Did you have your endoscopy in an outpatient center or at the hospital?
I had mine at the hospital.

Baby food during puree phase?
I ate baby food and added seasonings to the meat ones. To the fruit ones you can add stevia or Splenda or whatever you use as a sweetener, just not sugar.

Scale
I don't like scales at home I think they are self defeating. Take that scale and put it away. If you really feel that you must weigh yourself then use it only once a week wearing the same clothes and at the same time. Preferably in the morning. Don't be a slave to that monster because it will make you crazy with all it's different answers.

Endoscopy Expectations
I agree with the others. It was simple and you go in the operating room, you lay on your side, they give you some IV sleep meds and the next thing you know is your in their recovery room waking up. Since you have had nothing to drink or eat they won't let you go until you eat and drink some. Don't worry about it.

light headed
Are you taking in enough protein? Are you drinking enough water? These two things can cause lightheaded feeling if you aren't getting enough protein and water in your pre op plan. If you are doing enough protein and water then I would check with your doctor about this.

liquid diet
Betsy I suggest you skip a little of the other stuff and drink that third slim fast because at this point you are not getting enough protein in your body. That's the most important part in eating correctly. Protein always comes first then water then the other foods. If you want to ask your nutritionist about this and I'm pretty sure they will say the same thing. Good luck with your upcoming surgery.

Food-Stamps supplies ideas
Did your nutritionists gave you a list of protein powders that you can use. Protein powder is cheaper then buying the pre made protein drinks. Buy sugar free pudding or sugar free jello for your post surgery menu. Buy chicken broth, canned low fat soups and purée them in the blender to make them the right consistence. You can add unflavored protein powder to these to help get your protein in for the day. You can use skim milk or unsweetened almond milk to mix your protein powder with. You must follow the quide lines of what foods to eat at each stage of post op. A lot of the foods will be eligible to purchase with food, stamps I'm pretty sure. For vitamins buy what's on the list that the nutritionist gave you. Some nutritionist get samples from companies so ask if they do. Good luck with your surgery.

Port site pain?
May I suggest you call your surgeon immediately. Don't wait because you might or might not have a problem. Only your surgeon càn tell. In the mean time use cold compresses on the site to bring down the swelling. Good luck with taking care of this.

liquid diet
Each surgeon has a different plan for eating on the liquid diet. For example I had to drink four protein shakes a day and raw vegetables. Did your nutritionist or surgeon give you a list of what you can have at this stage? I suggest doing some activity that keeps you busy. For an example take a course at the local college or an art class. Learn to knit or crochet. Find something that is interesting for you. Go start exercising on a regular basis. You will be doing that activity after surgery about three weeks or four weeks after surgery. When you have your surgery walk as much as you can because that will help with the pain. Last but not least good luck with your surgery.

How soon did you start working out...
May I suggest Unjury chicken soup. It has 20 grams of protein per serving and it's tasty IMO. Getting all your protein will help you heal. Lack of protein will slow down the healing process and make you weak. You could get unflavored protein and add it to sugar free jello or sugar free pudding. As for exercise I was back at the gym one month after surgery but I walked every day and did the stairs as much as I could. Listen to your body and go according to what your surgeon tells you about the exercise. Good luck.

Protein drinks, powder make me nauseous...
I would ask for them. Maybe it's they whey protein you can't handle. Have you thought of trying egg white protein powder? If you haven't tried that yet may I recommend Jay Robb Egg White Protein Powder and if you can tolerate Whey Protein Powders then the Jay Robb is easy to drink. I use both types. You can get Jay Robb products at Whole Foods, directly from the company or Amazon. The come in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and one or two other flavors. May I also recommend Torani sugar free syrups to give your shake a different flavor. They are made with Splenda. They come in a multitude of flavors. You can get them directly from the company or if you have World Market stores in your area they carry it too. Feel better.

Fashion
Jenny have you tried Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, Chicos or Lands End. I had real good luck with them in finding clothes that are not crazy fashions like they are show these days. Good luck in finding new clothes for yourself.

June 10th Bypass Op!
Don't make yourself crazy about the unknown. Try the best you can to relax. You'll do great. These are exciting times for you. You're doing a really great thing for yourself. You're doing this surgery to better your health and that's a wonderful. I'm so glad that I did this surgery for myself. My health has improved immensely. From this surgery I know longer take 3/4 of the meds that I did. My bp is great, no more diabetes, no more sleep apnea, no more high cholesterol. It's so much easier to move around and to walk without lose of breath. I wish you all the luck for your surgery. Come back and let us know how you are doing often. P.S. Your user name is that your name? The reason I ask is I'm a doll collector and your user name is the names of three dolls that were made by a famous doll artist. They were very cute trio. Any ways just curious.

Very low energy
If you aren't meeting your protein intake it slows down the healing process greatly. You must eat all of your protein. Also lack of protein will cause your hair to fall out more when that happens in month 4, 5 and 6 or sooner. Please start eating all of your protein before you have a real problem. Take care.

Clear fluids
Yes it does and so do sugar free Popsicles. I use sugar free Bomb Pop Popsicles made with Splenda. They are enjoyable. Take care.

Newbie with bowel issues - help?
You could try Jay Robb egg white protein powder. It has 24 grams of protein in each serving. You can mix it with unsweetened Almond Milk. That will give you a little more protein. You could use Torani sugar free syrups for flavor and they come in a multitude of flavors. Jay Robb is sold at Whole foods, from the company direct or Amazon. Torani sugar free syrups come from the company direct or if you have World Market stores in your area you can get it there. Take it easy and feel better.

Feeling hunger more @ 6 month post Op
If I understand what happens to the pouch to be correct then the pouch goes from golf ball size to the size of an egg just after six months. So therefore you can eat a little more then you used to. I am eight months out and at times I can eat more then usual and sometimes I can't at all. If you are real concerned then contact your nutritionist about this.

GERD vs Sleeve
I originally was going to have the sleeve but my gastric doctor told me to have bypass or I would be miserable with problems. The surgeon told me this but until my gastric doctor said something I ignored the warning. In my opinion if you have Gerds don't do the sleeve or lapband. I'm pleased with my bypass.

Medic alert bracelet
That's a good idea. Thank you for suggesting it.
-
Protein powders
May I suggest egg white Protein powder. Jay Robb has it and it has 25 grams of protein. Also unsweetened almond milk is very good in vanilla. Good luck.

So anybody else want to do bodily harm to their psych?
That's crap! If I were you I would go and get it and hand deliver it to your surgeon. This might be out of your way but at least you know it's in their hands then. Good luck with everything.
