  1. Thanks everyone....I got so thirsty that I called the hospital and spoke to a lab tech who told me that Water was just fine. Never thought "just water" could be so appealing!
  2. I was told I need to "fast" for 12 hours prior to my lab work tomorrow.....does that include no water?
  3. I already feel like I could be shuffled off to the "Antique Road Show".....
  4. Colleen, I wish you the best and I will say a prayer for you...you will do great, I am sure. This is your new beginning...new journey....new challenge....you will succeed!
  5. I had plans to go out with a friend to a club...she invited another friend of hers to join us. This was no problem with me as I always enjoy meeting new people. After about 2 hours of hanging out in this club, this new person looks at me and says, "can I ask you a question?". Well, of course, I said "sure, no problem". She said to me, "why would such a beautiful women like yourself let yourself get so fat?". Talk about a compliment with a slap on the face!!!!
  6. Sara.. Thanks...that's a good idea. I don't relish the idea of being "stuck" on a bus in the middle of August for the day and then start to feel crappy. I will test the "waters" the day before and see how I feel.
  7. Thanks for the information....This trip was pre-paid (only $35) in May so I was taking a chance I might not be able to go, so I think I will play it by ear. I had not thought about the "bathroom" thing.....might be a problem, especially on a bus!! Karen...I am a quilter and this is a trip with 55 other quilter friends to 4 different quilt shops (and we stop for lunch, of course!!). I went last year and we had a blast....
  8. Hi... have another question - I had planned on taking an all day (7am - 7pm) bus trip exactly one week after surgery. We will be traveling on a comfortable, air-conditioned bus and stopping about every 1 to 2 hours to shop. Do you guys think I will be up to that kind of thing within a week of surgery? Would sitting on a bus (not able to move around too much) be bad? I want to thank eveyone so very much for all your support and advise....this site has been a great help to me...big time!
  9. What did you have put on your medical ID bracelet?
  10. Crystal, I am having my surgery done by Dr. Burhop in Wisconsin. I am one of the luckily ones....my insurance is paying for my lap band! I can't wait...I would go in tomorrow if they could take me..hahaha
  11. Hi Girls, I have a "bra" question for you. I understand that after surgery wearing a bra can be uncomfortable..is this true? If so, what type/style of bra did you wear while healing? How long was it uncomfortable? Margo
  12. Anyone have an August date? Mine is August 17th.....what is yours? 13. I know I thought the same thing too when I first saw people posting "I have a date"!!! No, those days are wayyyyy over. I have been happily married for nearly 16 years.....
  14. About how long did it take for your incisions to heal? My doctor says I can swim once they are healed....he said about one to two weeks.
  15. Thanks everyone.... I got so excited that I booked a little 3 day trip to a huge waterpark in Wisconsin Dells (we go every summer, but I had planned not to go this summer due to my weight). I know my daughter will be so excited...she just loves to go...a real "Water bug". And now, I am excited, too. My sugeron says I can swim if my incisions are healed and they figure the incisions take from one to two weeks to heal so I should just make it.
  16. Hi everyone, I am so excited I can barely stand it.....my surgery is scheduled for August 17 at Noon. My new life, my new beginning. Thanks to everyone on this board....you all have given me such insight, support and love....
  17. Oh, wow, never mind....I guess I did it already!!! I am so excited about my surgery date and I not thinking straight.... Yes, it's true!!! I have been approved and a surgery date of August 17 is set. A new beginning, a new healthy life. Thanks
  18. Hi... How do I go about adding a signature to the bottom of my messages? Thanks...
  19. Wishing you the best of luck...BUT, as Alexandra says best, it is YOUR decision as to whether or not you have the bypass. It truly is a different "bird", so research carefully. You are very young and this is a life-long decision. Please continue to update us and as the others said you are always welcome here.....good luck. Margo
  20. Thank you so very much.....I could not be happier!!! Enjoy your July 4th weekend...I know I will. Margo
  21. I am fairly new here too, but I can tell you what the lingo means.... DH = dear husband PB = productive burp (I could explain, but I would rather someone who has experience explain it!) NSV = Non-scale victory (like being able to cross your legs, or fitting into a booth at a restaurant, etc.) Hope this helps....and welcome! ME in WI
  22. Hi everyone.... I am so excited I could just keep doing the "happy dance" all night long!! I got approval from my insurance company. Thank you everyone for letting me "vent" and supporting me while I waited and prayed. My surgeon's office said that they must hear directly from the insurance company before scheduling my surgery day, but the scheduler said it looks like the end of July!!! OMG, I am so ready....I can't wait!!! I am getting closer to being a bandster!!!! I have visions of next summer in my head....and these visions include me at poolside in a swimsuit sipping an iced tea....... Margo

I've heard the same thing, but have not tested the theory yet. But, I plan to since I found a new drink at Sam's Club. I don't like the taste of green tea, but I found ICE at Sam's Club which is green tea, ginseg, and ??? something else good for you...can't remember at this point! They flavor the tea, for instance, I just tried the strawberry-kiew flavor....yummy.... Margo

Delarla..... You and your peeps look like you really know how to have fun, girlfriend! Nice bikes, too.....my husband is consulting at Harley-Davidson AND LOVES IT!!! He wants a bike soooo badly, but I told him until he can show me more responsible "car" driving...no bike!! I know it's harsh, but I love him and want to keep him around... Just yesterday I told him that once I get my weight off...I might just be the one to get a bike and he can ride bitch!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey, did you guys make it to Milwaukee last summer for the big bash? Keep having fun.... M
  25. O.K., wow, that's fast....so I would suggest you ask yourself the following questions: 1. Did I do enough research on the lap band to really understand how it works? 2. Am I ready for a "lifestyle change"? 3. Have I tried food plans and execise to try and lose weight? 4. Do I have any co-morbidities which absolutely have to be addressed with weight loss? 5. What is my reason for getting the lap band? Good luck.....remember there is no rush....research, understand, be ready for and want a change in your life. Margo
