Hi there Yadiordz, I hope you are feeling better after that fall and that the MRI is clear. What a winter this has been! So icy here also. Let us know how you are doing!
I am at 215 this morning, a number I have seen before but now I am visualizing 211 on that scale -- can't be long now. I have increased my workouts. Really trying to step it up for March. I have had 5-6 fills (lost count!) -- no primer in my band so started from scratch. I am feeling a good dimming of the appetite and happy to be at peace with hunger. I do have "head hunger" in the evenings when I am used to snacking a great deal, but I am working through that bit by bit. I am down one third of the weight that I want to lose. I'd like to lose that second third by summer.
Hope every one is doing well!

Good to hear from you Smpin and Forward! I agree this is hard. My doctor says I will be on the same diet forever. Not quite sure I agree with him.
First 2 weeks after fill: non carbonated diet beverages, two Protein shakes per day
Second 2 weeks after fill: Same as above, plus 3 60 cc Soup meals per day
Third 2 weeks after fill: beverages, 2 Protein shakes and three soft meals per day 60 cc per meal.
Forth 2 weeks after fill: beverages, 2 Protein Shakes and 3 Proteins per day, 60 cc per meal.
Repeat after next fill...Thats IT. Maybe it will change after my fills are complete?
The not losing alot after first fill is my fault.
This time I am doing better, but only into week 1 after my 2nd fill.
I did try a yoga class last week and I am getting in more exercise this time.

How are all you November bandsters doing? I had my 2nd fill today. My weight was pretty much unchanged from 6 weeks ago so I hope this fill starts some movement!

Thought I would make a thread for the November 2013 Bandsters to check in.

I was banded on November 7th and had my first fill last week. I am still getting used to my new lifestyle. I have lost about 20 pounds since my pre-surgery prep. I haven't had anyone ask me if I have lost weight, but I can tell a difference in my clothes.

I had an incident yesterday with getting "stuck" while eating some baked fish. I think I was eating too fast and maybe had too much on my fork. It was not a pleasant feeling. We were in a fast food place, and I felt like I wanted to throw up. I tried not to panic, took sips of Water and finally got over it.

I need to step up my exercise, I have a DVD for "walk in home". It is for beginners and has 5 different miles you can do. You can do 1 or up to all 5 depending on your comfort level.

All my incisions are healing nicely except for one, which split open on one corner after I had my staples out. I showed it to my doctor at my first fill and he did not seem to feel it was a problem. I've been putting peroxide on it and Vitamin E oil on the others.

All the rest of you November bandsters, how are you doing?

You are not alone! Yesterday I did good. I am really going to try going forward. It is hard. Learning to take smaller bites and chew more is hard, afterall we have been eating with bigger bites and less chews for a long long time. I am hoping by the time I go in for my 2nd fill on 2/25 that I will be down some more. Keep trying and hang in there! Coming here for support helps me!

Thank you Bandista! I started tracking on MyFitnessPal and I think being accountable to my food and exercise journal is going to help. Holidays are over...getting on the wagaon and yelling "Ya!" to the horses pulling it LOL

This is a difficult time -- we have had our bands installed and healed up from our surgeries and now we are in the process of getting fills in order to get to the green zone. Until then we are basically just dieting, and if we had been successful dieters we wouldn't need the bands. The beauty of the band is the adjustability but getting to the proper adjustment is a process. Ugh. We will get there, however!

It is hard as a newly banded person to adapt to the new lifestyle! Many of us had tried dieting and had no success. Around the holidays is much worse! I have no willpower! If I did, I could have done this without the band. Yes, I have my doctor's instructions on what to eat and how much, but when my lack of willpower takes over....all that goes out the window! I need to keep coming back here to get motivation!

I have gained as well. So hard around the holidays, and I have NO will power! Finally, all the celebrations are over (not counting tonight NYE), and I can get back on track. I have had more stuck episodes, and I am learning that I need to take SMALL bites! Happy New Year Everyone!!

Just my two cents...not all newbies are internet savvy. They might start new threads not knowing how to search for their question. They might not even be used to a computer. They might not know forum "etiquette". Many people may not have had any kind of surgery before. Speaking from my own experience, even though my doctor gave me information, most of it really didn't sink in until after my surgery. My first pre-op visit I had a whole list of questions for him. I joined this forum to get additional information from people who already went through what I was currently experiencing and hoping to learn from their mistakes, and also any tips or advice. All the vets were new once, and since they are now experienced, may tend to forget what it is like to be new. Obviously this place is meant to be informative and fun. When it no longer meets your needs, then it is time to move on. You will keep in contact with those you have gotten to be close to.

I know I am struggling even as a new bandster. I have to keep reminding myself how depressed I was when nothing I tried seem to work and then I just went into an abyss of being overweight and over-eating. I do not like that feeling. I do feel a little lighter even with only 20 pounds lost. I LOVE that feeling! food really isn't that important to me now. I eat to keep myself sustained and get in my Protein drinks. I need to continue to exercise and work in more of it. I need to drink more Water. The holiday goodies really do not appeal to me. The stuff from work I brought home to my husband. My downfall is carbs! I am a work in progress, and it is ok to mess up every now and then, I'm only human. Each day I need to find positive motivation and I get most of it from reading the posts here! We can do it!

Me also I am under 300. I think I feel better. My breathing is better. Although I don't walk because I am weak and don't breath well. I will start as weight goes down and the weather gets better. Soon I hope.
Merry Christmas to all my new friends on this forum.

    Hi!
My suggestion for a way to get back on track is to get rid of whatever food you feel is creating a problem for you -- and do that TODAY, like as soon as you read this.
Make a pact with YOURSELF, not your doctor, for the next 7 days. Buy and eat only the food that supports the pact you make. It will be a challenge, but it's only for 7 days.
Some kind of movement may be helpful, too, even if it's just a 10 minute walk outside each day. But it could be 10 crunches a day or a set of leg lifts-- something you can realistically, easily set into a schedule. This is just to get something started. Not something uncomfortable or hard to arrange. Something you might feel like adding to at the end of 7 days!
Make the 7 days your only goal and notice how your body and your outlook on life feels when you reach that goal in 7 days.
Personally, I would make part of the pact to stay off the scale so that it doesn't influence you emotionally either way.
When I set a short-term goal like this, I feel excited at the end of each day because I was successful! The excitement and commitment starts to build on itself and creates it's own momentum.
One key is to not plan a reward at the end. (for me rewards usually mean food!)
OR another "method" is to put the money, you were about to spend on "goodies", in a jar...and at the end spend it on a movie, clothes, some non-food prize.
I have caught myself losing weight seemingly for my doctor, worried about what they will say or think, and giving them much more power than I will acknowledge for myself --- so, if you do that, too --->empower yourself, continue with the intervention you made on your own behalf. And remember: Doctors come and go. You will be here throughout your journey!
I know this is just a lot of words, but it might provide a spark or some encouragement that someone reading the words might be able to run with. Nothing works on it's own
In my own life, my downfall was the first time I tasted holiday cookie dough, 5 months after surgery. For me, it's best to just not do it. I know for others, it's fine to indulge on occasion (and actually can be helpful psychologically for some to indulge on occasion). My "on occasion" would have to be maybe once a year for now!
And most important, continue to love yourself NO MATTER WHAT. Without condition.
I'll be away for a bit.
    Merry Christmas!
    love, ~hiddn

Hi smpin! good to hear from you! You are doing fantastic! Thanks for checking in! I like your idea with the muffin tin, I will have to try it! I had another stuck episode tonight while eating some roasted chicken. UGH. I guess the more dense meats really get to me. I have got to remember to chew, chew, chew!

Hi ladies!! I was banded 11/18 and so far I have lost 21lbs since pre-op. After surgery I did two weeks of full liquids, two weeks of mushy and now I'm eating solids. My incisions are doing well, except for one that it's taking longer to heal.
So far so good, no throwing up or stock episodes. I did expirience mild chest pain( like esopahgus spasm) I called the Dr. and I was told that I was problably eating and drinking too fast. I practiced eating slow and the pain went away.
From time to time I also feel pain in my left shoulder not sure if band related or just muscle pain.
I have been trying to do at least do some cardio 3-5 times a week for 30 minutes and I have 4pounders weight and I try to do them at least twice a week. I haven't had any fills yet, I think my surgeon wants to see first if I really needed. So far I eat a cup worth of food every 5 hours 3x a day and I'm allowed a snack but I haven't had the need to go for it. My TOM is around the corner and I start feeling hungry a little sooner maybe 4 to 4 1/2 hours after my lst meal. So I don't think is that bad.
My next follow up is on 1/14. Let see what they will do. To be honest I hope I can continue doing this without the fills but if I need it I'll be getting them.
So Glad to hear that you are also doing well!!
Ps. I do need Breakfast Ideas. I been having eggs & oatmeals. It's getting a little boring!
    Thanks.
