Slipped Band?
Hi: They did a barium swallow and could see that some of my stomach came up over the band. Wouldn't slip back down again, so I had to have it fixed surgically. Sue

- LOOKING FOR BANDERS IN THEIR 50'S!!!
Hi: I'm 51. I've been banded for 3 1/2 years. You'll be so glad that you did this for yourself. I feel 15 years younger and have the energy of someone in their 30's. Best wishes to you. Sue- Slipped Band?
Kat - The doc tried the things that sometimes work to get your stomach to move back into position, that is he unfilled my band, and liquids only for I can't remember how long. That didn't work, so my band was replaced. I had the older small band (4.0 cc's maximum) and his practice stopped using them shortly after I got mine. They seem to cause more trouble than the newer bands. So, that's why they replaced my old band with a new one. If not for the older version, I think that I would have just had a repositioning surgery. Either way, same recovery and result. Take care. Sue- Want Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift....
Nettie: I asked before for a thread on plastic surgeon's, but I guess they didn't want to add one. You can check www.makemeheal.com and see what you can find out there. It's a site for people with plastic surgery. Good luck. I love my flat tummy! Sue- Slipped Band?
Hi; I had a small slip and didn't have any pain or difficulty swallowing. In fact, I don't know when it happened. The way I found out was that I noticed that I was eating more and the scale started creaping up so I went in for a fill. Ended up totally unfilled and two months later got band replaced. Hope all ends up okay for you. I still love my bands - first band and second band. Sue- Im getting too thin!!
Please call your surgeon's office and ask them if they can take out all of your Fluid. Tell them how much you weigh and how tall you are. You're very underweight for your height and you're probably suffering from malnutrition. Please call them today. They can probably put you on a payment plan. If your surgeon won't do it, go to the emergency room. Not sure where you are, but here in the US they have to treat you if you're ill in the emergency room. Tell them that you're dizzy and you think it's because you've lost too much weight with your band. Tell them that it is too tight and that you're unable to keep food down. Whatever works to get you an unfill. Hope you feel better soon. Wish I could give you 20 lbs. of mine. Please give us an update. I'll be worrying about you. Take care. Sue- lap band hell
Hi: Just wanted to let anyone with nausea know that you should ask your doctor for a prescription for anti-nausea suppositories. It's called prochlorperazine - rectal, also known as compazine. When you're throwing up it's hard to keep the medicine down if you swallow it. Suppositories sound gross, but if you're throwing up or having dry heaves for a while because of nausea they're like a blessing. It stopped my nausea within a half hour last time I had to use it. Take care. Sue- Dr. Arthur Glasgow - Dr. Arthur Glasgow is great!
Back when I had my surgery they did surgery together. Adam was the surgeon and Arthur assisted. You will have a great surgeon and the follow up will be the best! Best wishes to you. Sue- having silliva problems...help
I agree with the others, you're way too tight! Sorry to hear that you have to wait until Monday to see your doctor. I'm so fortunate because my doctor will come in or have someone on his staff come in when you have an issue with being too tight and it's the weekend. You'll feel much better once you see the doc. Our bands are very finicky and even just 1 cc can make all the difference in the world sometimes. Make sure you get enough liquid in so that you don't get dehydrated. As others have said, warm liquid sometimes goes down easier. Take care. Sue- I need energy!
Hi: Are you having Protein drinks and liquid Vitamins? The Protein Drinks will help with the energy level. Best wishes to you. Sue- regrets
Hi - No regrets other than not getting it done sooner. First band 7/26/07, slipped in 2010, 2nd band 7/20/10. So, obviously I would do it again. Started at 324 and am around 190 now. Hope to get back to 175 to 180 in 2011, but even if I don't, I still feel so much better than I did at 324. Best wishes to you. Sue- Internal Bleeding
Laura - You shouldn't wait until next week. Please call your primary care doctor today (or your LapBand Doc) and ask them for advice. They may direct you to the emergency room to be checked out. It could be something serious, so please don't delay. After initial healing our band should never cause pain or bleeding. Please let us know how you're doing. Sue- Boobies question
If your experience is anything like mine they get less full because there won't be as much fatty tissue. At my age with more than a hundred pound loss that means that they're not as full on the top half of the breast. This will happen alot of places in your body as you lose the fat content in your tissue. Best wishes to you. Sue- I need HELP!! Gettin banded on the 29th
My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! Best wishes to you. Sue- Severe joint pain
Misty - can't imagine it's your band, but I'm not an MD. Please let us know what your doctor says. Hope you feel better soon. Perhaps it's something you're missing in your diet that's effecting your joints? Take care. Sue- What is your favorite non carbonated beverage?
Gotta love Diet Peach Snapple! Wish it was less expensive, but it's worth the cost.- Had my TT Wednesday
Congratulations! Welcome to the flatlands. Now's the time when it's so important to rest. So, put yourself first and get the rest that you need to enable you to heal properly. Take care and post an update when you have a chance. Sue- HELP!!!! Head cold and TT in 2 days
No suggestions, just wanted to say that I'm very excited for you and know that you'll be so happy with the results! Best wishes to you. Please let us know how you're doing once you're in the flatlands! Sue- TT: Any suggestions to promote successful healing
Hi: My band doctor recommended Vitamin C (I think it was 1,000 milligrams/day). My tummy tuck healed well. Another thing is to try to get extra rest. Best wishes to you. Sue- Grazing
Hi: Just wanted to mention that getting enough sleep is so important when you're trying to lose weight. Not only does it keep you away from the fridge, but it also gives your body time to recover. I had to eat something every four hours or my hunger got out of control and I would try to eat too fast - bad for band. Try having some yogurt, or something low calorie to snack on when you're hungry if it's outside of your meal time. Good luck! I love my band. Sue- Tummy Tuck Results?
Hi: I was 49 years old when I had my tummy tuck. I had lost almost 150 pounds and I had alot of loose skin on my abdomen. Gravity made my loose skin drop low, so when I did have my tummy tuck it didn't make much difference on my waist size, more of a difference on my hips because the fallen excess skin wasn't there anymore. I have a picture on my profile page that shows the difference. Best wishes to you. Sue- slipped band.....and putting off the fix.....
I think that if you have reflux long term it can cause damage to your esophogus. You should speak with your doctor about this so that you can make a fully informed decision. Best wishes to you. Sue- Surgery this morning
Good luck. My only regret is that I didn't get it done sooner!- Supply check list for TT?
Hi: Stock up on your groceries, medications, and entertainment (books & movies). You may want to get pajamas and/or sweat pants that have pockets because that's a convenient way to carry your drains around. Also, shirts that button up, not pull over. It may be hard to lift your arms if you have your stomach muscles tightened. If you don't already have a sheet protector on your bed, you may want to get one of those because my drain or incisions leaked at night on my new mattress. Also, some extra vitamin-c helps with healing (my doctor recommended it) and I think I healed well. You may want to get an extra binder too. You'll want one with "stays" or "bones" in it. I think I got mine on JC Penney website. Pain medication can make you kind of loopy so you may want to set up a chart so that you always know when the last dosage was and stay on top of the pain by keeping up with the medication. It seems that it's easier to prevent the pain coming on than it is to diminish the pain once it's bad. Best wishes to you. Let us know how it goes. Sue - LOOKING FOR BANDERS IN THEIR 50'S!!!
