Hey there! How is everybody doing this morning?
Hey Donnajade and Bandedmomx6 whats up today.......other than laundry, LOL! I still have "port area soreness" wonder how long that takes to go away! Otherwise for day 4, not too bad at all.

I've been cooking, just to illustrate to my DH that it's not going to bother me if he cooks or eats in front of me. Don't want him feeling like he has to hide.

Can't wait till the mushie stage. I'm guessing that'll be after my post-op appt. Nov. 13. When's yours Donnajade?

Well, time to get busy with a little housework so it doesn't snowball!!!!!!

NJ November Thread
Hi everybody, Well its been about 3 1/2days now since being banded and I gotta tell ya...day two was the one that insisted I rest! Today I fell like I've turned the corner. I can get out of a chair and bed without grabbing something to help me up! LOL...I still just let ,whatever it is that I just dropped on the floor, stay there unntil I ask DH to pick it up for me. Apparently toe touching is still a few weeks away! But I feel really good, and getter better quickly every day. I'm just about to run out of the high Protein liquid meal samples, so I'd better hustle-up something quick, since I'm supposed to be on this liquid diet til Nov. 13 (er, well, that's my post-op appt., hope dr. realeases me to mushies then!) Thanks Sherry for the info on the bodybugg, and good luck with yours! Sounds like something a gadget lovin' gal like me would love! Hope you have a safe trip, Kat. Good luck with all that needs to be done in TX. Sounds like a lot of hard work to me...don't wear yourself down too much.

HarleyN, so far so good. I'm rapidly running out of the starter pack of liquid choices that have high protien content, so I'll probably start scouring on line sites for some replacements during this liquids only phase. This phase is until Nov. 13 (my first pre-op appt.) I hope after that date my dr. will let me start mushies. Hunger so far is manageable. I bought a big bag of wonderfully crunchy Sonic bagged ice, as you said...great for filling that need to chew!!! Hope you're doing well!

hey mamato! you're approved! Don't worry, you'll get a date soon. I was offered a sooner date than the one I had, but hubby couldn't rearrange his schedule, so we kept the original date. They offered me the sooner date knowing that I had completed the nutrition class. I think thats a definate pre-requisite. I just got banded and all is well. Although I live in williamsburg, the hospital I had my surgery done at is in hampton. Good luck to you!

Newly Banded in Williamsburg
Good mornin' everybody! I just got banded yesterday. Laid around in the bed all day and now I can't get to sleep! So I thought I'd update everybody. Surgery went well. I didn't have any chapped lips or sore throat from the breathing tube, like I've read some people get. Nor have I had any gas pains in the shoulder Just a whole lot of tummy rumblings and very frequent urination.. Although that seems to be leveling of Other than that, all's well. Hope you folks have a great day:clap2:

NJ November Thread
Good mornin' Everybody! I hope ya'll don't mind me starting a NJ November thread. I didn't know if there was a protocol in place since you guys have been together for so long! LOL! Yesterday (1st day banded) really wasn't too bad at all. No sore throat or chapped lips from the breathing tube, that was great. More discomfort than pain, except when I tried to get in or out of bed. Our bed is one of those temperPedic mattresses, which basically means your hand sinks into the bed whenever you try to use it to push-off (making it tough). Think I'll stick to chairs today Jessica, everybody is of course, different....but for me it really has not been bad (knocking on wooden head). Unless it's gonnna sneak up on me I havn't had any of those shoulder gas pains I've read about. But there sure is a lot of rumbling in the tummy......it's probably still trying to recover from all the smell in the October thread: red candy apples, caramel apples, Cookies galore, stuffed jalapenos! Chrissie how was the date? Great I hope. Sounded like a nice comfortable way to spend it. Pat thanks so much for letting folks know how things went for me. At the time I was just feeling a little too nauseous to post. They gave me some Dilaudid (sounds like delotta) and I think thats what made me queasy. Cindy & Mandy you guys deserve a big hand for all that you did to make a happy time for all the children. Today you breathe a little, I hope! Mandy, Awesome Jack-O-Lanterns!!!! Hey Betty, Can you believe somebody's actually UP at this hour?!!!! LOL! Been laying around since the surgery yesterday morn. now I can't sleep! I notice where you were the first one up in the October thread Kat, hope your house is still in one piece, after grandson's visit! Sherry, you're right about the protien shakes. I knew they were'nt gonna be great, so my first day banded was my first taste, ugh....I sprinkled a little cinnamon on top so I could smell & taste that a little. It sorta helped. Hey Jess, see you in bandland on Tuesday I can't believe I'm actually thinking of doing some Christmas shopping saturday. It's been a thing with me to take off on my birthday to do that. I thought I'd be out of commission, but I don't feel too bad :clap2: Have a great day everybody!!!!

Thanks folks!!!!!!! I was so touched by all the well wishes from ya'll! Made me smile , I took off work early and went berserk cleaning the house and doing laundry....guess I didn't want to have any annoying thoughts: gotta do this, gotta do that gnawing at me! I pulled out all the band literature, for a last minute cram! I'm fretting that I won't remember what I need to or that I need to know specifics that aren't second nature to me yet. You veteran banders are proof to me that it'll be o.k. I can't wait to be done with this pre-surgery anxiety. Thanks again all! I write as soon as I'm able

Hey there Donna! So glad you checked in and that you're feeling better. I had told my husband about the lap band support / nutrition session that I went to and that I met another "wiliamsburger" there and when your surgery was going to be. He's been asking me if I heard anything from you on this forum since your surgery. He seemed visibly relieved when I said that you posted, and that you're doing fine. We're getting a little anxious....Just two more days 'til I'm in bandland too

Hey there folks, Hope everybody is doing alright. Jessica, I hope you're doing O.K. after having hose teeth pulled. I know biting on gauze is crummy.......I've had my share of pulled teeth!!! Sherry thanks so much for posting the recipe. It looks great and I've already printed it out. Pat I'm gonna have to try that recipe...I don't thimk I've ever eaten Tilapia. Anyway, sounds good to me! Thanks for the congrats, Cindy! I'm mentally ready for this. Just have a few more things to pick up,and I'll be set! I had a blood clot due to a complication from knee surgery, back in 1985. I was on coumidin for a year. Then had no other problems. But because of that history My weight loss surgeon wants me to do 10 days of blood thinners after banding. But I sure was surprised when he said it was an injection that I would have to do! UGH! :car: Oh well...better to err on the side of caution....just don't care much for the idea of injecting myself. I have Rx insurance, and even with that, those 10 days of injections were $100!!! Without ins., it would have been in excesss of $300! Crazy Huh? My birthday is just 3 days after I'm banded, and tonight my DH bought my birthday present. Concert tickets to Bonnie Raitt at a very new venue in Virginia Beach. The concert is November 16...I think that means I'll be on the third day of just starting mushies (sounds like it'll be a good week!) gnite all

Hi all! First off....YEAH JESSICA!!!!! So happy you got approved and have a date!!!! Hats off to you Patty for giving Jessica that tip about the pineapple juice (I'll have to remember that!) Kat, you took the words right out of my mouth about avoiding the "Last-meal-syndrome" ( Hmmmmmm, maybe I should have seen my dentist.....LOL) Kat you made me smile in admiration of your outlook:) Pat, you're right! closer and closer....Wednesday. Sometimes I can't tell if it's the upcoming surgery that has me on edge or the Menopause mood swings complete with a heapin'-helpin'-o'-hot-flashes!!!! Keepin' my fingers crossed for you getting that job, Mandy! DH just got home, so I'll see ya'll later (want to go grab some hugs & kisses) Diane

Hi all Finally just relaxin'. been busy all day. DH went fishin with a friend and since they took the boat out, I knew I'd have hours to get things done. Kat, hope you got your computer keyboard fixed. Wish I could get this one fixed! I swear I spend just as much time backspassing as typing...this laptop's keyboard doesn't always recognize when I hit a key! GRRRRRR. Anyway thankx for the encouragement . Wishing you restful nights, comfortable days and the answers you need. Eileen, too funny! (cheesburger) Tuesday is when I have my pre-op meeting with the surgeon ( it'll be the first time I'veever talked to him one-on-one). My band date is Wed. the 31st (halloween). Pat, was that the Poquoson seafood fest? my son went to that one with his girlfriend. I appreciate your surgery story, thanks for sharing. I gotta tell you guys, this morning I was reading some real old posts and OMG! I came across that whole thread by StrawartS! I'm sure all you veteran banders know the one I'm talking about....the really descriptive PBing post. Geez! readin' that pre-banding gave me a really creepy feeling....like: why am I getting ready to set myself up for that!!!!!! Some of you are probably ROTFLYAO g'nite all

Hey , how's everybody tonight? Well got finished painting the room I wanted to set up as a guest room.......looks so nice and fresh! now the rest of the place needs painting!!!LOL Donna, I keep thinking of you, knowing your date is tuesday! You'll be in bandland before me, so when you feel up to it, let me (us) know how you're doing. You're gonna be great! Gina, I read a previous post about bringing a pillow for the ride home....I got to thinking about that seatbelt and decided a squishy pillow might not be a bad idea! Pat I was laughing 'bout the gobblins too!!! Somebody asked me if I was going to paint anything on my tummy for the team in the OR to see for halloween, I said "No, I kinda don't want to distract them" (BOO!)

Helloooo Everybody!!!!! hope ya'll are doing alright, hopefully all finished with the stomache crud and put the boob back....no hats here! LOL I've missed All of you guys...I mean it! I had the weirdest feeling the other day after completing the pre-op tests, when the gal told me where to report to and to take the elevator up, I suddenly had a twinge of fear? anxiousness? Kinda surprised me. I posted on another thread that I feel like a very pregnant woman having nesting syndrome...been cleaning and painting and feeling like it all HAS to be done right now, before my life changes! I think I'm startin ta get the jitters! LOL. Did anybody wake up in recovery and think: what have I done? Or was it more like: alright! let the games begin!!! Well anyway.......found out my surgery time. They want me there at 5:30am for the 7:30 slot. I have to travel about 35 miles to get there. Yep, be gettin' up with the chickens, er, wait....I'll be wakin' up the chickens! LOL Yeah, definitaly getting nervous! Not about the surgery.....I just hope I can DO this! Mary, nice to meet you. Hope the bruises are fading and that all is well. Pat, party a bit for me would ya? I still have too much to do! LOL, Betty, Sherry,Cindy, Mandy, Jessica....EVERYBODY, Hope you have a relaxing weekend!!!!!!!
