Food just isn't the same
I'm in week 6 and finally able to start trying out the foods I like to see if they sit well in my sleeve and am finding myself disappointed. Everything tastes different. I used to find joy in eating some foods because to me they were wonderful and delicious but now it seems everything is too sweet or too strong or too blah!! Does this end? Will it ever taste the same again?

How long after suegery will it take to care for yourself?
Can't drive while you're on Meds and that's really only thing you'll need help with. You will just need a comfy recliner to sleep in and lots of water and liquid protein choices.

Ladies "Tom" refuses to leave...
Seems you'd be getting to the point of iron deficiency. I'd call dr even if just to check

Lightheaded
I wasn't really able to eat much of anything, or even want to, until about 5 weeks. Everything made me pretty nauseaus. There's an egg custard recipe I've been making (found on bariatriceating.com) and it is really good and soft and stays down. I made 2 batches a week for a few weeks because scrambled eggs, Greek yogurt and cottage cheese just didn't set well with me. I also was able to eat apple oatmeal. My guide says not to add fruit to my diet until after 6 weeks so I'd be careful if you choose to do it.

- Not a happy, cheary post, be warned
So sorry for your loss and glad you went through with your surgery. Like you I didn't want to go through with the holidays as usual this year either. My 16 year old niece died in September and somehow it just doesn't feel right without her celebrating with our family but I have children to keep going for as you do. Your grand baby will be here soon and you'll be glad you took a rest now so that you have energy to spend time with it later. Sounds like you have a houseful and that's a blessing but they're old enough to be helping you. I'd create a chore list for each of my adult live in children and do what the other post said and order Christmas dinner brought in. Take your time and ease your body and mind through the changes that are happening. You have been through a ton and I wish you well.- Tofu spring roll
I had a tofu spring roll for the first time today and Oh My Lord was it good! So far I've tolerated it pretty well but I still have a seemingly unquenchible hunger. I want to try something and when I do Im still searching in my mind for something else for next time. Am I the only one like this?- TMI, bowel movements
Lol what are squatty potties? I've never heard of these- TMI, bowel movements
I wish I could go! I'm having to take laxatives to go and still nothing !- 11 months post op! before and after
Great post- Surgery 12/16
Using a hot pad on your abdomin will also help with the pressure. I'm 6 weeks out and still can't drink plain water. I add mio or SF Hawaiian punch flavoring to mine. I also got the sf Popsicles and they were a lifesaver.- Am I full? Help!
Redbean yes that's it.- Creamy Stage Day 1
A friend of mine told me to go to bariatric eating website and get the egg custard recipe and try it. I did and it was great for me. I wasn't able to eat eggs but the custard really felt good on my chest and stomach.- No leak test, no drain?
I was sleeved 11/11 and my dr does leak test while doing surgery and then I have 1 the next morning where I had to drink liquid and watch it go through me on screen and make sure it stays in stomach- Am I full? Help!
There's a recipe for egg custard on bariatriceating that I've been making weekly. It's delish and I can eat it unlike scrambled eggs still.- Hot tea
I'm loving my hot spices chai tea! It's great in the break room with coworkers. Nobody asks why I'm drinking it slowly and it's a great filler when I'm not eating. Also it's very calming at night and helps me with my insomnia.- Christmas - New Year Challenge
197.4 ! I surpassed my goal already!- Not consuming enough, help!
I'm almost six weeks post op and still can't even smell certain foods without gagging. I can't figure out what to eat because of it. I'm good with scrambled or fresh eggs but not egg whites. I'm also able to eat egg custard, chicken breast and chicken salad and cheese. My protein shakes are too sweet and turn my stomach and the premiere shakes are getting old and almost to the gagging point.today I ate 1/4 c. Egg custard, 3/4 premiere shake, 2oz chicken breast and 4 small diced cubes of cheese. I know I'm not consuming enough but have no imagination or time when it comes to food.i work 5:30 am- 6pm and am exhausted when I get off. Any help is appreciated.- Itching like crazy!
About the third day out I got hot flashes and sweat just pooled off of me. After that I got an itchy rash under my breast in my stomach fold and on my behind. I took Benadryl for a couple days and after about 2 weeks and many showers it just seemed to go away.- Rushed to hospital 5 days post op
Glad you trusted your intuition and had drs who listened! Hope a speedy and FULL recovery for you!- anybody else have gallbladder issues?
I'm only 5 weeks post sleeve and had an ultrasound before being sleeved that showed no stones. This past week for 2 days I had the same pain under my right ribcage radiating into my back. My dr said that because I haven't lost over 50 lbs he doesn't think it's my gallbladder. He thinks I'm having muscle spasms. I've lost 39 and don't agree with him. I asked for a gallbladder function test and am scheduled for it This Friday.- what am I missing?
Wow I hope they figure it out quickly- Are things tasting strange?
I can't drink the shakes I did pre sleeve. I tried deli meat with mustard today (a favorite) and I can't eat the mustard now! It's kind of depressing but is already worth it.- Question
I don't think dating life is easy for any single person that is actually looking for a relationship. I'm married but remember being divorced (previous marriage) with a baby and just going with the flow. It's hard because so many want an "instant" relationship without the dating! I get onto my daughter for that even now. Add in the texting and face timing you can get bored with each other before you ever really date! My advice: date old school. Make someone "try" to impress you and expect your door to be opened for you. Go out of the house on dates! Don't just "hang out" at first. Keep a distance between you so that when you hold hands, kiss or hug it's exciting. Real men want to be the man in the relationship and take care of their woman and I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. Good luck finding your soulmate. So glad I found mine. Ps yes I'm a mom! - Not a happy, cheary post, be warned
