    Numbness?

Hi fellow sleevers! I am 2 mos. post op and I am wondering if any of you guys are experiencing a sense of numbness on your belly. I didn't notice it before but now it feels weird. If I touch myself I can feel it but it just feels weird on the surface. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Numbness?

Thanks for your responses. I feel great but this is my first major surgery. It seems everyone I've asked who has had surgery of any kind tell me the same thing. I see my surgeon on the 24th. Let's see what she says.

7 weeks post op - success and struggles

Hi all! I am 6 weeks out and down 39 lbs. i haven't had any real bread, pasta or rice, but I was craving something with a little more substance so I bought Wasa light. It's a multigrain crackerbread. One cracker, which is a nice size, is about 22 calories. I add a laughing cow wedge and a slice of boar's head turkey and I am full for less than 100 calories...delicious. Sometimes I replace the turkey which perdue chicken cuts diced really small and add avocado. Very satisfying!
  4. I am 3 weeks post op, stage 2. My doctor gave me a sample meal plan which I am having a hard time following. I am always full so introducing "meals", even 2 oz meals, is difficult. I spoke to my surgeon 3 days ago and she said focus on the protein shakes...blahhh!! In order to do that I increased the Skim Milk plus to 8 oz so it is tolerable. Funny part about this is that when I was on Stage 1, I couldn't wait to eat!!! Let's not talk about the ridiculous heartburn. Don't get me wrong, I have ZERO regrets I had the surgery. I just need to find my balance, and I need to find something that really works for this sizzling heartburn. I am TUMmed out!! lol

Someone please answer this question for me...........

I had no help. I have a 19 yr old son who, although compassionate, had to work and was hardly around. You will be fine. Recovery is quick!!

    Thinking of Quitting- I'm overwhelmed

I believe the doctors know that in the two week diet we will not be perfect. If we were any good good at following diets, we wouldn't be here. I think the reason they do this is to put us in a certain mind set. I had my surgery 4/2, BUT I had my first date of 2/5 rescheduled pending a sleep test. Then I had surgery scheduled for March 19. I was sent home from the OR because I was getting over a cold. At this point I started to think that the powers that be were trying to tell me something. They rescheduled me for 4/2 and I was thinking I might die, but I continued praying and asking God to please take care of me and guide the surgeons. I was so frustrated from the being on and off the preop diet that the last time around I just ate salads and my Protein shakes with some light snacking in the evening. I did follow the 48 hour liquid diet before surgery because the stomach does need to be empty for surgery. Bottom line is all went better than I dreamed of. I had the expected pain but it was totally tolerable. The incisions didn't hurt at all. I just had some moderate right side pain which got better every day, and I have been taken off all blood pressure meds since discharged from the hospital!! I am 11 days post op and 14 lbs down feeling like myself again. The first 7 days post op are mentally difficult because you still think of food A LOT but trust me, no matter how much you want it, reality kicks in, you can't have it. I was so hungry I had a couple of baby spoons of split pea Soup which I regretted. I was sick for 24 hours. Don't think to hard. God is on your side and the doctors know why you are there. Just make sure you absolutely follow the 48 hour liquid diet before surgery and do the best you can with the 2 week diet. You will be just great!! Believe it in your heart. Ask. Believe. Receive.

    Omg 4 days post

My original surgery date was 2/5 so I did the preop diet in January. Then I didn't get cleared by the anesthesiologist because he wanted me to do a sleep study to check for sleep apnea, which I have. That "sleep study" took over a month so I stopped the preop diet and continued my food funeral lol. Then I was scheduled for March 19, but I had a cold. Was sent home from the OR. Then they rescheduled me for 4/2. Honestly I was fed up with the back and forth preop diet so I didn't follow it. I ate less and ate healthier but didn't follow it. I was put on Clear Liquids 48 hrs before surgery and that I followed I am now 6 days postop and am finally feeling better, and already down10. I am struggling with my mental demons with food, but am terrified of the dumping syndrome so I won't even think of veering off in any way. I am pretty happy and just keep looking forward to Stage 2. One week down, one week to go to be moved forward. I can do this. WE can do this!!!
  8. I am two days post op. I only spent 1 night at the hospital. I did really well there. Having trouble now with the drinking. I can't tell if I am feeling hunger or gas pain. Every time I drink something I feel a slight pain in my belly and quickly try to belch because I feel nauseous. I hope it gets better

    Omg 4 days post

I am also 4 days post op. I do think about food, but the thought that my stomach is healing takes over. When those thoughts come to my mind I just think of why I did this. I am just counting my days until 4/17 when I get moved to Stage 2. Try to refocus when food comes to mind. I like to think of my clothes getting big on me. That always puts a smile on my face, especially that we did this 3 months before summer.
  10. Feeling much better today. Was able to do the 3 protein shakes, a jello and some chicken broth without the painful stomach pangs. Haven't used any pain meds either all day. This makes me really happy. Once the incisions heal I will be able to move more. So far so good!!

    I wish I hadn't told

It truly bothers me to hear anyone say this is "the easy way out"! No it is not. We put ourselves through nutritionists, cardiologists, psychiatrist, stomach sonograms, etc. Through this process the doctors make sure we are ok to do this. This is far from easy but oh so worth it to be healthy again.

    Any April Sleevers?

I got sleeved 3 days ago. I had all the panic attacks and a good one about an hour before surgery. I thought about canceling too because this was my third scheduled date but I thought of the year long process I went through and held on to my faith in God and my faith in my surgeon. I thought I would feel worse post op but I am great. Incisions don't hurt and my stomach accepted the water and protein shakes today. It does get better every day, and let me add I spent 1 night in the hospital. Good luck all!! You got this!!
  14. I am 2 days post op. I chose to tell my family and 2 more friends who have been discreet about it. People's opinions truly don't matter to me. My choice to be discreet was to avoid negative opinions and negative stories. This whole process took me a year in total and every kind of test under the sun which was nerve racking enough. Didn't need more on my plate. I have always feared doctors, or maybe just what they might find wrong with me so this whole process was based on facing my fears and finishing what I started. My surgery was 4/2 but I had two dates before that, 2/5 was my first scheduled date but was sent for a sleep study to check for sleep apnea. They were right. I ended up with a CPAP machine. Then I was scheduled for 3/19 and was cancelled because I had a cold. I was starting to doubt my decision because of all the roadblocks. My surgeons assistant convinced me not to throw in the towel. I can honestly say I am glad I didn't. I look forward to watching the weight drop and fitting into so many clothes I put away, and buying new ones!!

    2 days Post Op

I am definitely sipping. My mouth is always dry so I am always sipping. My back is killing me too. To be honest, I drink the Tylenol with codeine mostly for my back and neck pain, both are stiff.
