  1. I usually have an egg for Breakfast (sometimes with a half piece of whole wheat toast), lunch meat and cheese for lunch (sometimes with a little fruit), and chicken or fish with a little bit of a green vegetable for dinner. Occasionally, I add a tablespoon or two of potatoes or rice. Mid-morning, I usually have a low-carb greek yogurt and mid-afternoon a Protein shake. It's funny - I saw a "challenge" diet on Facebook and it was basically my normal way of eating now. It doesn't seem like a challenge at all!
  2. Paul, I am only 5 mos. out, am in my late 50's, and have lost 60 lbs. I expect to lose more - will see what the body does. I'm not finding it didficult, though.
  3. I am also nearly 5 months out. Pain is the symptom for me. I can usually eat spicy food - but chicken Szechuan nearly had me doubled over last night. I've learned my lesson about that one!
  4. I had my bra fitting at Dillard's and they were very good at it.
  5. Five months out and haven't needed or wanted to do that yet. I used to be a diet coke addict.
  6. I've seen some online that look like those plastic bracelets athletic men wear. Go online and shop around.
  7. I've been doing pilates (very good for the core) and my stomach is flat! I keep looking for muscles as I lose more weight - hoping to see some (not a lot). I have planked in the past and may add that to try to accelerate the efforts.
  8. Also, you can drink lots of calories in ways other than alcohol (certain coffee drinks, for example).
  9. My Dr. Picked one based on the average sleeve wt loss of 60 - 70% and the Nurse Practitioner asked me to pick a lower one.
  10. It's slowing down, but I lost a pound. HW: 232 SW: 223 CW: 173
  11. Depends on what awful feeling you are talking about - but I felt pretty normal at 2 mos. At three mos. I felt like I was on top of the world!
  12. Don't wait to wear it out - you look great!!!
  13. At eight days, it feels like you ran straight into a wall and you wonder what in the world you did to yourself and why. The improvement happens very quickly and you will start to appreciate your choice in a few weeks. Hang in there.
  14. Congratulations! Good to have you on the losing side.
  15. I can relate to the part about sleeping - my hip bones seem sharp against the memory foam mattress. I do sometimes miss being able to eat large quantities of food and have 2 or 3 glasses of wine in an evening. Would I go back where I was if I could? Absolutely not!!! I love being more normal in size, but I really love having control over my eating for a change. Very glad I did this!!!
  16. I couldn't have done it - I agree with the advice to put off the surgery until after the wedding. At that point, getting my Water and Protein down so I could stay alive was a full-time job.

I love my road bike - it goes much faster than my hybrid!
  18. One other thought - with plastic surgery, people loose a lot of unecessary skin (which is also an organ). Just think of the 85% of the stomach as not only unecessary, but counterproductive.
  19. A church or a hospital?
  20. OMG - I'm at Panera right now and had a womderful time looking at the chocolate croissant. No real craving - more of an appreciation for an old friend.
  21. Texasmeg replied to SandyM's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I love cycling - makes me feel like a little kid again!
  22. You look wonderful and it is so inspiring to read about your success!
  23. What is the benefit of an online support group then, over a book? Most of the books I've seen on bariatric surgery cover these topics.
  24. I agree - the point of the forum is human contact - otherwise, you could just read a book.
