    Gym routine help please

If you dont want to spend money on a personal trainer, try bodybuilding.com They have plans for women based on yours goals - gaining muscles, toning, etc. All their plans are free and some even come with a meal plan, like Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer, which is 12 weeks. You dont have to do the complete workout, but its a good starting point. If you dont know the exercises google them or ask a trainer at the gym to demonstrate. Its a lot cheaper than paying for individual training sessions

    I've lost 70 pounds, but.....

I can understand where you are coming from. At 303 lbs, I just wanted to make sure everything was covered. Now, 40 lbs down, my clothes I currently have are either too big or too small. Its frustrating because you want to feel confident with your new weight loss, but its hard to when clothes dont fit like they should. Keep up the good work!! You're doing AMAZING.

    protein bars?

I'll back Quest bars as well. Bake a cookie dough one in the oven for 5 mins and its like a fresh baked cookie. Or bake a brownie one and top it with a little cool whip. Heaven! Cookies and cream, apple pie, and pb&j i like just on their own.
  6. 40 lbs down, 8 weeks post-op! next goal: 255, to get my BMI under 40 :)

    Pouch test

You're in a stall.. Your body is in shock from surgery and trying to figure out what happened. Stalls usually happen for every wls patient at around 3-4 weeks. I wouldn't be worried, at this point your body is still healing. Plus, your calories are still pretty low and your body probably thinks its starving. Keep off the scale for a few days/weeks. It'll start coming off again soon. Pouch tests are more for veterans who have been slacking on their eating or eating too big of portions, or just need a reset.

    Fitness Program Recommendations?

My sister has done insanity and T25, she likes it, esp for a quick workout. You can also go to bodybuilding.com and find workout plans that are built for woman and you can pick them based on you goals (gaining muscle, toning, etc). They usually give you a 4-12 week workout plan and some of them come with meal plans, like Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer, which i've done before in the past.

  17. Try a heating pad!! or have someone karate chop the area to try and release some of the gas!
  18. Muscle does not weigh more than fat, a pound is a pound, but muscle takes up less space than fat, so you could be losing inches and not weight. Your body could be retaining Water or anything to make up those 2 little pounds. Don't get down on yourself. You're making great steps to make yourself better. Do not let the scale dictate your every move. I'm trying hard to go by that, its hard, but it def makes this whole thing easier. Can i ask what you are doing in the gym?

    Port Discomfort

I'm 7 weeks post op, but have been lifting since week 3. I have port discomfort every once in awhile. I actually made it really tender bending over to pick up laundry, it was so bad, i didnt lift for 2 days. from what i've read, some people never really encounter much post discomfort, and some are always aware that its there. i'm thinking i'm going to be one who always knows its there. i go home after the gym and put an ice pack on it and take some ibuprofen (Nurse practitioner ok'ed ibuprofen) and that seems to help.
  20. Its nice to clear your head. I tend to forget about it for a few weeks, then have catch-up posts hahah its worth a shot. if you dont like it, you dont have to keep doing it.

    Chewable vs gummy vitamins

I was in pre-op seminar, so vsg, rny, and band info, and they told us all NO to gummies. they're missing 3 Vitamins you need. they recommended Flinstones complete, so thats what i've been using.

    Lapband v Sleeve

My BMI was about 47 (295 - 5'7'') and I was actually turned down for lap-band by my original surgeon. I saw his colleague and he said he could def see me being successful with the lap-band at thats what i chose. i'm 7 weeks post-op, almost 40 lbs down, and feel alive again. You need to make the decision you're comfortable with. Yes the lap-band requires more intuitive eating, learning your soft stops, but I think anyone could be successful at any surgery if they really want to.

DENIED! : ( BY BCBS FED

I will say, I HATE the office staff at Carmodys office. He, Maya Paige, and Jeneane (my NP) are all great, but the PSRs and Ellen are the worst. Sorry you were denied. I would try appealing.
