say that eating brought no pleasure the first 5 months or so. Great time to get a big chunk of weight off. I never pushed myself to move the next stage, I just progressed as it felt comfortable.

For the heartburn, try a preventive medication like Pepcid or Prilosec if your physician says it's ok. Those work a LOT better than just putting out the fire with Tums.

I loved me whole heartedly all 287 of me. I'm a beautiful woman with a heart of gold. I do all I can to help others and my family. I have 5 beautiful kids 2 are 17, 1 is 10 and our twins are 6. Our oldest is possibly on his way to one of our countries greatest schools Princeton, Yale or Harvard and the rest are all in gifted and talented classes following their big brother!
My husband never once has said anything negative about my weight and has never loved me any less in our 22 yrs together. As a matter of fact he is the cook in the house and always made my plates for me (I'm in retail management and out of the house often). He'd always stacked it up like I was a line backer prepping for a game! (I love football) Lol secretly I think he likes me bigger.
So if my life is so great with no complainants why have the surgery? If I love me as is why change the game now?
My heart my heart my heart
I get heart palpitations and I have been on medications for years and even had heart surgery 5 yrs ago... Nothing has helped and the palpitations were getting worse putting me at risk for a stroke... So it was lose weight or another heart surgery with a pace maker...at 35!?!
Nope nope nope I'll try this weightloss thing again THANK YOU, I had the band in 4 yrs ago for the same reasons with nothing but complications.
So that's my story how about you?

i eat dark chocolate!! every day!!
i ate a clean whole foods diet before my surgery. the major changes i made were portion size, (of course) no Pasta (i cant tolerate it), not more than 2 tbsp rice, way less sweets, fruit and raw veggies (cant tolerate). less coffee and wayyyyyy more tea. am i perfect? nope! did i ever want to be? nope. i went out for ice cream the other day with my family. i ate 1/2 of a kiddie cup. it was exactly want i wanted to be able to eat. so, maybe i am perfect. the next day we had a birthday celebration and had BBQ. i did 2 pork ribs, a few bites of mac and cheese and corn bread. yum. again, perfect, for me.
do i always get in all my Protein? nope. all my Water? nope. do i count coffee as a Fluid? yup.
for the people who are able to do it better, more power to them! i Celebrate their control and good choices. i am happy, for the most part, with my choices too. i didnt go through surgery to use my stomach as a garbage can. nope. it was a life altering experience and i have gratitude every day for my second chance in life and i do not plan to waste that by making crappy choices. nope, i am not perfect, but i am making a hell of an effort!

lilbitahoney got a reaction from KeeWee in Thinking of Quitting- I'm overwhelmed
I believe the doctors know that in the two week diet we will not be perfect. If we were any good good at following diets, we wouldn't be here. I think the reason they do this is to put us in a certain mind set. I had my surgery 4/2, BUT I had my first date of 2/5 rescheduled pending a sleep test. Then I had surgery scheduled for March 19. I was sent home from the OR because I was getting over a cold. At this point I started to think that the powers that be were trying to tell me something. They rescheduled me for 4/2 and I was thinking I might die, but I continued praying and asking God to please take care of me and guide the surgeons. I was so frustrated from the being on and off the preop diet that the last time around I just ate salads and my Protein shakes with some light snacking in the evening. I did follow the 48 hour liquid diet before surgery because the stomach does need to be empty for surgery.
Bottom line is all went better than I dreamed of. I had the expected pain but it was totally tolerable. The incisions didn't hurt at all. I just had some moderate right side pain which got better every day, and I have been taken off all blood pressure meds since discharged from the hospital!! I am 11 days post op and 14 lbs down feeling like myself again. The first 7 days post op are mentally difficult because you still think of food A LOT but trust me, no matter how much you want it, reality kicks in, you can't have it. I was so hungry I had a couple of baby spoons of split pea Soup which I regretted. I was sick for 24 hours.
Don't think to hard. God is on your side and the doctors know why you are there. Just make sure you absolutely follow the 48 hour liquid diet before surgery and do the best you can with the 2 week diet. You will be just great!! Believe it in your heart. Ask. Believe. Receive.

I am also 4 days post op. I do think about food, but the thought that my stomach is healing takes over. When those thoughts come to my mind I just think of why I did this. I am just counting my days until 4/17 when I get moved to Stage 2. Try to refocus when food comes to mind. I like to think of my clothes getting big on me. That always puts a smile on my face, especially that we did this 3 months before summer.

Feeling much better today. Was able to do the 3 Protein Shakes, a Jello and some chicken broth without the painful stomach pangs. Haven't used any pain meds either all day. This makes me really happy. Once the incisions heal I will be able to move more. So far so good!!
