So leaving the weightloss trend of my previous years and years of resolutions I've decided to change mine up a bit. I'm going with working toward financial freedom. (Being debt free).

What are you guys wearing when you go places? I can put on my jeans BUT my tummy doesn't like them! I have one pair of grey jogging pants that are oh so comfy but I can't wear them everyday! I guess I need to go buy at least another pair!

I've found that sometimes it's easier to talk to people you don't know this site has helped me mentally prepare for everything. Reading these forums has become almost addicting for me! But hey at least when I'm bored I'm reading and not feeding! Lol

Hi I was 12/16 and am curious for those of you around that date what you're eating. I am having Soups and just added in some eggs and cottage cheese. I probably pushed it a little today with 1/2 of a meatball and a piece of ham but those things went down easier than some cream soups I have had. Thoughts and how does this compare to what you all are eating and your doctor's suggested plan?
    Thanks!

Hi Kbee. I am a RYGB (surgery was last week on Dec 17th). I am on a three week liquid diet...protien drinks and hydrating fluids. So, on Christmas, my family is doing brunch (Crepes, fruit, bacon and sausage). I will be brining my protien shakes with me and that is that. I will sip, sip, sip away....as they eat all that NUMMY food. No choice, but I must stay on track and heal, heal, heal. Happy Holidays-Merry Christmas!

Ps I have lost 16kg (35 pounds for all you US people) since I first saw the surgeon about four months ago. Still a long way to go but you have to start banking the progress right and not look at the overall number you have to go?!

I'm a December sleever. I had my procedure done on the 11/12/13 - nice easy date to remember. I have to say two weeks in I am feeling pretty good but very sick of shakes and broth. Looking forward to moving to the next phase. What is everyone's strategies for getting through Christmas? Our family is ALL about food so it's going to be a big change for me not partaking in the feasting this year. Would love to hear what people are planning. I am reminding myself it's not about the food - it's about the people. Seasons greetings to everyone and good luck!

RDC....We have very similar numbers and info. I had surgery on the 17th too (RYGB). I left home at 293. I got back home from the hosptial 48 hours later and I was 14 (yes fourteen!!!!) pounds UP, weighing in at 307. This morning I am 297. So, that is 10 pounds of the 14 pounds gained due to surgery. These gasses (I was laproscopic) and water (IV bags times a zillion) really added up! I too feel like I will never see 300 ever again!!! Thank goodness for that! I am just excited to get back to my weight of 293 that I was at pre-surgery and THEN I will start to shake the other weight. I am doing great with all my liquid Protein Shakes, water, Vitamins and supplements. Where are you located? I am in Washington State...just north of Seattle about an hour or so. Take Care...Kari Jo (I'm losing it)

Hello all. I am 4 days Post op from RYGB. I am doing what I consider GREAT! I gained 14 pounds from surgery, all those gasses (laproscopic) and Water (tons of IV bags of fluid) really add up. Little by little I can tell that is exiting my body, then I should begin to lose the actual "weight". I am only sore in the abdomen area. I have had NO PAIN at at all. Just tenderness, soreness and when I first wake in the morning, I'd say my belly area is stiff. I did get a bit plugged up feeling yesterday and took some MOM (Milk of Magnesia sp?) and that worked like a charm. Everyone should keep that product on hand...just incase. I am doing my 2 oz of bariatric approved Protein Shake every hour and hydrating with zero caloried water and flavored drinkings in between. It's really hard to consume so much "food" (fluid) when you are NOT a bit hungry. I have had NO belly hunger and NO head hunger. It's been six days since I have "eaten" real food. I was thinking I'd be starving and dying for food and the hand to mouth function....I am not! So far, so good. Really looking forward to getting some of these extra surgery pounds offs, so the real LOSING can begin!!! Happy Saturday to all.

I'm losing it! reacted to terry1118 in what pain relief can you take after bypass
No nsaids EVER (Motrin, Advil, Aleve, which are ibuprofrin and naproxin). Because of the extremely high risk of ulcers, I believe. Anyone remember if there is another reason for it?

Happy to post..... When did you have surgery? I had surgery 11/18 and have felt like a new woman since, I had no problem eating and drinking whatsoever!!! Well, I hit a snag 2 nights ago ready for the 5-week phase, and had some crockpot chicken with mushroom sauce. Moist and mushy. Problem, I ATE TOO FAST AND DID NOT CHEW WELL. Got a little lax. It sat in the middle of my chest, making me uncomfortable til 3 pm yesterday, when I finally decided to eat 4 bites of yogurt. The yogurt apparently got stuck on the chicken lodged some where in there.
After 5 minutes of scary running around cant breathe panic call rescue mode, I felt it slide on down. I learned tonight at a meeting at the hospital this is common. So let my experience help you to eat slowly and know why you are eating slowly, and chew chew chew. My doctor said today we should be eating one meal a day and eat only when hungry. I have been overeating. Because I have been doing so well. Stay by the rules!!!!!!!
    Merry Christmas.....

Hi there. I have no intention to attack you and I certainly NO ONE would on this tool/link. We should all be a support to each other. I had the lap band for 7 years. I no longer have it and I am doing RYGB in 5 days. I am guessing you are "tight" with your current fill now. Perhaps that is what is making your not being able to take Vitamins the issue? I am guessing you might be having issues with either the size or the texture (dryness) of the pills themselves? An option would be to go liquid or chewable/gummy. Check with your doctor on your options. I would say drink TONS OF Water even more that you might be already. If you are 200 pounds drink half your body weight in Water daily, in oz....so 100 oz. You can convert that
to accomodate your current weight. That water will help you in the hunger deptartment. Also, if you think you are stressed (which it sounds as though you are), try to do something to lighten your stress level. sleep, walk, talk, type on here, journal, volunteer, chew gum etc. it may be that you are just so frustrated and stressed that everything is tight and swollen inside and your band is responding that way. I hope this passes soon and you get the benefits from the band/tool that you are expecting...
