  1. awww! Thank you for asking. Step One went great. She is all for it. Already took some blood just to do my normal yearly check up. And did an ekg. Told me to go to the seminar before even seeing the sergion. She has already have me using WW. And it was very cool my nurse who whas taking my blood preasure and all that good stuff had Bypass done six years ago. And she was telling my how great it was. So it was cool to have a nurse to have an idea of what I would be going through. Thank you again for asking. Like I said earlier. I am loving this board. Everyone is so supportive!!
  2. I was just going through the board again. It dawned on me that here and there people mention dieting before the banding and pre op liquid diet. Is this normal? What is the reason for this? Does every sergion what something differnt or is this a general rule of thumb. And what is the purpose? To cleane your system out. I thought I read something about the liver. Any info would be helpful. I haven't talk a sergion yet still doing my foot work. Go to the seminar next week. Loving this board! It has been a God sent. Thanks:clap2:
  3. I am not banded yet but I will be go to St. Agnis. Not sure what Dr. that will be eather Singh or Averbach. Any info you can give me on them would be great. What ins did you use. I have cigna and I am hearing it will be 6 month long walk *sigh* I would be glad to be part of the Maryland support. I can't weight to have it done!!
  4. my ins is going to pay everything except$350.00, but it looks like I am going to have to go through a few hurdles.
  5. Just wondering what ins you have, If you don't mind me asking. Did you have to follow a nutritionist diet?
  6. :thinkAlright I have Cigna and I have my dr. appt tomarrow with my pcp dr. I am reading more and more about having to see a nutritionist and being on a supervised diet for 6 mths. Oh please tell me this is not always the case. I have been on a diet my whole life. I have been on and read the following ww, adkins, 3 hr diet, dr. phil, curves. Bob Greens Best life diet, Biggest Looser. i have been on all of them . I was a member of curves and actully went for a year. I am member of our local gym and actully go three times a week and some weeks more then that. They all help me loose ten or 15 lbs but then it slows down to a pound or two a month and I don't have the will power to stick to it, if I don't see results after a while. Working out helps me with keeping me active and I credit that to why I can be so over wieght but still do the things I do. But I will cry if they ask me to go on another diet for 6 month just to loose 10 of the same pounds in order for me to get banded. I can tell you every thing there is to know about nutrition.
  7. Hi, I just wanted to jump in here and let you know that we are in a very similar boat. I have my first Dr. appt Friday, I have to start with my MD because of ins rules. I also will be going to St agnes. I am 44, no health issues, but want to get this weight off before it happens. Family History tells me it will. I am an exsmoker and am 120 lbs over weight. Just wanted to say HI
  8. Well I am glad everything is ok. I don't have my band yet. I am just beginning this Journey. I comb this forum daily, for all the info I can. Can't wait until the day comes. Again glad you are ok

  11. Hi all I join yesterday made my mind up last week to get banded. I have to get a referal from my MD. I know that won't be a problem, because she suggested bypass last year but I wouldn't even think about it. I am need to loose a 110- 120 lbs. I already talked to my insurance company and they told me some of the stuff I will need to do. So hopefully it will all go quickly. I am so excited. I have never had anything like this done. The only time I have been in the hospital is to have my son. I was in and out in 24 hrs I had it in the back of my mind maybe 5 days down and that would be it. Now after reading everything. I will plan for longer and if it is sooner good for me. I have my dr appt Friday....STEP 1
  12. Thanks for both of your replys. I am using my ins. I called them first after I did all my research and weighed all the pros and cons and try and try to lose on my own. My ins told me I have to have to talk to shrink and a list of all my 101 attempts to loose. She told me my first step is my Dr. So four more Days.
  13. My son who is only 20 lbs over weight has them and they seem to go and down sometime more noticable then others. When gets tired of them and starts do push up and and upper work out with dumbbells and seems to help alot. Let me tell you nothing makes a Mom madder the hell when your son comes home and tells you that this jerk or that was making fun of your moobs. So I feel your pain.
  14. I am new to the board and to Lapband. I have just desided to have it done. I have an appointment with my MD friday, to get the ball rolling. I read on here that one guy see his surgeon last sept and will be having the lapband done in Aug. Is that normal I was hoping a couple months. Any other info anyone wants to share will be nice. Like what steps will I be looking at in the next few months? Do I have to go to the seminars? I am very excited and a little scared.:whoo:
