  1. I had planned to have my tubes tied when I have my rny. My surgeon has a gynecologist that assists him in surgery. I went in for my gyn exam with the doctor and he recommended to have my tubes removed instead of tied I was ok with this because I know the benefits of removing the whole tube when you're high risk for ovarian cancer. Well when he did the sonogram to check for cyst and fibroids there was an oddly shaped cyst on my ovary. He told me he wants to look at it again in December. If he doesn't like the look of it then he's going to remove my tubes and the ovary. Well I got a call today that they found pre cancerous cells on my cervix. So it is very possible I may have a hysterectomy at the same time as my rny. I'm afraid that this will make my recovery really difficult. I've only had one other surgery and that was for ovarian cyst. I was 17 and it was an easy lap procedure. I'm kind if scared and just wondering if anyone else has gone thru this.
  2. Me and my pen pal have had busy schedules so we got our boxes out this week. I'm pre op and she's 2 years out. I've been able to learn so much from her. It is the same with my last pen pal. The info I've received and the new relationships are invaluable. This was a great idea! The goodies are the icing on the cake. It makes me sad that some people take advantage of the opportunity.
  3. Glad things went well. Keep us posted on your progress.
  4. Too funny! We had OSHA onsite today soo I had to be professional in front of others. I will make everyone celebrate with me on Friday. Crystal Light margaritas and mojitos for everyone. (Virgin of course)
  5. I got lucky. My nurse coordinator's office is next to the reviewers office. She was bugging them about reviewing my case before my surgeon's office submitted the request. Now she's bugging my other doc to get the request for the other procedure I'll be having at the same time as my rny.
  6. Thanks! I was in a meeting when I saw Aetna pop up on my phone. I was freaking out for 2 hours before I could check the message. lol. Then I went to my office, closed the door and did the happy dance.
  7. I got approved today!
  8. I got my approval today. it only took 2 working days. I still don't have a date. My surgeon thinks it'll be in December.
  9. I got approved today! So excited! I will most likely have a December surgery. My surgeon is still out of commission until further notice. He says it looks like he'll be healed either late November or early December. He has about 15 patients ahead of me so I'll be within 2 weeks of his return. This has been such an emotional rollercoaster. The anxiety of waiting is starting to take a toll on me. I'm using this time to prepare myself and my family for the changes to come but I wanna be on the losers bench already. My kids are excited now that they understand it better. Even my 5 and 7 year olds ask me when we are shopping, "Mommy can you eat that after surgery?" If I say no then they tell me not to buy it. My 17 and 11 year old were really worried about my safety. I took them to a support group meeting and they feel much better after asking tons of questions. I'm still working on my husband but I think he'll be the tough nut to crack. He's overweight as well and he's not ready to make changes yet. I have to let him have his own journey but I worry about his health also. I'm rambling now. I haven't really commented to much to this topic because I wasn't sure about my date. Now that I have an approval I need to get better acquainted with y'all. lol.
  10. I got my approval today! No date yet. Probably not for a few weeks.
  11. Congrats! I'm really happy everything worked out for you. .
  12. Add me kfauese@gmail.com screen name is Kami
  13. I got confirmation that the reviewers have my file on Saturday. Hopefully, I'll hear something soon. My surgeon still doesn't have a confirmed date when he'll be performing surgery again but he's saying end of November or early December. There are 13 people ahead of me when he does start scheduling and he does about 10 surgeries a week. How are you keeping yourself sane while waiting?
  14. Have you gotten your approval yet?
  15. All prayers appreciated. Thank you
  16. I understand completely. My life has been halted by my weight. My kids are growing and experiencing life while I'm sitting on the sidelines. Having surgery terrifies me. I've never had surgery but I see the worst case scenarios everyday at work. I have faith that this surgery will give me the full life I deserve. Have faith and know that you will be ok. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Please keep me in yours.
  17. Have explained your situation to them? It must be very unnerving. I'm sending prayers your way.
  18. OMG 3 sleep studies!!! I'm glad I didn't have a formal sleep study. I didn't have any symptoms so I just had to sleep with an pulse ox monitor at home. I brought it back and my oxygen was good all night. I don't think I could sleep during a sleep study.
  19. I got the call today that the reviewers at Aetna have received my packet and nurse will be reviewing it. Praying for good news soon
  20. Welcome! Do you have a December date?
  21. The insurance company has called my surgeon's office twice asking for the request for authorization. They were supposed to send all the documents on the 17th. I'm getting nervous now. I just want to hear "you're approved and your date is..."
