  1. Hi I'm here too from Illinois. Northern suburbs along the lake.
  2. A problem with your bowels is not uncommon. I had problems with diarrhea for a period of time after surgery. It your body reacting to the changes in it. Some people get the opposite effect with their bowels. Once I got more and more on solids my problem changed. So don't be discouraged it will fix it self. You will become more regular.
  3. Jodie, Don't beat yourself up about this. I still have dreams where I'm stuffing myself with sweets like crazy. I have not had any since surgery but I still think about them unconsciously and sometimes consciously. As long as you stay with your plan of action you'll be fine. Remember the bad foods most likely will make you feel horrible if eaten. If you feel the need for stronger support I suggest talking to a therapist that specializes in food addiction if you can't get these thoughts off your mind. It might make you feel better about what your feeling right now. Hang in there.
  4. Jason congratulations on your decision to get healthier. May I suggest you wear a Depends or something like it just in case you do have an accident. At least if it does happen your clothes won't get ruined. Take it easy and be strong. The best to you on your surgery.
  5. That's absolutely fabulous! Congratulations!
  6. Hi, This is what I take: Celebrate Calcium Citrate Chews-they come in berry, chocolate or carmel. I take two 3x a day. Nordic Naturals Omega 3 and Vitamin D3. I take two of each 1x a day. Twinlabs Chewable Biotin. Two tablets 1x a day. Costco has B12 in cherry flavor that you put under your tongue for proper absorption. One tablet 1x a week. Flinestones chewable multi vitamins. Two tablets 1x a day. This list is from my nutritionist and surgeons offices according to their guidelines given to me. They feel chewables absorb better. They Omega 3 and D3 are in pill form but they absorb fine that way I was told. Calcium Citrate and multi vitamin can not be taken at the same time I was told. I hope this helps and please make sure that these suggestions meet your surgeons and nutritionists guidelines. Good luck with your upcoming surgery.
  7. You have such a wonderful outlook on this whole process. I congratulate you for all your effort to making a healthier you. You are such an upbeat person and I can wait to see pictures of your progress. Take care.
  8. The best to you on your upcoming surgery. Try to stay as relaxed as you possibly can and it will be her before you know it. Be happy for this new chapter in your life to better health.
  9. Why do you have to buy from your surgeon's office? I have not tried either product so I'm sorry I can't answer your question about them. The only whey Protein Powder that I have only used is Jay Robb. It's very good and made with Stevia. You can buy it from Whole Foods if you have that in your area, directly from the company or Amazon. It comes in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and one or two other flavors. I also use Torani sugar free syrups to add flavor to the Protein Shakes. It's made with Splenda. It comes in many, many flavors. You can get it from the company, or if you have World Market in your area they sell it too. You could ask your nutritionist or surgeon if they are allowed on your program they have come up with for you. Good luck on your surgery next month.
  10. You look sensational!
  11. On occasion I eat spicy and have had no problem. I would say that you should wait until you are on solids before attempting to eat it. So that means a few months after surgery. Good luck with the surgery you choose.
  12. I used and still eat sugar free Bomb Pop Popsicles. They are made with Splenda. I really enjoy them.
  13. You should contact your OB/GYN for this matter right away. This isn't normal. Let us know what happens.
  14. Do you not like your Protein shakes? I've been using Jay Robb whey Protein powder with Stevia and I really like it. It smooth and not gritty at all. It has 25 grams of protein in each serving and if you use skim milk that will add another 8 grams of protein. I add to it Torani sugar free syrups made with Splenda. They come in many, many flavors. You can buy Jay Robb at Whole Foods, directly from the company or Amazon. You can buy Torani sugar free syrups from the company directly or if you have World Market in your area they carry them too. Good luck in finding something you like.
  15. I use Celebrate calcium citrate Chews in berry flavor. They also come in carmel or chocolate. I take two 3x a day and they are good tasting. I know of individuals that use Calcium Citrate Chews from costco which come in carmel or chocolate. I have in the past used the Celebrate Citrate Chewable Tablets in cherry tart and those were good too. Celebrate makes one more Calcium Citrate a Soft Chew and those are good also. I was also told by my surgeon and nutritionist that my Vitamins had to be chewables except for Vitamin D3 and Omega 3. With bypass you have a better absorption with chewables.
  16. Sharon welcome to your journey to a new, healthier, and happy life. That woman that put you on her blog is self centered and hateful in her thinking. She is so unaware of what WLS is all about. If she did she wouldn't attack it. You are doing the very best thing for yourself in doing this surgery. I had sleep apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver, Gerds and happy to say that these things have gone away because I had the gastric bypass. I'm am personally proud of you for wanting to improve your well being. Congratulations on your decision. Take care of yourself and be happy. Good luck on your journey and upcoming surgery.
  17. What is in your protein bars? How much carbs and how much sugar? I use Quest Protein Bars. They are made with Stevia. They come in many flavors. High in fiber, low sugar, gluten free, no GMO. 20 or 21 grams of protein. I also use Jay Robb Whey Protein powder for make my shakes. They are very good tasting and they are smooth. They are made with Stevia. Come in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry or one or two other flavors. 25 grams of protein in each serving. Sugar free almond milk works well with the protein powder and it adds more protein to the shake. I also use Torani sugar free syrups in my protein shakes. They are made with Splenda and come in many, many flavors. Quest Bars can be bought from GNC, directly from the company, Amazon, or eBay. Jay Robb can be bought at a Whole Foods or I buy it from Amazon. Torani sugar free syrups can be bought directly from the company or World Market if you have one in your area. Good luck wit your upcoming surgery.

  20. The subject was suggested to me years ago by my doctor but I wasn't open to it at all. I didn't really consider it until last year when someone I know had the sleeve done and was very successful that I thought it was time for me to do it. I haven't regretted it since I had the gastric bypass last year. I'm so much more healthier then I have been in many, many years. I would recommend surgery to any one who wants it.
  21. Welcome Paige to a new chapter in your life. You have taken the first step for a healthier better you. Don't let anyone deter you on this journey. Follow all of your surgeons and nutritionist guidelines and you'll do wonderful. I am a firm believer in not going on the scale everyday. If you want to weigh yourself at home do it once a week wearing the same thing at the same time of day. You take care and come here often for support and questions.
  22. I really like the Torani sugar free syrups. I have tried Gingerbread, Carmel, and Peppermint and they were all great. I will have to try your trick with the sugar free pudding.
  23. When you get two weeks out you will start your Vitamins and really start to feel better. Make sure you are getting in your Water and Protein. Lack of those will cause lack of energy. Remember you just had major surgery and it takes your body awhile to adjust. I do recommend that every hour or two you get up and move around because it will help with pain and healing. Feel stronger every day.
