Wallflower7522 got a reaction from Texasmeg in Before and After pictures
There may be other threads like this, but I thought I'd start a new one here, so everyone could contribute no matter which surgery you had. One of my big inspirations is looking at everyone's before and after pics. I've spent hours on Instagram looking at people's pics so. I thought others might feel inspired too so if you feel comfortable share your before and after pictures here.
I'm only 7 weeks out (RNY) but I'll start. My BFF had surgery a year ago. We went to the zoo two years ago and when we went back this weekend we thought it would be fun to find the picture we took then and take similar ones now. I was at my high weight then, and at my current weight in the 2nd pic. I still have a long way to go obviously, but I was pretty happy with the difference so far.

I downloaded the Pact today, formally Gym Pact. Basically how it works is, you work out you earn money, you don't work out you pay.
Well they now have an option to sync with My Fitness Pal and if you remember to log in you get paid, and if you don't you pay.
So I signed up for the MFP pact this week and i was going to sign up for the gym part when my gym opens next week. After I signed up I learned that it doesn't count if you log less than 1200 calories. FAIL. I didn't realize this before even after reading some reviews. I'm going to cancel it after the first week and just log a couple of extra Snacks for my log in this week. Just wanted to warn you all if you're thinking of signing up.

Here is a big NSV for me, my little garden. I'm going to eat healthy and grow some of what I eat. I don't think I would have ever had the energy or motivation to do this last year. It's small, but I tilled it all by hand so it was a lot of work. I'm not done with it yet, but I've so happy with what I've got done so far.

Wallflower7522 got a reaction from Ginger Snaps in Exercise causing weight gain
Muscle weighs more by volume. A pound of anything weighs the same as a pound of anything else. But a cup of muscle will weigh more than a cup of fat. Muscle has more density. Volume matters. That's why you can gain weight, ie muscle, and still loose inches. It's also why you can have a high BMI but not be over weight. Sorry....I'm a little nerdy when it comes to physics.

Wallflower7522 got a reaction from Bandista in Not sure how I feel about this
I've not even secretive about my surgery, but I've certainly not told a ton of people at work. I expected the comments to be nonstop, but it's not been as bad as I thought it would be. Someone I don't know very well yesterday said "oh such and such was saying how you look like you've lost so much weight." And that was a little weird because that means people I don't know where talking about me.
I think it's hard to hear compliments sometimes because they can almost feel like an insult to our former selves. They say "Oh you look so good, your face is so much thinner" and you hear "you looked horrible before and had a fat face." Just remember 90% of the time that's not what people are saying. Most people are just genuinely happy for you.

March 4th and I'm in the exact same boat. I've not lost anything the past couple of days and I'm up a couple of pounds. I've been getting more Water in the last few days (and probably sodium too). I was kind of dehydrated but I'm doing better now. So I'm telling myself that it's probably water weight.

Wallflower7522 got a reaction from RNBSN786 in Slow weight loss
Mine was March 4th I've lost 33lb since day of surgery not including what I lost on my liquid diet. So it sounds like I'm just a bit ahead of you. My weight loss has slowed down a lot the past week or two. It's just going to take time. If sounds like you're doing good. Of course I wish I was losing 1-2 lbs a day, but I know it will happen eventually.
Also remember the smaller you are, the slower you're going to loose. I see your starting weight was 265, mine was 291. Most of the people who loose 40-50lbs a month like you see on TV have much higher starting weights.

Wallflower7522 got a reaction from Danni-doinit4me in Anyone with migraines
At one point in my life I used to have a headache every single day and Migraines once or twice a month, sometimes more frequently. Not eating has always been a trigger for me, and I was worried about that too. Honestly it didn't bother me after the first few days. I took Tylenol the first week I was on my preop liquid diet and that helped.
I've had 3 surgeries in an effort to end my frequent headache and migraines. Two rounds of Lasik/PRK to fix my screwed up vision and now my RNY. I'm at 2 months now and I've only had one Migraine and almost no regular headaches.

Wallflower7522 got a reaction from I'mPossible052614 in Post Op March 2014
So something kind of amazing happened today. I asked for 4 weeks off work. My doctors office said start with 4, and we could ask for more if I needed it. MetLife is notorious for only approving 4 weeks for this surgery, and I had no intentions of taking more. Well apparently when MetLife called my doctors office, the doctors office said up to 6 weeks and told them I could go back after my 6 week follow up. MetLife called me today with an approval for the full 6 weeks! I know I probably don't need it, but I'm thrilled to have it. My husband and I work opposite shifts so I do not see him at all M-F so it's going to be great. I'm feeling very blessed today.
Hope those of you recovering or preparing for your surgery are doing well.
