Fullofitx3 got a reaction from GoldnGirl6677 in First few weeks
I was sleeved 1/20/14, the first couple days I was sore but the more I moved and walked around the better I felt, I was lucky, no gas pains and no complications. I think the hardest part for me was when eating or preparing meals my eyes were defiantly bigger then my stomach, I quickly learned to portion meals out.
Now a little over 2 months out I feel great, been working 4/5 days week and actually started jogging, I have so much more energy, my clothes fit much better my only regret is not doing this sooner

I can't believe how the sleeve has changed my life. Prior to surgery I was at my heaviest 285, the last time I weighted myself I was 229, I don't weight myself often so not sure where I'm at now, going to the gym 3-4 times a week, today I went for a 2 mile run. I feel great, clothes fit so much better and I have so much more energy.

I found a recipe to make califlower pizza on internet, so I decided to try it today, it came out great and I added all the ingredients to my fitness pal which came out to 280 cal, 18 grams carbs, 23 grams Protein for the whole pie, I was only about to eat 1/4 of it. Next time I'm gonna try it with different topping like buffalo chick with low fat blue cheese.
    Here is the recipe:

I'm about 11weeks post op and feeling great, been out to eat a couple times but usually just got Soup. Yesterday went to Applebee's with the family and my youngest was looking at the children's menu and said hey dad they have a 4oz steak that would be perfect for you and it comes with mozzarella sticks, which we could share if you want. we all started laughing then after thinking about it I was like that's actually a good idea so I went ahead and ordered it, you could choose from a bunch of different sides but since I knew the steak would be plenty so I got the mozzarella sticks for the boys. let me tell you that steak was the perfect size for me and the price was great, which was around $6, will defiantly be ordering this again.

I told my wife and my parents and that's it. I have two young kids and even though I went to surgery, was laid out for a few days and have lost 50 pounds since, they haven't noticed.
I have a high profile job and just didn't want all the attention or to have to deal with everyone's questions. I think your average person just doesn't understand this. When people ask what I'm doing to lose the weight, I say "high Protein, low carb, small portions and very little alcohol." All 100% true. Since people typically don't like that answer, they just shrug their shoulders and say something like "good for you."
BTW, as part of my job, I'm frequently out at business lunches and dinners. For the first 2 months post opp, I really avoided them, but now I go all the time. Everyone's so busy stuffing themselves, they hardly recognize how little I eat. I just order something that reasonably fits into the prescribed diet and then pick at it slowly. At some point the waiter passes by and I say "you can take my plate". He scoops it up (1/3 eaten) and that's it. Personally I was really worried about all this, but it's fine. And bigger parties with buffets are even easier -- you just nibble unnoticed.
Totally respect those that told the world but I'm really a private person, so that's not my thing.

I'm 2 weeks post op and feeling better everyday. I've started on puréed foods this week and can't get over the fact that I'm stuffed after 2 or 3 bites, the other day I made refried Beans with a little bit of cheese and salsa and it was so good I tried to get another bite, big mistake, even though I didn't throw it back up I felt very uncomfortable and I learned my lesson.

Fullofitx3 got a reaction from stephg in is this normal?
This is totally normal, I was just sleeved mon 1/20/14, even up until they put me under I was considering chicken out but can't say enough good things about the hospital staff, the anesthesiologist sensed I was extremely nervous asked if I wanted to something to take the edge off and the next thing I know I was awake and my wife spoon feeding me Jello, I was never in a lot of pain just really sore, the hardest thing for me was urinating, for some reason I had a hard time going and my stomach (bladder) started hurting from all the fluids, after walking about 50 laps around the hospital floor I finally went, then was home by noon on Tuesday, stopped the pain meds Thursday.
The first couple days it was tough to get all the Protein and Water in but getting better everyday.

I had my sleeve surgery on Thursday. The first 24 hours were rough, I had a good deal of pain and some nausea. They were able to manage my nausea much better than the pain. My dr had only prescribed 2mg of morphine every 2 hours as needed and this just barely took the edge off. Friday morning I had my swallow test and had a little bit of a scare there as the radiologist said the barium was only "trickling" through but that it was most likely due to swelling. They went ahead and progressed me to thin liquids from NPO, so I was able to start sipping some Water. They changed up my pain meds and I started feeling much better from about 9am yesterday on.
I can still only take small sips of liquid as it feels like I am swallowing an air bubble almost every time. My stomach gurgles some after most every drink. It all seems to be getting a little easier every hour and I am feeling really good today. I will be on thin liquids for 9 more days which is fine since I don't really have any hunger to mention. I weighed this morning and I am down a total of 24lbs since starting the pre-op liquid diet just 2.5 weeks ago, so very happy on that front.

Fullofitx3 got a reaction from McButterpants in How long did it take you to decide to have surgery
I, like many others was considering the lap band several years ago and started going to all the prerequisite drs appt for approval, during this time I lost a considerable amount of weight and chickened out of surgery. Slowly the weight came back plus some and I felt like crap all the time, clothes didn't fit, work uniform was super tight and I found myself wearing the same clothes all the time because they were stretched out and comfortable.
Decided in dec '13 I had enough and needed to do this for not only myself but my family, I was just sleeved this past mon 1/20/14, and feeling great, like I have a new begging of life and so looking forward to this summer and wearing clothes that been hanging in the closet for a such a long time.
You will know when the time is right for you, get as much info as you can in the mean time so you can decide what's best for you.
