Protein!
Premier chocolate, Matrix mint cookie, and Syntha-6 chocolate Peanut Butter or chocolate mint. I go easy on the Syntha-6 though, it's higher in calories than the others.

I would not consider YOU a successful WLS patient!
If it feels right, then you belong! There's a big difference between saying that the surgery didn't give you the most ideal result (ie, you're still having health issues) and saying you're a failure at the surgery, because you sure as hell aren't. You took a chance, did the very best you could with the hand you were dealt, and saved your own life.

4 months post op and...
I'm sorry, no advice - just a hearty congratulations and a wish for things to work out for you!

What shocks you now that you were able to eat in a sitting?
I was a once or maybe twice a day eater, but I'd power down a meal meant for a family of 4 in one go. It's still a hard habit to break, to get into the habit of ingesting something on the regular. Now I'm scared of becoming a nibbler!

Eggs and stages
Jealous! Surprisingly, we're actually allowed to have chickens in the city here but I'm pretty sure my landlord would lay an egg herself if she found one in the yard, lol. I ended up being lazy and just going with refried Beans, but eggs are still on the agenda

Anybody having surgery the 24th of Nov? What a countdown buddy?
jacqbult, I'm so sorry! That's heartbreaking. {{hugs}} I lost pretty fast at first (probably because I didn't have a pre-op diet), but slowed down this week and stalled for a couple of days. Protein is going down much better, but I can't seem to keep up with fluids! Anyone feel like you're actually seeing a physical difference yet? Sometimes I think I do, sometimes not so much.

What did you say?!
I'm so sorry, I didn't MEAN to laugh at this, but if it helps it was an incredulous laugh! Congratulations on your success (and you have a beautiful dog, btw)

Yoga's harder than it looks!
It's crazy how hard some of the easy LOOKING stuff is! Good for you for getting out there and trying it - that's awesome . I know when I tried bellydancing I was all, "oh, how hard can shaking your hips be?". Thought I'd die, lol.

Eggs and stages
Consistency, ptooey! Who needs it? I might give it a wing tonight but stay close to a bucket

Eggs and stages
It sounds like most of us have eggs on our puree plan. I know mine specifies "scrambled", but I'm wondering how the rest of you treat eggs during this stage. I'd love a hard boiled or deviled egg right now but I'm not sure how big of a difference the texture makes.

8 days post op
Not sleeping much either, but finally down to waking up once/night now instead of half a dozen! I definitely don't have your energy yet, though - care to share?

My stomach is numb
I've got some numb spots now - and still have some from a surgery I had like 14 years ago! Some of it might clear up, some might not.

Breakthrough acid on Protonix
Thanks! If it keeps happening, I'll have to talk to the doc.

It's over
If I need a revision, I'm doing it at YOUR hospital! {{hugs}} So glad you made it through okay

Breakthrough acid on Protonix
I've been on Protonix since I was in the hospital, but this morning I started having breakthrough acid. Maybe longer and that's why I thought I was getting hungry, but it was definitely recognizable this morning. I topped off with some Tums so it didn't get too bad, but I'm curious to know whether anyone had better luck with other PPI's (and which ones). My intake wasn't unusual this morning - 8 ounces of Premier Protein and roughly 8 ounces of decaf tea.

OMG The stomach pain!
I had stomach spasms the first few days when drinking - it hurt like a beast. I'm 2 weeks out and it's pretty much stopped, but when I do feel it, it's nowhere near as bad. Playing around with the temperature of your liquids might help - room temperature was all I could handle the first few days. Someone on here mentioned being put on something for it, but I don't remember who or what. Def. follow up with your surgeon, if that's really all it is they might be able to help! Hope you're feeling better soon!

Water Bottle + Other Recommendations?
I use salad plates or those little snack sized ziplock bowls with lids for everything right now (on purees), and I LOVE those little plastic baby spoons. They probably look ridiculous but I eat a lot slower with them. Still looking for that elusive perfect reusable cup myself, but one of my go-to's is a 16 ounce Cool Gear cup that looks like a soda can. It's dishwasher safe and there's no straw. Good luck - if you find something you love, come back and let us know!

Complaining here...
That's awesome! I'll keep that in mind if I start having the same issues. Last night I messed up, but it wasn't as awful as I expected. I tried the ricotta bake, and I don't know if I ate it too fast, or ate too much, or if I'm just not ready for cheese yet but it went down and came right back up. I was terrified of vomiting, but this was more like, well, a productive burp. Still not trying to do it again, lol.

NSVs at 3weeks!
That's awesome!

Complaining here...
Just thought I'd share - I had my 2 week follow up today. Fully dressed, my official loss for these 2 weeks is 20 pounds even (at home, in my undies, it's 22 - but I'm not counting that). Aside from getting my coat zipped (a pretty huge NSV since I'm so cold my bones hurt now), I achieved my first two weight related goals. The first, achieved while in the hospital, was to fall below 300. My second was to hit 280, because it's officially 50 pounds down from my highest weight ever. That might not belong on a ticker, but it's still fun to track since I started Atkins at 330, dropped to 300 a couple of years ago, and stayed in the same spot until surgery. Edited to add: And 3 people have already commented on a difference in my face!!!

Complaining here...
@@atl921 and @@haleytrim, I'm so sorry you're both feeling bad! Hopefully one of the further-outs will have a good answer for you. I have been quite fortunate not to have much nausea. Could your doc prescribe something like Zofran to you? Maybe just getting it under control once will help get you on an even keel again. I had a prescription for 30 but apparently they're expensive and the insurance company only lets the pharmacy dole out 6 at a time ::eyeroll::.

Pain
Day 13, off pain meds for 8 days, and it's nap-'o'-clock right now . Must...Finish...Work...

Day 6 Post-op ...Gosh I hope today is better
I'd just say start really slow. My surgeon's office has this ridiculous sample phase 2 meal plan that shows 3 shakes and 3 meals (up to about 7 tablespoons). I started phase 2 this weekend, and couldn't get more than 2 tablespoons in the whole day - but I met goal for liquids AND Protein for the first time! It's like not being on all shakes and broth made me suddenly stop feeling like a patient. If you're ready to move up, just try a little at a time and play it by ear. Good luck!

Post Op Staples
My last surgery, the staples were removed at about 2 weeks. For the sleeve, they glued me together!
