  1. I recently converted to Duodenum switch from the sleeve. I had the sleeve surgery back in 2013 and lost about 50lbs and have gained most of it back along with developing a hiatal hernia as well. I am on my 7th day post-op and I have done full liquids but I am really wanting to move to semi-soft pureed foods. Has anyone done that before they were suppose to and did you do ok? My thoughts are the staples in my stomach are already healed since that part was completed 2 yrs ago. I only have the switch of the intestines this time. Please give any advice or information I can view on this. Thanks in advance.
  2. What is the difference in single anastomoses vs double anastomoses and Is there difference in the weight loss
  3. yes Catherine, mine can be that way too, it is unpredictable. thank for the info though, it is helpful.
  4. that's when I weigh myself too, in the morning. otherwise I know it would fluctuate.
  5. It's funny how some of my weight loss happens. One day I can weigh say 210 and the next day I can weigh 208, same thing happened when the scale said 206 it happened in one day's time. Is this possible to lose 2 pounds in a days time? Not that I am complaining at all, just was wondering if this was happening to anyone else? I have a habit of trying to weigh myself everyday or every other day. I am trying to go back to weighing weekly. Is this happening to you???
  6. I think it is normal to start getting some hunger back, I have days where I feel hungry to but not as much as before the surgery. But still be conscious of what you are eating. I try to make healthy choices, but remember you can only eat but so much, my signal for being full is getting pain in the stomach as I swallow. then I know I have eaten enough.

    Hair Loss please help

You are not by yourself, I am 3 months post op and losing a lot of hair too. They say it don't last forever, it will slow down. Keep doing what you are doing with the protein and vitamins. I know it is frustrating, but hang in there. It will get better for us
  8. thanks for reassurance, I thought I remember them saying I would some hair loss, but the way it is coming out I thought maybe that was more than the normal. thanks again
  9. I am 3 months post op, I take my Vitamins and Biotin faithfully and I have just started to notice the last 3 days my hair is starting to fall out, especially after I shower and brush through it, it comes out in strands. Is this normal if with all the vitamins I take. does anyone else have this problem and how long does it go on. Help me please with advice, this is scary for me. thanks for any thoughts.
  10. Oct 1st here too - my story is similar to yours, I was banded in 2011 and didn't lose much at all and then started having issues with reflux so I decided to convert either to bypass or the sleeve. Didn't know for a long time which one I wanted but I am glad I decided to go with the sleeve, so far I have lost 41lbs, more than I ever did with the band. How is your weight loss going thus far?

    Bypass vs sleeve

Hi, I was confused as you are for a while, because I have friends that have had the bypass and then some with the sleeve. They both are doing well but I have to say the deciding factor for me was the fact that the sleeve does let you eat anything you want without the dumping and you know when enough is enough without overeating. I had my sleeve surgery Oct 1st and I have gone from 252lbs to 213lbs. I am very pleased with my results so far and I don't at all regret this decision. Everyone loses at a different pace, so don't base your weight loss on others. My surgeon assured me that within the 2 year mark, I would be at the same weightloss as a bypass patient. Feeling good about that helped my decision as well. If you are diabetic the bypass may be the way to go because it puts diabetes in remission. I was not diabetic so that helped my decision also. I hope this helps you. But you will make the right decision. Happy New Year!
  14. I had surgery Oct 1st. I would like to hear from anyone that had surgery that same day and how your progress is going. I have lost 33 lbs. I feel like I should have lost more at this point. I am trying to do all the right things..protein, exercise, etc. I do feel sometimes I am hungry but I know it's head hunger. Thanks for any input you can give with telling me your story.
