Sometimes you have to laugh at yourself...
So, for the past month or so I've been taking these gummy bite type of calcium and multivitamins. Each day that I take them I have to remind myself that they're NOT CANDY! lol Especially when I'm hungry, I'm so tempted to eat more than one, but I don't, I promise you! lol I laugh at myself each time because the greedy side of me comes out! lol

So Frustrated With Healthcare.gov...ugh!
Thanks Tropical! Since that post I have upgraded to one of the new Horizon BCBS of NJ plans that will in fact cover the surgery. If I didn't do that, I would have had to wait until April 1 which is when my current plan would renew and it would be the one year I needed to be eligible to have any pre-existing conditions covered. Originally HBCBSNJ was not going to renew that plan, but I recently got a letter stating that since President Obama had promised us that we could keep our current health coverage, they decided to allow the policies to be renewed. I didn't want to take any chances, so I went ahead and got one of the new policies. It's way more money, but when I file me taxes in February, I'll be able to apply for a subsidy (which will lower the cost). One more week of pre-op stuff in January, then I can submit!

Chicken/Beef Broth or Stock?
Thanks Laura! I was cleaning out my freezer (it was already basically empty lol) and I found some chicken pieces, so I boiled them and seasoned them, refrigerated it, skimmed any fat off the top and strained it to get any little pieces out. Perfect broth! I put it in a container and in the freezer it will be until I need it. I also have some chicken bouillon cubes/powder and today I bought a few containers of beef broth, and beef and chicken stock. So hopefully, something will satisfy me.

Chicken/Beef Broth or Stock?
Does it matter which one we consume post-surgery? The only difference I see is that stock has double the protein (4 grams). My plan says broth, but I was wondering if it really mattered. I'm stocking up on post-surgery items and bought mostly broth, but one chicken and beef stock as well.

Lovenox....YIKES!
I know it's a shot that you have to inject yourself with to prevent blood clots. Is this standard procedure? I don't know if I could do this.

Yummy low calorie, fat free caramel mocha
I'm in Southern NJ and just bought two bottles yesterday from a discount store (Ollie's), caramel and hazelnut...$1.99 a bottle. I'm pre-op, so I cleaned out my cupboards, freezer and fridge and stocking up on post-op goodies.

loose skin
Dry brushing before you take a shower/bath helps too. Moisturize with Almond oil and Castor oil combo.

First Week Post Op
WOW, that WAS quick! Glad you're doing well. You are the same height and about the same pre-surgery weight as me. Good luck in the days to come. Happy recuperating!

Got naked, nobody died of shame...
You guys are soooooooo NASTY, and I LOVE it! lol Seriously though, since I'm not in a relationship right now (on purpose), I've been pushing my naughty feelings down deep so I can dig them up later. I really need to start taking care of me first before I let someone in again, and based on what you guys are saying, IT'S GONNA BE GOOD! lol "Let's get it on, let's get it on...." (singing to myself:)

HELP! Carnation instant breakfast?
Carnation Instant Breakfast drink (no added sugar) is listed as one of the approved liquids (pre-and post ops) on my list, but it is not intended as a substitution for the protein shake.

Switching Insurance
Ok, all set with insurance. I decided to stay with Horizon for 3 more months. I switched to a new 2014 plan that cost more but it would approve me for the surgery (no exclusion of pre-existing conditions). I didn't want to switch companies altogether and risk possibly not being approved. I will apply for a healthcare subsidy before the 3/31/14 deadline and hopefully get my premium reduced. In the meantime, as of 1/4/14 I'll be all done with my pre-op appointments. Money will be tight but it's all so worth it:)

Switching Insurance
Thanks Dreams. My real question is lets say I switch to United Healthcare effective 1/1/14, and I've already fulfilled their requirements and then some (over the past 3 months while I had Horizon BCBS of NJ) will they give me a hard time approving the surgery because I am a brand new customer???
