I am back. Was not able to get back on the sure for awhile. December 19,2013 will be my 4 month anniv. I am down 70 lbs and is just starting to feel fabulous. Went from size 20 down to 12. This life change has run me for a loop still not eating as much. How great is this. For the holidays I did not eat like there was no tomorrow. food was not an issue for me. I am learning to walk away. Started at 255 and now I am down to 185.

    At my heaviest 255

    Current 185

Well I've been up almost all night scared as shit. I have a headache and have been dreaming about amazing food. I don't even know how to cook lol. This headache better leave my body with all the negative thoughts. Surgery is at 2:30 pm. Send your positive energy this way and to all of todays sleevers. I can't thank everyone enough, if it wasn't for all of your support I don't know how I would have made it this far. ***hugs***

I believe word meaning and choice are important, and cheating is the wrong word here.
It's only cheating if you do it to try to win. Failing to study for a test is not called cheating. Getting the answers ahead of time is cheating, because you will do better than you deserve because of your behavior or actions. There is no benefit to you for failing to follow your surgeon's plan. It would be cheating if it helped you lose weight faster or otherwise gave you a better outcome. What you are doing won't help you in any way, even if it doesn't hurt you. This is not cheating. It is putting yourself at risk. Playing chicken with your health. Call it risky behavior, not cheating.

Angela, I am so proud of you for not accepting being morbidly obese. I cannot imagine being twice my size but I do know how you must feel because being overweight is treated so indifferent by this generation who live healthy lifestyles. Like me you decided you were going to do something about your weight. I know how hard it was to decide to do it the way you did. My prayer is that you will acheive your wildest dream come true weightloss wise. I am going to bat for you. May you also be surrounded by enormous support in every stage of this venture till you get to your healtiest goal weight. Bless you Angela
May All your dreams come true for you

Oh I know how you are feeling! I started at 450, or plus. I a really actually don't know know how much I weighed. When I first started to diet I was too big to be weighed on any scales I had, or my dr. office had. So I just say 450. By the time I had my first appointment with my surgeon I weighed 422 so I had lost over what I estimate as around 30 lbs (that took 7 months). My surgeon then let me know that he would not perform surgery until I lost another 75 lbs. I felt so defeated. Even though I understood why he wanted me to lose I still thought it was silly. I mean I had to lose weight to have weight loss surgery? Really? I left feeling very defeated, and down. LIke it was never going to happen. I mean it took me 7 months to lose 30 lbs. I now have to lose that two more times, and then 15 after that! I thought it would take me a good year and half. However, that day I also met with a nutritionist who put me on a high Protein, low carb diet. I was very restricted on what I could and could eat and drink! But it worked. I lost 30 lbs the first month! And within 3 months I was ready for surgery! I have now lost almost 170 lbs in a year! This time last year I would have never thought I would have lost 75 lbs, not alone almost a hundred pounds more than that! You can do it. It may be hard, but it's VERY doable!.

Thank you everyone! My school is extremely strict and this is a 6 week class. I think you're all right, I need to speak to my doctor to figure out what I can do. =]

I was approved for surgery in August of this year but I just started a new position at work and didn't want to take off yet so I pushed it back and was recently sleeved. Is there away you can delay it until spring break to allow yourself time to recoup a little? I know you may not want to but unfortunately you do not know how your body will react to the procedure so you should allow yourself some time.

It's an individual choice that each person has to decide on based on their own personal preferences. As for me I'm an open book. I had my surgery 2 days ago and announced it to FB yesterday. The response and support has been phenomenal and I have inbox messages and texts from people who are considering the surgery or already had it. However that is my story and my choice in approaching the matter. It's what works for me. You should do what is best for you and if that means remaining private than so be it.

I'm an open book too. I'm really proud of myself for making this difficult decision and have no problem sharing it with anyone who wants to know. I just started working with a personal trainer at the Y and I told her what I was planning to do. Today I saw her and she introduced me to someone who was also having the surgery, so I made a friend there. I also feel that if I share my story with others it hopefully will educate people and even better, I hope that I can help someone else by sharing my experience. But I totally understand the desire to keep it private, especially where gossip is involved.

    Hello December Sleevers..
I'm finally checking in. I've been really just chillin and relaxin. All is well. Surgery went well with no issues at all. Had a few gas pains, but I was up and walking around the nurses station just a few hours after surgery. Both my night nurse and day nurse had the sleeve done, so it was nice to have knowledgeable caretakers. They told me, the more I walked the better I'd feel and guaranteed I would leave the hospital feeling much better and without gas pains. It was true. Gas dissipated rapidly.
I haven't really needed the pain meds at all. A bit sore at first but even that is subsiding. I had a bit of an issue on Wednesday keeping my fluids down but that has passed too and now I'm doing well with it and getting in my Protein too. Mostly, shakes, cream of chicken Soup (strained) and Vitamin Water. The hardest part so far is pacing myself with the water because I'm so thirsty and I want to chug it.
I haven't been on the scale yet, don't plan to get on one until next Thursday at my 1st post-op appt. I hope everyone did well on their surgeries this week, and good luck to those with upcoming dates. It truly was a very easy process. No drains. No nausea. No major pain.

Okay. So I'm post op day 3. I still have trouble getting liquids down and gas pain. I pop gas x like its candy! I've been only able to drink 1/2 of Isopure. I hope to finish it today though. I stole the incentive spirometer from the hospital to keep working on the deep breathing. I'm trying to keep walking around my apartment and keep the incisional pain under control. I'm an Ob/gyn and have to go back to work on Sunday... Mistake #1. I hope I'm feeling a little better by then. Warmer liquids are easier to get down than cold ones. Sometimes when I move I get a sharp pain that makes me think "what the hell did I do to myself" and regret the whole thing! But I know I need to push forward and the pain doesn't last for long!

My surgery was yesterday. I'm feeling very sore and I had a lot of gas pain but that is getting better as I am now getting out of bed and walking. I slept a lot yesterday. I do remember feeling drunk and asking everyone did they get a good night sleep before surgery but that's about all I can remember. Hope everyone is doing well.
