  1. Hi everybody! I was wondering if anyone knew of a good support group in or around the Tucson area? I would even be willing to drive an hour or so outside of Tucson. Also they would have to be free or pretty cheap cause guess what i spent all my money on?.......No insurance

    Looking for buddies/support :)

Hi, My name is Olivia and I am seventeen years old. I know I am a little late here but I have a similar idea as to what you are going through because I am there now. It is definitely hard to stay on the "eating right" train.... We have very similar stats I am 5'11 my starting weight was 247, my lowest was 149 and in the last 6 months I have bounced around between 155 and 170. If you ever want to talk feel free to message me!

    June 2013 Sleevers GROUP

Today is my one year. I can't believe it...
  4. I know a lot of people believe in the no/low carb thing but I don't know how they do it. I like to start my day with an egg and half a piece of toast. It gives me some carbs and protein so I don't feel as hungry. I hope things start getting easier for you, just keep trying!
  5. Hi everybody! I am 5'11 and I currently weigh about 151 pounds. Before I started losing weight for pre-op I was 247 although I am fairly confident that was not actually my highest weight ( I avoided scales like the plague for a couple of years) I am so incredibly happy with where I am right now but a little piece of me wants to go to 146 just so that I can tell people I lost over a hundred pounds I know its stupid but I am a teenager so it comes with the job...

    Official: FitBit Thread

Does anybody know if the calories burned or accurate? I have my fitbit set to a deficit of 750 calories a day. I am pretty active but I am still skeptical when it tells me to eat 16 or 1700 because I was told(like most others) that after surgery I should eat 1200 to maintain. I am 5'11 and 152 pounds. I would like to get to 146 but it not a huge priority. Can I trust the fitbit?
  7. I am sixteen years old and am about 8 months post op. All my life I have loved sports,Whatever you threw at me i would try. I was the fat kid you saw running around a soccer field, i was the one winning the backstroke race and I was number one on my high school varsity tennis team as a sophomore. I am 5'11 got down to 148, which was past my goal weight and i felt amazing. I joined another soccer team, I was not only just starting tennis season as varsity one but also as captain, and i ran my first 5k when all the sudden i bent down to pet my puppy and my knee just popped out of my socket. I basically was told to stop all physical activity except physical therapy. This was like telling me to stop breathing. I am also a dedicated student which is extremely stressful. The way I relieved that stress was exercise. Apparently I have hypermobility in my joint which means I don't have enough muscle to hold them in place. I have had this all my life but the ironic part is that the fat was what was holding them in place and allowed me to be active. Now i am stuck for atleast 2 months doing NOTHING. I know this may seem stupid because it is not a life threatening injury and it will heal but it is the rest of my junior year which was supposed to be the one where i finally got to be the me i knew i could be. Anyway , now i am gaining weight very quickly ( I am up to 155) and I don't know what to do because it is so hard to go back to 800 when i was up at 1300 and still losing. I feel so depressed and usually i would eat to compensate but now i have to cut my calories instead and i am having a really hard time. Sorry again for the rant, thanks for listening -Olivia

    rant, sorry

Thank you all so much! I feel so much support. I took parts of all of you advice and am now lifting some weights and doing core work. Its not ideal but at least it keeps me off the couch. I also have started writing a letter once a week to someone who has influenced my life. I figure this will help me relieve some stress and also pass along the warm fuzzy feeling that you all gave me. I really appreciate it.

    Jogging/running advice needed

Not to freak you out or discourage you from running, but i just dislocated my knee and told the other is on the way when i took up running. I was really excited cause i could run a 5k for the first time in my life but then it popped right out...

  11. I use one scoop of Unjury chocoltate splendor, 1 tsp unsweetened chocolate powder, 1/2 cup unsweetened greek yogurt, some frozen blueberries, a frozen stawberry, a quarter of an apple, 3 ice cubes, ans about 1/3 cup of skim milk. YUM i tastes like a milk shake! total it is about 230 calories and 35g of protein.

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!

Our stats are very similar. I'm 174-177 with a goal of 70. I couldn't imagine 150! Please send pics!! not sure if this will work, i'm pretty technologically incompetent for a teenager...

    Diet soda

I dont drink a lot of soda, maybe one can every three months. I am not sure what to believe. However the one thing i strongly believe is that diet soda is an evil being, if you want a soda have a regular one! If that is too many calories get some sugar free fruit juice and put half juice half carbonated water. Diet sodas contain aspartame which is extremely bad for you and has been shown to increase weight as it makes you ravenously hungry. I dont think one soda every month or two will kill you best of luck!

Can you still eat in restaurants?

some of my favorites: Wendy's with onions and fat free cheddar cheese, Chipotle chicken bowl double meat 1/2 serving of rice (gives me about 6 servings, 160 cals per serving 17g protein)
  16. I just tried "Oh Yeah"bars and they literally taste like a candy bar. they are not the best for Protein (180 cals for 14-15g of protein) but if nothing else is working it is better to get some than nothing at all. I also really like the unjury chocolate splendor with skim milk, ice, frozen fruit, unsweetened chocolate powder and plain greek yogurt. YUM It is a little higher calorie becaue of the fruit but it is about 240 cals and about 30g of protein. Sorry you are having so much trouble, I did too in the beginning. I regretted getting the surgery. Now 6 months later I know it was the best decision i ever made. For me it started to get better at about a month and a half. I hope it does for you too, good luck!
  17. I'm not really sure if this will work....never posted pics on a reply before

    4 random post-op questions

    1. I had a lot of pain. I woke up from the anesthesia and it felt like i had been stabbed (which i sorta was). I was pretty out of it and i just kept moaning for a while... They asked me how much pain i was in and i kept saying "it hurts" descriptive i know. After the initial wake up it got a little better but it still hurts plus i had gas pains on my lower sides of my stomach, my muscles got soar and uncomfortable because i couldn't move and the iv was going to fast and that REALLY hurt. Anyway Im not trying to scare you, most people feel very little pain, I was just shocked at how much i had. 2. So this might be a little too much information..... but mrs havelock reminded me. During the surgery i was on my TOM. i had a tampon in when i went in and when i woke it was nowhere to be found. If i hadnt just had major surgery it would have been concerned but i had a few little other things on my mind 3. YES! yay 4. brace yourself with a pillow or your arms, helped me a bunch

    June 2013 Sleevers GROUP

I was sleeved 6/25. My starting weight was 247 and 5'11 , day of the surgery it was 211 and I am now 150. I feel happy
  20. So I respect those who don't drink coffee but I have never had a problem drinking it and have never come across a good reason to quit. The only problem for me was the empty calories so I decided to make it healthy. Every morning I drink about 12 ounces of coffee with 1/2 cup skim milk, 1/3 serving of unjury chocolate splendor protein powder and 1 tablespoon of unsweetened chocolate powder. This has about 80 calories and 11.5 grams of protein. It is a perfect way for me to start my morning any still get in some protein. You can also jazz it up a little if you get bored by adding half a peppermint. Candy or caramel and it only adds about 15 calories.

    Any Teens out there ?

Thank you!!!!im 3days post op and its hard but getting easier by the day I know itll take some getting adjusting to but im happyvi made this decision this is my first night home and im stuggling trying to find a comfortable position to sleep in Do you by any chance have a recliner? I thought it was SO much easier to sleep there than the bed. Even the couch felt better to me than my bed because i could arrange the pillows to support me almost upright.
