    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I haven't written in a long while myself and really don't follow, but saw the above title and waned to report in with good news. I got my sleeve on 12/13/13 and at the time had gone from a size 20/22 to a 10/12; lost a total of 86 pounds from when I got approval Aug 2013 and am walking 4-5 days/week for 30 minutes or more. I'm happy and doing well and wish you all the best. I can eat anything and the only thing I have problems with is eating a slice of bread with bacon and egg; it just kind of upsets my stomach. I can only eat small portions, but eat everything in moderation, including sweets.

For those of you with low energy; I was told by my doctors office it was because of inadequate protein. The B 12 helps as well.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

My surgeon had me take two bottles of Mag citrate the day before surgery; I was cleaned out before surgery This is all air and I suspect related to dumping syndrome, although, it's not supposed to happen or less so with VSG. I think it might be related to the sweet juices (apple, jello, cran raspberry). I've cut back on the sweet products and it's a little better. I see the doctor tomorrow and will check on it then.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Everything gurgles like rumbling through empty halls; I'm doing a little better, but can't believe I'm really swallowing that much air to support all that flatus. Sticking close to home and glad I haven't needed anything for pain since yesterday. Day 5 is shaping up.

They just made me sip a little bit to show what they needed to show; while nasty tasting, it was tolerable and showed that I didn't have a leak, for which I'm thankful.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I'm 55 and started at 246 lbs and I'm 5'10". Surgery was December 13; I was in the hospital 2 days and am doing well, at least I think so. Still on clear liquids, but think that will change tomorrow. As of yesterday, I was down to 230 and looking forward to continued loss. Still haven't found a decent protein powder I like to add to foods/fluids and that's a problem; I'm fine with liquid supplements for now as far as taste and appreciate the input of those who responded on another thread. I'm surprised by the amount of flatulence and the uncertainty of passing gas and what comes out; it's like the end of the bowel prep. Wondering when that will improve and hope it's soon. I've not added any protein to my liquids or jello, but that's because my husband was making everything for me and didn't know. I'm hoping that's the clue. I see the doctor for my first post-op visit tomorrow (day 5). Best of luck to you all as we continue this journey.
  7. I didn't see Bariatric Pantry among this, but maybe it's because they didn't provide free samples.

    Protein Shakes

Thanks for that tip; I'll get some and try it!

    Protein Shakes

It has a lot of carbs; it seems almost impossible to find a protein product without a lot of carbs that doesn't taste awful. Thanks for your help; I appreciate it much.
  10. I'm scheduled Dec 13th; Firday the 13th will have a whole new meaning from now on! Good luck to all!
  11. I haven't found a Protein supplement I like the taste of and am concerned about post-op. My surgery is the 13th, so I start my Clear liquids in just over a week. I was hoping to have something, I know I can handle before surgery. I've tried unjury, Optifast and Syntax nectar. I like sweet things, if that helps give anyone direction as to what I should try. One of the guys who works out recommended CytoSport Vanilla flavor, but that cost $44/bag and I hate to open it, given the cost.

    Protein Shakes

So far, I've not found any Protein supplements that are tolerable. I've tried Syntax peach nectar, unjury and GNC's Protein powder. I was told not to do Boost due to the carbs, but am concerned that I won't be able to find anything palatable prior to my surgery the 13th of December. Any suggestions?
