does anyone regret having their sugrey in mexico
Dr. Daniel Huacuz.... you'll find all sorts of info on here and the other obesityhelp forum. Not come across anyone unhappy...actually, I think he's the lowest maintenance surgeon around as get the band and after you get it adjusted to restriction.... you are smooth sailing. So many have problems, have to go back in for re positioning or port flipped...or something else. Not w/ Dr. Huacuz. Huacuz Surgical Center and if this link turns into some long thing lapbandtalk does... its www . huacuz . com

NEw to the group looking for advide HELP
Hi, I was on the other end, being the active duty servicemember. I was injured in Desert Storm and the weight piled on quickly. Luckily, I discovered lapband and a great surgeon. There is a thread under insurance that talks of TriCare...they now pay for this. Good luck!

Do You? You know use that word!
Was just on a flight where 2 old men...really old referred to the lady as 'nigger woman' when they spoke about the flight attendant. I was shocked...but even my mother uses it like this... guess that is dying out... and not a moment to soon.

does anyone regret having their sugrey in mexico
No, not at all. I would regret it if I paid more than $7,000 and been in debt.

1000 calories and still not losing!! help!
When I get like that... I have: a Krispy Kreme and a coke I'll lose a pound by the next day..... so weird, but true...not enough carbs causes a stall in weightloss. Remember, it takes carbohydrates for the body to use fat cells (as in shrink them)

Mexico versus US for cash patients
You can't beat Dr. Huacuz for experience and bedside manner. Plus mine was only $7,000...which included everything. Good luck!

Manipulating the band, restriction
Thanks for the input, y'all. I had some success of drinking apple juice today...and 1 bite of a sandwich stayed down. But everything else came back up...or I should say didn't go down to begin with. I feel much better and my band is starting to loosen. Trying to keep the fluids coming. I'm sure in a week all will be back to normal.

Face work - how to find a surgeon?
I've had serval plastic surgeries, last being the lapband. You know, I've always wanted rhinoplasty...but have been terrified. My nose is bad enough w/o a mishap. I'd like to find a surgeon who knows about ANGLES and RATIO... not one that says "what kind of nose would you like" I want one for MY face, based on my angles, ratio, eye settings, etc. Oh, I'm part American Indian so I have a broad nose.

salads anyone?
I can't eat alot of salads, comes back up quickly no matter how much I chew. Olive Garden and Ceasars work well for me. I'm thinking it's all that slimy dressing that helps it slide down.

Hello and just starting to research and a couple of questions.
- Manipulating the band, restriction
Please feel free to leave your comments. I saw someone post something about - hydration loosens restriction- or something like that. Yesterday read a post of a bandster who got awfully restricted during an illness- flu, cold or something. I have pneumonia and this week am so tight juice spews back up and I taste my antibiotic...which tells me it's coming back up, too. So, logic says that since Fluid intake decreases when someone is sick (as it happens nothing is wanted) the band gets too tight. I'm forcing fluids in...even if it comes up. Last night drank at the sink and just let it come out with every swallow. I'm sure something got down. Anyone have suggestions or has this happened to them? (please don't say call the doc as I'm wanting to know from bandsters who all of a sudden got tight without a fill) My theory is since it's TEMPORARY, an unfill will just have to be followed up with a fill the next week once the illness passses.- Medic Alert ID or not?
Mandy, had posted on another thread about my ER visit this week. Long story short...pneumonia. Doc gave me NSAIDS thru the iv and said it's not contraindicated. He's familiar w/ the gastric band and said NSAIDS even orally a time or two won't harm anything. It's long term use (even in unbanded patients) that can cause damage.- to unfill or not to unfill ??
Thanks for this post. I'm 25lbs away from my goal and I'm pretty restricted... I hope in January I can be at my goal...but don't think I will make it. The less I weigh, the slower the weightloss. But I do look forward to being able to eat something w/o sliming it up.- Please help. Supposedly tight band but hungry and eating anything...
Oh, I have pneumonia and can't hold down anything, even my antibiotic comes back up. But I think this will be temporary...doc can't see me til next week so I am just waiting it out.- Please help. Supposedly tight band but hungry and eating anything...
Good for you being persistant. Seems it would have been simple for the 1st doc to give you a slight fill IF you came back for a chekup at 1 week. He could have monitored you. Good for you!- Will Weight Watchers Work?
It didn't work for me as I used my points for BBQ chips and pepsi. But since I'm nearing my goal and weightloss has almost halted, I'm thinking about doing weight watchers. Is it possible to be too restricted? And not lose any weight?- Is this normal? Happened to anyone else??
I had exactly what you explained...but I didn't do anything, waited it out. Was weird because it was unnerving to wake up choking... well, just alot of slobber to contend with. It passed after a few weeks and haven't had it recurr. I thought it was just a fluke.- Business owners..even Avon/Marykay, etc?
Thanks, I need that. I will go back and adjust it... I have looked at other business owners info and it talks about service, being alumni from a certain college, and of course, the Chamber of Commerce. I guess it works for a man... but me? I need a softer side and yes,....more busniess accomplishments. Thanks again. - Manipulating the band, restriction
