Internal Bleeding

Ok, here goes. I had my lapband done on Aug. 24. Everything has gone along very well. I'm not quite at my sweet spot, but close after 3 fills.

Here's my porblem. I think I'm bleeding internally!! Thought I had diarrhea, but I've also been passing blood for the past 3 days. I have no pain, my blood pressure is good and I'm wondering if anybody else had this problem? I see my surgeon next week for another fill and am planning to wait until then to do or say anything about the bleeding.

Has anybody else experienced this? I would appreciate your advice.

Laura

I should add that the bleeding is controlled, in that I'm not having to wear a pad or anything. I only bleed when I use the bathroom.

Laura - You shouldn't wait until next week. Please call your primary care doctor today (or your LapBand Doc) and ask them for advice. They may direct you to the emergency room to be checked out. It could be something serious, so please don't delay. After initial healing our band should never cause pain or bleeding.

Please let us know how you're doing.

Is it bright red blood? It might be an anal fissure or a hemorrhoid. Is it black tarry stools? Then it's bleeding higher up in the body/intestines.

I would not wait. I'd call either your bariatric surgeon or your Primary Care Physician NOW. Bleeding is almost always abnormal and while it's probably not a huge problem, what if it was and you waited too long?

I would say my stool is dark but the blood is a brighter color. I'm thinking I'll call my surgeon since my PC doc is not really "up" on the surgery. Thanks for the advice.
