KayleeC14 got a reaction from inneedofchange in Converting from a band to a Sleeve
    Hi there!
I am a converter from the band to the sleeve, and honestly I will say I love it! I was eighteen when I went with the lap band, and only lost 50 pounds with it. Over the course of the five years I gained the 50 pounds and even more. Before when I chose weight loss surgery they decided to do the band because I was so young, and the sleeve wasn't an option because it wasn't around. Well the band caused more trouble than good, I was left with acid reflux. But in November 2013 I was converted all in one surgery from the band to the sleeve. I jumped through a lot of hoops for it because normally bariatric surgeons do not like doing revision surgeries. My surgeon when she went in there was even surprised I could get food or a fill done because my last surgeon didn't do a good job. I highly recommend the switch you will see a better result overall. I couldn't be happier.

Look, The body is an amazing machine. It will allow us to abuse it and use it and continue to work when it is run down and give us the energy we need to go on when things have tired it out. It has the capability to adjust if you are injured so that no matter what you will still see the horizon...Those are just a few things it does.... i call it the perfect city! One piece goes wrong the rest of the city starts to change to either accommodate it or shut the system down for repairs.
Our bodies will go into rest to protect us from what it considers a possible threat to its well being. It will hold off weight loss if it thinks that it is being harmed in any way. Or it feels it does not have enough to continue to keep the city running smooth. It will hold on to fat if it thinks these things.
I call it going into a rest period. We have put our bodies into so much stress over the years with weight gain, then weight loss, then gain again. It has constantly adjusted to keep us going until it cannot handle the changes anymore and we begin to see unhealthy conditions creep into our city.
You are doing something to fix your body and your body is confused. that is normal. How long has it been since you fed it good quality food like Protein, Water, vegetables and fruits..It is doing the happy dance!
But it still does not trust you so it rests and waits to see if you are going to continue to care for it.....When it feels that you are okay, the weight will start to drop off again......If you look at it this way you will see the body the way I do...A marvelous machine or city that will protect itself from serious harm.....
You will drop weight again..Your body just needs to catch up...
This is how an Osteopath explained the body to me and I loved the examples!!! Made me appreciate the human body more!

It is against HIPPA privacy laws for them to look at or request any information about you. You can also request that No information is to be given to anyone outside of your doctor, nurses and a specific family member. Hope this helps.

KayleeC14 got a reaction from abarta83 in people see an amazing transformation..but not me
I think we all go through this when we start loosing a significant amount of weight. I personally feel the same, just can't eat as much and kicked old unhealthy habits to the curve. It took me a while to really stare at myself in the mirror and see a change. I am down 85 pounds and I still see myself as I did before I lost the weight. We all have that "AHHA" moments and they all come at different stages and multiple times. I have had TONS of people who I talk to on a regular basis and people I don't ask me questions about how I am loosing the weight and so on. I write a blog, I tell them to read my blog and come back with questions. There are only certain questions that get to me, and usually I blow a head gasket when they are asked. My blog is my therapist now days instead of people.

Well the smartass in me would have come up with something epic like a sex change or something like that. But you don't have to explain anything to them unless YOU want too. I would say f*ck it and forget they exist. If they HAVE to ask you why you mystically vanished tell them you needed a little breather.

And some people have the "nerve" to think weight loss surgery is an easy way out. They are totally uninformed... this is my "second" time around ( had a revision) and this is far from EASY. Not only do you have to deal with physically healing but emotionally and mentally you have to recondition your entire life and way of thinking ( well at least I did). When you think about all of the "social" interactions that we deal with daily...most of them are centered around food. I've gone through so many moments of "mourning" it is ridiculous. I've felt almost every emotion known to man... guilt, remorse, elation, confusion, anger. Our bodies go through a tremendous amount of stress from the surgery. I had a SEVERE anxiety attack my second day in the hospital after getting my sleeve. My blood pressure was like 200 over 120. My heart was racing and my heart was beating well over 100 beats per minute. The nurses started freaking out and even brought a crash cart into my room thinking I was going to have a cardiac arrest. I kept calm... prayed and allowed them to administer meds to get everything under control and within minutes my blood pressure came down and my heart rate slowed.
The doctor said my body was stressed. I went from eating around 2,500 calories a day to absolutely nothing not mention I had just had major surgery that took 5 hours....it was a lot of change to endure in two days. My body was like WHOA!!! hold on... what in the world are you doing. Like I said this is not an easy thing to do. We have to recondition our minds and body and it can be difficult. What you are feeling is normal and like someone posted above... your body is having to readjust and level off. Give it some time and just take things slow. Focus on the positives and the great transformation that is slowly taking place. I do believe it is all worth it in the end...
Oh and if your doctor has upset you or made you feel a certain type of way about your progress I believe you should express those feelings to him/her at your next visit and let them know how you feel. Hey, they get paid a lot of money for their services so you should be able to discuss ANY and EVERYTHING under the sun.
    Best wishes to you

I am so with you! I have been flooded with mixed emotions lately its been crazy. It is because we are loosing weight and our bodies are releasing hormones like crazy. I have been depressed, happy, and horny all in one day and I feel like a crazy person. And talk about tired as well, holy cow I have all this energy but I am mentally exhausted at the end of the day because of the wild ride called emotions. It will all settle down once your body realizes that the weight loss is here to stay for a bit. My doctor told me its because my body doesn't want to loose the weight because its so comfortable with being overweight for a long time. Keep your head up, it will soon will pass.

KayleeC14 reacted to CowgirlJane in been rethinking the whole "full disclosure" topic - singles out there?
I am single and although I am not currently dating/trying to meet someone for a Long term I have over the past nearly a year done some online dating. I have always felt that before someone decides to "see" me he should know my history of obesity and plastics. I don't bring it up on the first or second date, but planned to tell anybody that I really intended to "go" with.
I have a "friend" that I have been seeing quite awhile (no long term potential there) and he told me -without my even asking - that I shouldn't bother mentioning my plastics. He knows everything I had and saw the wounds at 2 and half weeks so is very aware - and now at 3 months tells me he doesn't even notice them. By the time I am 6 or 12 months out the scars will be so faded... in his mind just not relevant. He also knows about my history of obesity and again sorta thinks it is irrelevant for dating. I guess by the time you are really serious with someone you should say something, but in the nearterm, just doesn't seem that important. He tells me I don't look like someone that was ever overweight (whatever THAT means) and since i am quite committed to maintaining fitness just isn't relevant.
I didn't totally agree with him since I like to get stuff out on the table, but I was reflecting that some of the men I met on online dating want to tell me way too much, way too soon and it is a huge turn off. Like, I am more interested in the who that you are now, the dreams you have for your life and the future you are working for then hearing about your bleepity-bleeping ex wife for instance. I was thinking that maybe my friend is right, that it is info that someone should eventually know, if we are really serious, but for a basically dating type relationship it just isn't that important.
i am curious what you other "singles" think about this.

I am so happy I decided to have the sleeve. I just got so tired of being fat. I say fat, because I was. I'm still on my journey to a better and brighter future. I'm the type of person who believes, if something can go wrong with me, it will go wrong. I was so nervous going in to surgery. What if I die? What if I get a serious infection? What if I quit breathing? I decided to start praying and quit worrying! Thankfully, I have been the model patient so far for the sleeve. I have not had one complication! I have strictly followed my Drs orders. I'm experiencing a lot of different reactions from family and friends. My mom and sister are trying to force feed me. They think I'm not eating enough, which in fact I get in at least 65 g of Protein plus my 64 ounces of Water everyday! My friends look at me weird when I eat a few bites, and I'm full. But everyone still supports me. I have such a good sense of humor, I make light out of their worries about me. They are more afraid of this lifestyle change than I am. I still have a long way to go, but I'm loving life more and more everyday! Oh and I'm not a bit scared to stand on a scale! Bc I know I will never be at my heaviest EVER AGAIN!! I had surgery October 30, 2013. So I'm not quite 4 months yet, but close enough! 90 pounds down and I couldn't be any more proud of myself!

I had my surgery back in November 2013 and it was a revision to the lap band. At first only my parents knew and of course sisters. I slowly starting to tell people like my family and very close friends when I knew that I was approved for the surgery. In 2008 when I had the lap band done and everybody and their brother knew about it. I wanted to make sure that I could have the revision done, and told my family not to say a word on any social network sites. It took me up to the surgery date for me to say "hey everybody this is whats happening" I started a blog, and directed my friends to read it so they know what exactly I am going through so I didnt have to face the questions up front. I am about two months out and doing great, I have a huge support team that helps me a lot! After coming out on Facebook I was very surprised on how many people have I inspired to get themselves healthy as well.

So..... my brother, some of my friends and coworkers....(all of them who have never been overweight or fat) are reallllly annoying me!! Its like they cant live a normal life knowing I am preparing for WLS, When really its none of their business! I have struggled all my life... I have dieted joined every kind of weight loss program there is, and for 2 years straight I worked out daily with my brother (who lives at the gym) to lose weight and nothing has every gotten me results! And nothing has been permanent! They don't understand what its like to feel miserable in your own body! Or to workout day to day and only lose a few pounds in a few months. I finally have something that can aide me in my never ending journey to shed the pounds and I feel like everyones trying to take that away from me. My one shot of happiness seems to be upsetting everyone around me. Its not like Im taking the easy way out... nothing about WLS is easy and it will be the hardest thing that I have ever done. Just want them to be content with my decision and at the very least keep their mouths closed if they cant be supportive! Is that so much to ask for?! Or at the very least be happy that I have never given up on losing weight and becoming healthier I just decided to chose my way to get there! END RANT. lol p.s. sorry about my run-on sentences (Im famous for them)

That thread was disgusting to read! I know there are a lot of people out there that think that weight loss surgery is the "Easy" way out but to all who have had surgery knows all too well it is not. I fight the battle everyday making better choices and fighting old habits. Those people are worthless in my mind, if they cannot accept or get through their heads that not everybody is like them. It bugs me a little what people say not about me but overall about weight loss surgery.
