Way to go on all the yoga -- your body is changing a lot and the weight will drop -- meanwhile you'll be so healthy and toned! 1.5 per week is just what I have as a goal. The closer we are, of course, the slower the loss. But I think it's better this way. One of the things I wanted from the band was a healthy loss, not drastic with all the loose skin, falling out hair, etc. There is so much mental adjustment learning my new lifestyle, not hyper focusing on food all the time and enjoying exercise, not beating myself up, etc. It's probably good that it takes a little time.

I have been having a lot of frustration because I haven't seen movement on the scale in the past few weeks. I have been going yoga consistently 3-4 times a week. I posted a couple of weeks ago and people suggested that I track all of my calories. I have been doing this for the last two weeks and I have FINALLY lost 3 pounds. The good news that I have now lost 17 1/2 inches.
My "AH HA" moment.... I have finally realized that in order to reach my goal by the end of the year, I only need to lose 1.5 pounds a week. I have been expecting too much from the surgery. I knew when I got it that I would be a TOOL to lose weight and not a miracle cure. I have always been the type to want results "overnight" but I'm slowly realizing that it takes a lot of work and the scale will eventually catch up.

When I think of where we all started I am proud of not dropping the scale...as long as it isn't up all is good.
Time will bring our own goals....
    Cheers!

Of course. One pound of fat is roughly 3,500 calories so its definitely possible if you're putting in good nutrition and exercise.

I've hit a standstill too, although I haven't gained any weight so taking that as a minor win. Reckon the losses will kick in again once I've had a fill and its tightened up a bit

Good morning, all! I had my post-op visit yesterday with the nurse, and she said everything looked great (I was banded on 1/10/14). I finally found out where my port was!
I am still losing weight, albeit more slowly, and am really trying to watch what I eat, although the nurse said that a weight gain is fine at this point. She said the main idea is to heal. Right now, I've lost a little over 23 lbs.
She also moved me off mushy foods and onto soft foods - yay! I'll stay on those until the 31st, and then get to move to regular foods. I've decided to make this my week for really planning my diet in the weeks ahead, so I'm sorting through recipes and making my grocery list. I feel like this is a whole new life for me!
My first appointment for a fill is on February 18th - I asked that it be after the weekend of the 14th because I will be out of town at a business retreat, and will be eating out a lot, so I figured that would be easier.
Hope everyone here is doing well!

Bandista, you are doing a fantastic job. I think it's only normal to feel frustration at times. I think we have all been there. In the 3.5 months I've been banded, I've cried at least twice and had several pity parties. But, I am the happiest I've ever been with respect to my health and my well being over all. Think about where you are compared to where you were. Keep in mind why you choose this path. Eyes on the prize, my friend! We got this!

I am one week post-op today! Everything has gone really well, thank goodness.
My gas pain wasn't especially bad until the last 2 days (you would think it would get better). I have been living on gasx and the heating pad. Please tell me it subsides soon.
Down 12 lbs since my pre-op diet! Pretty darn excited about that!

Sooo.... 6 days after banding. Physically I feel a lot better. I am up and moving, going to the store, went to school on Friday. I'm still sore when I sit up or drive for a long period of time. The port site is tender. Mentally is another story. I don't want this stinkin liquid diet! I want to eat what everyone else is eating!! That was my feel sorry for me rant.
I am proud of myself. Yesterday I was with two people that wanted McDonalds, I was driver and took them through it without getting anything. Then today I took someone else McDonalds per their request and just got a drink. I had the drink (frappe') for lunch while he had a meal. I didn't even finish the frappe' which in the past has not usually happened. Those were both situations when I could have given in, but didn't, not even a french fry. I told myself I might as well as get used to no french fries, b/c they are not part of my food choice future. There are so many food related trials I am going through every minute of every day. I'm getting through them, but I did not think the mental part of this would be as difficult as it is. I'm still trudging through and I will be so happy to see the physician on Monday to get the okay to eat regular foods. By the way I think Muscle Milk the chocolate 100 calorie kind is yucky!!! I'm really like the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury brand for Protein shakes the chocolate, chocolate supreme and strawberry sorbet have been awesome!

Had my surgery yesterday & am doing fairly well today. It's funny how much I think about food now post surgery.
Everything went really well before & after surgery. I was actually asking if I could go home b4 they were telling me it was time to go. I used ice packs at gone & my pain meds & am doing well. Glad to be on this side Finally!

Many bandster's underestimate the trauma done to our bodies during surgery.
So I'm sorry to be too graphic here but remember, someone filled your body cavity full of gas, they pumped fluids, medications, antibiotics and anesthesia into your body. They punched 5 holes in your abdomen, moved all your inner body parts around, shoved a tube down your throat, took an electric scalpel and burned away excess fat and tissue wrapped around your upper stomach, the surgeon then wrapped a plastic strap around your stomach just below the lower esophogeal sphincter, stitched it in place with 5-6 sutures bringing your lower stomach up and over the band suturing the band in place and then snaked a tube out of your body and then sewed another plastic piece to the muscle tissue on your rib cage
I know we were all told this was a minimal invasive surgery, but it's still very traumatic to a group of organs that have lived the good life for years and years.
