  1. Taylor, Sorry to hear you are having a rough time right now *hug*. Have you started exercising? Are you journalling your foods? Writing them down and actually seeing the calorie content you are consuming can sure slap you in the face sometimes (I use the daily plate - free online). I'm losing, slowly, but I am and during the times that it doesn't seem like I am losing I take my measurements and will sometimes notice a change there. Have you been tracking your measurements?
  2. Even as a little kid I was on the chubbier side but it didn't really strike until I was around grade 4 (9 I think) I was definitely one of the heavier kids (also taller kids) in my small elementary school. BUT I was an active kid, in Grade 7 (12 I think) I was on the soccer team, volleyball team, basketbal team, did track and field and played rugby at lunch. I wasn't a lazy kid, but I hit puberty with a vengance when I was 11 and by the time I was in high school (13) I had DDD breasts and was about size 16 or so (I remember being in grade 9 and shopping at cotton ginny plus, one of the ONLY plus size stores in Canada at the time and the clothes were horrible). By the time I graduated high school I was no longer active as my breasts were about a H cup (I had a breast reduction at 19 where I went from a H to a C/D, 10 lbs taken off) and I was about a size 20/22. I had various hormone tests done but nothing ever came back as being off so who knows. I have not been thin, ever. So when people say that phrase "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" I'm sure they are right but I don't know how "thin feels" so I can't relate.
  3. Woo hoo! That's awesome. Congrats
  4. Oh my gosh! Was it a smaller plane? Cuz something tells me one 500 lb guy on a 747 wouldn't make that much difference. How embarrasing for the poor fellow. Granted I haven't flown as often as some but I've NEVER had to put my arm rests down on a flight. I didn't even realize that this was supposedly a "law". Interesting. I too have had the occasional flight that was almost empty and got to sprawl acrsos all 3 seats - no one said a thing.
  5. I LOVE THE NEW PIC! BBK, looking fantastic.
  6. The place that has the aquafit Water aerobics is actually the YMCA so I would have full access to their facility if I joined up with them and it's the same price as Curves ($46 a month). Thank you for all the input and advice, I love to hear it. I'm going to dig out my swimsuit, shave my legs (lol) and give aquafit a couple test drives see what I think and make my decision from there. I cant afford to join until I can end my Curves membership (June 16) so I have plenty of time to do a couple of drop in's at the Y ($5.75 drop in fee).
  7. I'm going to do a couple drop in's to the aqua fit to see if I enjoy it as much as I think I might. Membership to there also includes membership to their entire facility/all programs - so there's the weights, treadmill, etc but it is coed so I'd have to get past my issues with that lol. Yah I've only gone to Curves 1x this week *sigh*. Unfortunately Curves is the only ladies only gym in my town.
  8. Over the past years I have donated a bunch of clothes to a local women's transition house - perhaps they have something like that in your area.
  9. Hahaha, awesome. I say you keep them til he figures it out
  10. Dr. Woodhead in Delta is my surgeon and he is fabulous. His cost is $14,000 (+$400 for first consult), this includes the cost of aftercare fills. I believe that currently his wait times to be expected are approximately 1 month to get consult and then 1-2 months (closer to 1 I believe) to get surgery.
  11. Interesting... maybe when I'm skinny I wont need contacts anymore haha that'd be awesome. Time will tell I guess. hehe. Grats on your skinny eyeballs!
  12. I can't answer your question as I'm only a couple of months post op but .... I can tell you that 60lbs in a year is a great start and with your band getting refilled it's a great time to get back on track. Maybe start journaling your foods to get the hang of things again? YOU CAN DO THIS!!! *HUG* You had a set back now you are back up on the horse and you can give-er. Take it one day at a time. You're doing great.
  13. Holy cow! That is quite the difference - I too would have thought that Rice Crispies would be worse...
  14. Yah it is - it's nice to be able to search your foods from VARIOUS different brands on dailyplate and have them there - fitday you have to enter pretty much EVERYTHING. I am a former fitday user and when I found the dailyplate I jumped fitday ship like it was going down.
  15. Heh, my pleasure. I knew a guy friend that did it for a few months and was quite successful and he didn't mind the taste however my fiance tried some of the (LOTS of) left over stuff I had after I quit (probably $150 worth) and he could barely get it down too. Eventually I just threw it out but yah, if someone does want to do Medifast I do HIGHLY recommend getting a sample pack first before investing a lot of $$ into it. Everyone's tastes are different but in my opinion... yeck lol
  16. Hehe I don't have the tall issue as I am only 5'7" but I have hard that Curves doesn't work so good for the taller ladies. I don't mind the other people in a circle thing and actually the time that I go is after I get of work around 4:45pm so it's not super busy then but it's just ... I don't know what it is that I really don't like going to it. Aquafit = water aerobics yup, same thing. There are a couple of places here that offer it - one has a better schedule I could do it every day of the week if I so chose to.
  17. Hey all! I have been a member of Curves for what I think is a year as of May (I have to check my paperwork) and of that year that I have been a member I spent 90% of it not going. I've only started going 3-4x a week for the past 3 or so weeks. I hated it before and I hate it now. I like the concept of the circuit training with all women but in general I just really dislike it. So far I am not one of those people that gets a lot out of exercise and leaves feeling fantastic and pumped up. I leave feeling like I've just wasted 1/2 hr of my life I could be doing ANYTHING else. REALLY, truly dislike it, and over the past month of doing it - still hasn't gotten any better. So here is my question - at the weight that I am at currently now - would I benefit more from something like Curves or something like Aquafit? Granted I havent been to Aquafit in years but I plan to do a drop in to see if I like it still... but I love swimming and I love Water. So why not do both you ask? Well, I can't afford to do both and pay my self-pay band payments at the same time. It's one or the other and I have to decide in the next couple of weeks if I am going to continue with my Curves membership for the next year or what ( you're locked in for a year). If I do drop the Curves and go Aquafit the membership for Aquafit also includes membership use to all their gym facilities (treadmills etc) however at this moment a co-ed gym kind of freightens me! Let me know what you think! Much love as always, Ang
  18. Woo hoo! Keep up the great work You're doing fantastic.
  19. I tried Medifast and didn't even make it through a month - that stuff is NASTY. Every time I had to eat I had to force myself, the taste, the smell... However, welcome back, and good luck with whichever route you go! You can do it. :wink2:
  20. Grats to all you guys and your new NSV's how wonderful! Jtag - I only just got to read this now and I'm sorry that loser stood you up - better off without 'em in my opinion, truly his loss! Keep your head up girl!
  21. Interesting, buffets are not very common up in the area that I live but it would be curious to know if they did do that. I can't justify paying $20+ a plate when I'm eating maybe $5 of that. But like I said, thankfully we don't have buffets here.
  22. Good luck Puddin! You can do this. How frustrating that must have been to hear that from the doctor. I found during my "non restriction" time without having a fill that was working for me that the best thing I could do was log/journal my food. Good luck!
  23. I was just going to ask what the obesity death rate was. *big hug* I can't say that I understand what you feel because surgery for some reason doesn't scare me (granted I've never had open heart surgery but I have had a couple surgeries prior to my band). Just go over and over in your mind why you are doing this and before you know it you will be waking up in recovery with a smile. Hang in there.
  24. Just to comment on #1 and 3 - I actually didn't have a preop diet, I did some slimfast / sensible dinners - sort of for a couple weeks before my surgery and lost 5lbs but after surgery it took me days to actually have to poo and when I did I wasn't even backed up. TMI I know haha. And to # 3 - just hehehe maybe. Well I did my own preop smarter eating diet and lost 5 lbs BUT I had a bad case of the "last supper syndrome" and between knowing I'd be getting it for sure and waiting for surgery date I easily gained 15+ lbs. *sigh* so I'd be counted in that category of a poll lol. What you said about the empty stomach before surgery does makes sense ... although I've never had to have that (besides the no food/drink after midnite on day of surgery thing) with any of my surgeries, interesting to know though - thankfully I don't have anesthesia issues and it doesn't make me sick/diarrhea at all. Good to know for others though.
  25. Fantastic! Girl you are looking great. 3 cheers for you!!!
