  1. We have had some real bummers lately here on the board....eroded bands, slippage, removal of the band, etc. I AM HERE TO TELL YOU SOME GREAT NEWS and it's all due to my lap band!!!! Tonight my husband and I went to dinner at Outback Steakhouse....well, I can't eat all that steak, salad and potato...so, I said, "want to share"? Now this is a guy who could normally eat a side of beef himself!!! He said YES.....he said that since I am eating so much less he has come to realize the portions he is consuming are huge!!! It was great....we were both full, happy and had more money in our wallet then if we had purchased two meals. There was no upcharge for sharing which was great. So, how is that for great news.....I would love to see my husband healthier and more active....I want him around, I kinda love him!!! Let's all have a great Thanksgiving....we all have a lot to be thankful for.
  2. Hi Michelle, Wow, so sorry to hear about your eroded band....you are truly an inspiration to me and to so many others on this board. We are here to support you with or without a band.....you are one of us!!
  3. There is a tremendous lack of support after we are banded....not only in education about fills, but at the support groups. I thank God for this board as I know that it has been a God sent for me.
  4. Happy Birthday Alexandra.....you have been quite the inspiration for me....I thank you!
  5. I am so sorry to hear about your slippage....I will pray that within the next 7 days it corrects itself.....stay strong.....
  6. OK, where is the process are you? Have you talked to a surgeon? Has anything been submitted to the insurance company? Fill me in and I would be happy to help you....
  7. My Humana policy covered the surgery...YEAH!!!! Be persistent, find one person to talk to and always ask for them, oh, did I say be persistent??!!!
  8. Went to breakfast with my daughter this morning and the place with packed, so we had to give our name and wait. I usually (had) to ask for a table as opposed to a booth....could not fit!!! Anyway, my daughter says, "oh, we need a table"...and I then said bravely, "oh, it doesn't matter, a booth is fine." Well, we got a booth....AND I FIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!
  9. I know this may sound nuts, but I was just fine prior to my first slime/PB on Sunday...then Monday morning woke up feeling yucky and now I am stuffed up and have a sore throat. Could there be a corrolatation between sliming/Pbing and this "cold"?!!
  10. Just happened Sunday night...first slime with a PB....a scallop!!!
  11. Thanks everyone for the "pat on the back"....I really don't know how I would get along without all of you!!!!
  12. Today when I got into my SUV to take my daughter to ice skating lessons I thought for a split second that my husband must have moved the car seat back because I fit sooooo good!!! My stomach was INCHES, I mean, INCHES from steering wheel.....I realized then that my husband has not driven my car since this summer!!!! What a great feeling....I just sat in the driveway smiling for a couple of minutes before I pulled out.....wow, great feeling......
  13. Thanks....I am going to order mine today....I need something to "kick" my butt into the exercise mode....
  14. Hi everyone... Well, the last time I posted about my fill not working too well was on Thursday, I think...anyway, I went out of town on Friday morning (girls weekend...it was great!!) and Friday morning the fill "kicked in"....YEAH!!! So, it took about 3 to 4 days before it "worked". We ate in restrautants every meal, but I chose wisely, enjoyed each bite and lost 3.8 pounds......LOVE my BAND!!!!
  15. Fills are a "piece of cake"!!! Good Luck
  16. Need opinions here please....as you probably read I had a second fill on Tuesday. First fill was suppose to be 5cc (VG band), but he only got 2 cc out, so he only put 1 cc back in....so, now I am at 3 cc's (supposely). Here's my current situation....I really don't feel much rescriction. I am feeling hungry about 2 hours after I eat, etc...should I make an appointment for another fill this coming Tuesday? Or should I wait to see if it "kicks" in? I really would like more rescriction around the upcoming holidays.
  17. You are in my thoughts and prayer.....I am so sorry that you have to go through this.....I will be thinking of you on November 11th.
  18. So very sorry to hear about your band removal....you are in my prayers.
  19. I am so sorry you are going through this ugly mess.... Your doctor should be worried about being sued!!! I would look for a good attorney at this point.....your doctor should be held responsible.
  20. Thanks so much everyone for your support once again.....you guys are the best! I swear if it weren't for you guys I would be out in "leftfield" half the time. If next time I get a fill and we find "missing" saline I am going to talk to him about that blowing out the air! Can that be done only on the first fill or can a doctor take all the saline out at anytime and then blow the air out of the tubing???? I wonder....does anyone know?
  21. He just sent me home....I guess next fill if he does not get 3 ccs out he will check under flouro....
  22. I just assumed I had a 4cc band, but found out today that that is not the case. I had my first fill 9/26 and the doctor told me he put in 5 cc....well, I thought he meant .5cc!! Today during my second fill he tells me that I have the larger band (can squeeze up to 14 cc in it!!) and that he did in fact put in 5 cc the first time. BUT, when he pulled out the saline he got only 2 cc out....so, where did the other 3 cc go? He said that the first fill may have been miscalucated or I could have a LEAK!!?? Then he put a total of 3 cc back in......so, it is less then the first fill!! Well, I am confused to say the least....and I was praying as I drove home that I do not have a leak. Please send me a little prayer if you have a moment..... Has anyone experienced this type of thing?
  23. Thanks so much...I needed a good laugh!!!
  24. I had my surgery on August 17, 2005...so that's 2.5 months ago.....lost 20 pounds pre-op and 22 pounds post-op....total of 42 pounds gone forever!!! I had no complications with surgery, recovery time is quick, little to no pain, have only .5 cc in band, but going tomorrow for another fill. I started at 350 and currently weight 308....the NSV's are too numerous to list, but I can tell you that yesterday I spent 3.5 hours cleaning my daughter's bedroom without sweating to death, hurting or stopping every 10 minutes. Would I do it again.....in a heart beat!!! Good luck with your decision.....
  25. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am feeling better already....as you know I went back on the Prozac....I need it, but that's O.K. As long as I feel better I don't care because I can't live like I was when not taking it. Your support was what helped me get through this difficult time....I thank you all again.....
