  1. Thanks Kathy....your description is excellent and understandable (is that a word???). You guys are the best.....
  2. CaliQueenBee, sisterp, Chris101....hope your surgery was smooth and your recovery even smoother!!!
  3. Eat slowly, chew, chew, chew and chew some more, remember NO drinking.....ENJOY!!
  4. I am sure this question has been asked and answered somewhere on this board...but can't find it. So, when we BP that is different than a "normal" burp, right? I ask because I am only 8 days out and nearly every time I eat I burp....it's not gross, nor does anything come up....just a burp or two. I call this my STOP you are done eating burp!! Any comments?
  5. Wow, what an inspiration to us all and what a wonderful success story for the lap band world!!
  6. Alexandra, I am sending prayers to you.....think positive.....all will be good!
  7. Only been banded for, let's see....8 days now!!! What do I miss? NOTHING....I am loving my band, love the band lifestyle and love the SV's and NSV's!!!
  8. Choldren.....good luck tomorrow and wishing you a quick and comfortable recovery!!!!
  9. Oh, please, La madam, no offensive taken......but, thanks for changing the heading! AND THANKS FOR ALL YOUR WONDERFUL WISDOM.....
  10. You look wonderful...very handsome, I might add!!! You are truly an inspiration and thank you for all your words of wisdom.... Now correct me if I am wrong, but you are a Wisconsin guy, right? I am a Wisconsin gal...and I am telling you, this is not the easiest place on the face of the earth to lose weight...we love our beer, cheese and brats, right???!!! Again, kudos to you...
  11. Thank you so very much for the input, information and education for some of us.... I am sure more of us know what you have informative us of, but we are new at this and sometimes just posting and having you old pros put our minds at ease helps us. I would not consider myself, or any other new bandster "struggling"....just curious with confirmation desired in our new lifestyle. We come here looking for help....thanks for all your help!
  12. Thanks ladies....I knew I would get good information from you "old" pros....you guys rock!!!
  13. I am 5 days post-op and using fitday.com finding that I am eating only about 400-600 calories a day....I am following my nutristionist clear liquid diet. Is this enough calories? The scale has only moved 2 pounds down since surgery...just curious what your experience was immediatelty after surgery??!! Thanks
  14. Winter manicure or pedicure?
  15. I have a weekend retreat coming up in October where you can opt to get your meals through the hotel.....you pay through the nose, but it is convienent. I thought about not doing this since I will not be eating much and would simply not be "getting my money's worth"....then I thought, wow, how cool, instead of eating everything and STILL being hungry, I will eat what I can, leave the rest and be satified!!!! That's worth the price of admission right there!!!!!
  16. Honestly, the only three things that I packed which I actually used was my pillow, light robe and my chapstick....used a toothbrush/paste supplied by hospital, stay in the hospital gown, they had non-slip socks for me, etc....I went home in the same (loose, comfy) clothing I came in! Good luck....the key to all this surgery stuff is STAY HAPPY, PLEASANT and KEEP A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR...the experience is much more pleasant for you and the staff this way!!! I actually miss some of my nurses and especially miss my wonderful voluneeter helper...she was so sweet...
  17. I ditto what la madam says....thank goodness for the lapband, 'cause without it I too would be obese the rest of my life. I can't tell you how the band has changed my life since I first started researching to today (which is only 4 days post-op)......I am a new person, with a new outlook and new life ahead of me! Good luck with your research and decision....and as many have said..it is your choice, not your doctors nor your insurance company.
  18. Nope, no egg drop soup yet!!! I think I will stick with what the doc says and suggestions from la madam and vinesqueen and just stick it out for 2 more days...I CAN DO IT!!!!! Thanks...
  19. I have finally come to point where I am feeling hungry. I am 4 days post-op. I have been on a full liquid diet since August 3.....then 2 days of clear liquids prior to surgery....then nothing to eat or drink on surgery day....now I am on day 4 of clear liquids!!! I am dreaming about Cream of Wheat, pureed cottage cheese or simply some blendized soup. My next change in "diet" is full liquids starting Wednesday..........man, I hope I can hold out......would some cream of wheat be a problem now????
  20. pepsi.....(diet) Sunrise or sunset?
  21. Thank you everyone...I feel like a new person already! I am so excited about this "trip"...my new beginning! My husband has been so helped and supportive, my mom still has my daughter (and thank you for the idea to get her a "thank you") and all my friends have called to see how I am doing and everyone on this board has been such a friend....I feeled very blessed.
  22. I am back and banded!!!! I love my band already!!!! The surgery was smooth....I don't even remember being asked to "count backwards", don't remember recovery all at, first thing I remember is being wheeled into my room and saying "hello" to my husband, daughter and mother!!! I had wonderful nurses, left the hospital the following day at about 2 p.m. Only take my pain meds at night, sleeping in recliner yet, but thinking about trying my bed tonight. Not too interested in eating, but I am getting tired of the "sweet" tastes of the clear liquid diet. I am looking so forward to Cream of Wheat on Wednesday!!! I hope all the other August Bandsters have pleasant surgery experiences and quick recoveries....I feel blessed.
  23. bbgal, just got banded on Wednesday and I know the 4 inside walls of my bathroom quite well at this point. No, it is not dumping....the diarerrha is normal...this too pass, I am told.
  24. Margo replied to NJChick's topic in The Lounge
