  1. Look at you! Congrats!!!!!!
  2. Welcome...you are off to a great start.
  3. This place is off my list for good. Only can eat a few ounces which equates to 5 maybe 6 bites....and I'm done. I've found so many places that will allow ordering off the kids menu, seniors...anything due to the smaller portion. Not Chuck-a-rama, not the one in Provo. They gave me a 10% discount which mounted to a buck. After my five bites, I equated that to be about $2.00 per bite. Plus, no drink as we don't drink while eating. What a rip off! It was kinda weird, but not embarrassing. Went in and at the register I asked if I could get a discounted or kids price due to having gastric surgery and not being able to eat but 4-6 ounces. She picked up the phone and called someone...this man came out from the kitchen and I had to ask him...everyone was listening as apparently I was starting to hold up the line. He said, "10%...that's all we can do".... like I was asking for charity or something. They will not ever get my business again. Anyone know of band/gastric surgery friendly places? Want to chime in?
  4. Sounds logical except for the fact I didn't lose any weight on my pre-op liquid diet. And once I recovered I didn't lose weight either. It wasn't until after I obtained restriction that I lost my first pound. The quantity of food I eat has changed..but count calories? Me? I don't think so.
  5. VegasGrace replied to mrspruett's topic in The Lounge
While he is a very scientific and analytical person, he is a business man. I'm not impressed. But I'm sure others will chime in and give you their thoughts.
  6. Some get restriction with no fill, some with less than half (2cc) and others it takes some time to get the right amount. While you had temporary restriction, it could have just been swelling (or so I've heard). I say call the doc for a fill and while there he/she can go over a few things with you. Good luck and keep us posted.
  7. I've saved so much money and my kids, a little plump, are sliming down, too. We were big on dining out...that's cut down from 7x or more to just now 1x a week. And my meals are free as I've learned to just eat what they leave, or just 2 bites of each of theirs. They are now taking flintsones, as I am. No soda in the house, chips, doritos, etc. It's been a postive experience...for the entire family.
  8. Luckily I'm no stranger to pain... babies, gall stones and removal, and some nip tuck.... the band was a breeze compared to those. But each person has a different pain tolerance, and some docs may traumatize the area more than others. Just grit the teeth and know ... one day soon... the pain will subside, the weight will start to come off...then it will be worth it.
  9. Bandgina? hahahah For those who are sleeping around and need to quit.
  10. Not sure who you asked, but I paid the 7k. When you call, or they call you, you can tell them when you want to have the surgery. I said as soon as possible...but knew I'd be in LA for a cruise that next month, they scheduled me for Monday, the day I got off the boat. So they will work with you, he has a schedule but can tell you any openings.
  11. Hi, check out all resources. I used the Huacuz Surgical Center w/ Dr. Huacuz. Not only did he come highly recommended...straight from his patients. He came recommended by my doctor here for fills. I had my aftercare planned before my surgery. (aftercare has been 2 visits and 2 fills- no problems or health concerns) He gave me a great deal, $7,000 and don't know if it's gone up any. That includes EVERYTHING from the physican fee, surgicenter fee, anesthesiologist fee, cardiologist, phsyc evaluation, hospital stay w/ meds, etc. The stay was 3 days and 2 nights. Good luck and let us know who you choose so we can be in your cheering section!
  12. You are so right. I have that problem frequently but admit it's my own FAULT...I am learning the band and as a former food addict and wrestling with my addiction on a daily basis. I always throw in that's it's not normal or right. Some have problems with bread, others don't. Some have problems with chicken, others don't. It's a learning process as we are all different. Point blank, always check with your doctor with any problems.
  13. It's like a kid at Christmas....just a peek. I weigh the same time every morning, in the same spot, wearing my same pj's...I do wash them. I'm in the KNOW of what's going on with me and I like that. Others don't need the scale...and that's fine for them. Wish I could do that...but being 136 just 2 years ago, I stopped weighing myself every day. So when I week or so would go by and I gained a pound... "oh, it's just a pound"... well, a year went by of that and I was over 200 again! scales are my friend, my reality check. (oh, didn't notice clothing size changing as I was on a tropical island wearing skirts and tshirts every day... that elastic can fool you!)
  14. If I simply just didn't chew well enough and it comes back up in seconds, sure...I go on eating. But usually my slime starts and that's when I know I've had enough. This isn't normal or right..for those of you thinking about getting the band. I'm an overeater and am relearning how to eat. My case has been a tad different than most I have come across. My sliming doesn't hurt, not uncomforable... nothing. It's as easy as brushing your teeth and spitting. (actually had a sliming incident while brushing my teeth...brushed right after eating and the gag reflex hit) My doctor is not concerned as there are no convulsions as with vomiting, no pressure on the band. And I'm near my goal so no too far off in the future I'll be getting an unfill. I'm hanging in and hanging on!
  15. It's my experience everything is from Taiwan anyways. Dining is a great idea!!!! It's two fold as it saves them money plus it's a gift. You are too smart

  17. Funny you say that...my twin had RNY and she won't use a straw. Can't remember the reason. But she says it's better for your teeth to use a straw. I'll have to ask her when I see her at Christmas time. Good post!
  18. Here! Here! I agree with Donna. It's all up to you. I was the one who wrote the comment about re-evaluating your relationship but said that since you had been together for 11 years you must be in a good, loving, committed relationship. Just worried that the comment about the food...may not be the only thing that he says/does. Had a close friend I watch as her partner said little things (unnoticed most of the time) but it added up to emotional abuse and he didn't really 'think' that much of her. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't happening to you. And it's probably not. And the other comment about the double standard.... a study of the wealthiest men concluded that men find a spouse and family as assets. Catch that segment on CNBC, financial network. I was shocked to see that Fortune 500's want a spouse to support, children to carry on the name. Good luck to you and please don't let what I said prevent you from coming back. We all come from different backgrouds and thus we can all offer different points of view...that's what's so great about this forum. Listen to your heart! And you are so worth it!
  19. Traveled...went to Mexico on a cruise for my pre-op. And yes, that's a good idea to start working on your nutrition and exercise early on. I was working on mine for a while but once I decided to have the surgery, I had it done within a month or two. I was selfpay and didn't have anything stopping me but me! Sounds like you have a great head on your shoulders and things are going to move right along. Congrats on the decision and we shall see you on the loser's bench!
  20. Oh, 11 years? BF? Unless you are extremely wealthy and are choosing not to marry to protect your assets... why is he still your boyfriend and not a husband? Not meaning to come down hard but it gets my goat ONLY because I've seen so many women go thru this only to have that bf leave...no string attached. Hopefully you have a loving and caring relationship built upon 11 years of sharing... that you two have grown together and have made commitments to each other.
  21. Get rid of the boyfriend. Well, that's what I'd do...but you're talking to someone who hasn't had a date in 8 years. Just keep your eyes open for other things (he knows this isn't about eating less and exercising)... just protect yourself ... you need someone to lift you up...not bring you down.
  22. Hey, good questions. If you could change: 1) One physical (other than weight) thing about yourself, what would it be? My nose. I'm part Cherokee and my nose has always bothered me. 2) One non-physical thing about yourself (mental, situation, etc.), what would it be? My brain, to be alble to hear and process thinking correctly. N/A- no spouse or partner And how about the same two questions, only now applied to your partner/spouse?
  23. Nope, still single here. The band has only changed my relationship with food...which was my goal. So I'm happy.
  24. Freebigbennow....I'm with you. Had a blast on my trip. Mine was 7k, but I had to pay my own airfare...Southwest was like 110 so I got a really good deal. I had arranged with fillcentersusa for my appointment before I was even banded. I've had 2 fills and am 30 pounds away from my goal.
  25. I guess I should haven't answered that way... as far as 'burping'... not often. Feel like I need to, though. I slime like crazy EVERY DAY. But it doesn't hurt, just lean over the sink and it slides out. No convulsions like preband vomiting like hacking up a cow. Simply lean and let it come out. If anyone gets a slipped band....it's gonna be me! But I will surely let everyone know when I find out...I'm still losing, no pain...so -so far, no problem.
