Seriously, you could get a leak or a food particle caught in your staple line or any number of problems. I know it sucks but, really, it's only five more days. If you're wanting to give up this soon out you're gonna have nothing but issues moving forward.

Sleeve, Band, Bypass...OH MY!! Seriously can't we all just get along? Who cares about what surgery? Support me and I sure as hell will support you and I don't care what surgery you had. Questions is what you chose...is IT working for you?

If you read my post, and not let TMF get you off track, you will see that I did not--not in any way--bash any procedure. I didn't assert any bias, and I also didn't craft the first link's slides. It was simply info from Bariatric surgeons, the actual link to their slides.
In fact, Dr. Ponce--the doctor who presented why lapband is still an option--HIS SLIDES graphically indicate that the band (Adjustable Gastric Band: AGB) is declining in use around the world. See his slides 37-41, again at Ponce.pdf" rel="external nofollow">http://asmbs.planion.com/EvalCenter/ASMBS/images/106296_6_106296_6_LAGB_still_valid_operation-Ponce.pdf . Uh, 2MF, follow the 'AGB' golden-colored line, if that helps you. So again, my post wasn't an 'opinion' piece; I didn't tout one surgery over another. I simply shared info. It's sad that folks would let 2MF misconstrue the post, assign ill intent, etc., then get others in a fuss. He obviously has anger issues and is ready to rant about anything he construes as anti-band, or if he doesn't like the data. My original post was not my opinion, or my telling anyone to do this or that. It is what I said it was: info presented at an obesity conference, provided as an fyi to do with what you will. Anyway, have a good one!

You have to use your imagination: imagine that Isopure (or whatever) tastes like that turkey pot pie roux/gravy. mmmm, yum, yum. (I know...it's not the same!!)
It's hard, but be assured, it gets better. Hang in there, init...

Listen to the sleeve. So now I'm going to give you some tough love. WTH were you thinking, tasting that rich sauce 9 days out? Stick to your nutritional plan
Seriously, we all want you to succeed. You will have to give up tasting your cooking for a while. And you need to take care of yourself so you don't end up in the hospital. The baby sleeve needs babying. Don't overwhelm it.
    OK, I'm done lecturing now

Uh...to '2much fun"...anger issuers, perhaps? I said NOTHING about anyone being "stupid," etc. I was simply trying to pull from the 57-slide presentation what that presenting doctor said.
FYI here's that link. As you will see, I didn't put MY extrapolation into either report, so...you know not of which you speak. Ponce.pdf" rel="external nofollow">http://asmbs.planion.com/EvalCenter/ASMBS/images/106296_6_106296_6_LAGB_still_valid_operation-Ponce.pdf
I don't get into conversations with what I call online 'rhetorical agitators' who bark about this or that. I simply shared info from, yes, an "Obesity Week" conference, not a "so-called" conference. Google it.
Your nastiness, anger and aggression is unnecessary. Maybe you need to live up to your username--get out and have some fun.
    Have a nice day.

For my personal weight loss journey..I had the band..did not work for me..had the sleeve and I have lost 42 pounds thus far.. My other siblings had the band and it also did not work. The sleeve really has reduced my hunger..however, I do see members on this website successful with the band. The final decision is up to you. Go to a reputable dr that is in a center of excellence environment. Talk to him about your situation ..Your expectations, risks, etc. Then make an informative decision that is best for you. I personally don't like statistics to drive me in making a decision. Talk to different people about their chosen weight loss surgery. To me ..weight loss success has to do with comimitment , determination and perserence to get healthy and stay healthy. These surgeries are tools to get there.

You're an intelligent person, who shows a lot of concern and care in your posts, except when you think the poster is wrong. Then words like, stupid, silly, etc fall into the text and the attention is diverted from the issue.
The first set of slides were, I think incomplete. The second link worked great. The problem with almost all band studies is that the data IS old. There is a newer long term study underway, but the old studies and anecdotal information, along with the device mfr info, is all we have to go on.
In the bariatric surgery community, things need to change. Everybody needs to stop protecting their own position, product, ego...do the right thing. I think a little more honesty by all of the purveyors of WLS would benefit all of the "customers".

There is no need for defensiveness. We are only expressing our humblle opinions which is what newbies want. They will eventually make their own intelligent decisions. Can u imagine what harm we are giving newbies when they get on this website for the first time and see arguments and defensiveness. That would have been a big turnoff for moi. We are here to help and I think the newbies are smart enough to know that what we say are our own experiences. They can take or not take what we say. This is not a winning contest as to what surgery is "right".
Let us be positive. Let us empower those who are struggling with obesity. I for one have leaned on this website pre and post op, Like the sleeve, this website has give me hope, strength and success. We want that for everyone.
It is all good. Now let us move on to helping others. Amen.

This is more a cost/benefit/risk analysis and funded by Allergan (former owner of Lapband), but does note the declining use of the device.
Whether the device itself is the cause of late complications, poor surgical skill or other factors, the trend seems to be a moving away from this procedure.

A friend sent this picture to me. I don't know who dressed up their beloved pet like that. LOL. But it sooo reminds me of a picture taken of me at my friend's house the afternoon of my VSG, trying to sip. Funny! (I was done as an outpatient.)
Until I post my actual pictures, enjoy this; maybe you can relate and smile. And yes, it gets better. (For me, March 4th = 3 months; approaching 45 pounds down.)

Dr-Patient reacted to JanetPRN in Compression Garments?
I always use a compression garment of some sort to manage my "Spillage".I liken my my body to a pair of panty hose; once you try on the hose, they never go back to the original shape. Neither will I, and at age 52 , my goal is to manage the saggies and extra skin.
I have many different brands compression garments , but my favorite is Kymaro., from those dorky infomercials. I buy mine at Bed Bath and Beyond and save $ especially when I use the 20% off coupon. They hold their shape well and really do manage the muffin tops and give good support. They are definitely no frills but cost less than Spanx and Flexees. Good luck!
